Pirates never spoke like what pirates speak like.
Pirating used to be a noble profession, sponsored by the British government, if you can believe it. Raiding and destroying enemy vessels was of a tactical advantage.
"Limey," the derogatory term used to describe British people, got its origin from the copious amount of citrus British sailors would carry on board to fight scurvy.
Modern pirates are usually basement dwellers with 1337 haxxor skillz and at least 100 proxies. More advanced pirates know and keep track of the names of the people who originally ripped and uploaded pirated materials, and can develop brand loyalty. Some will even raeg if you don't capitalize aXXo properly. Much lulz are to be had by trolling a pirate forum in this manner.

I got into watching movie previews before buying movies because of aXXo. He's totally the man. I'm so glad he exists.
It has the highest budget of any adult film to date, other than the sequel (which is 8 million USD). What other porno movie features an epic battle with the Krakken with legitimately enjoyable CGI?
That's called privateering and is distinct from piracy. Technically privateering is still legal under current U.S. law, but one needs a charter from the president in order to act as a privateer under that country's flag. Pirating was also never considered a noble profession. Also, the leader of the largest pirate organization in the world was a Chinese prostitute by the name of Ms. Cheng, who was portrayed in Pirates of the Caribbean as one of the nine pirate lords, lololololol.
