You mean the black hole that may or may not be there?

I suppose stars just swirl randomly around completely empty parts in space that are directly proportional to the entire mass of the galaxy for no reason at all...

Can you tell me which photos present what kind of damage, even though you weren't there to see it yourself?

Name the causes of the type of damage you see in the photos and which photos the damage applies to.
Apples and oranges, my friend...
Whatever guess I make would still be an assumption.
How one could try and make the bold-faced claim and pass it off as fact, as to what exactly the mayans intended with their calendar system's end date, is beyond me. As far as I know, that's when they somehow knew a galactic event/change would occur rendering the pyramid's accuracy inert.
All one can do really, is bow down to it's accuracy up to this point, and wonder what's actually in store at it's end. If one can't humble themselves enough to do that, then they clearly have too much pride to give respect to an ancient culture which had much more knowledge and understanding of reality, time, and space then most people today.
This is one subject I've studied pretty hardcore.
This is a civilisation that couldn't predict its own demise. Fail.
As for the photos, you can deduce the events through the type of damage being exhibited. Photo 1 shows localised but severe damage along a set path. This has characteristics of tornado damage, so we can assume from the evidence left behind of what damage Photo 1 presents. Though you weren't there to see the actual tornado, you can still see the evidence left behind and deduce the event. The same reasoning is applied to Photo 2. The damage shown there shows that rigid structures have failed and collapsed, whilst the trees show no wind damage. This rules out weather-related phenomenon as the causes for this type of damage. From there, I can assume that this is an example of earthquake damage.
The fact is, you can look at the evidence left behind after an event and still deduce what the event was, and you can do so without having to witness it yourself. To say "Oh but you weren't there to see it for yourself" is a fallacious thing to say, due to the fact you don't need to. There are other ways to objectively deduce and quantify a phenomena or event.
Oh yeah.
2012 is the year the solar system is alighend under Aquarius.
Why are you so inclined? Might that not also be an assumption?
And of the two assumptions, which takes the biggest leap of faith?
You might be interested to know that:
1. The Mayan calander does not in fact end in 2012, it is simply the end of a long cycle ("The Great Cycle").
2. By some people's calculations, the intersection of our sun with the planar center of the galaxy already happened on 21st December 21, 1997 AD 14h 43m GMT.
3. The alignment takes place every 26,000 years, which means it's happened several times already in human history, and we're still going strong.
A relavent quote from Sandra Noble, executive director of the Foundation for the Advancement of Mesoamerican Studies:

No.
I know most of that information you posted, and I never said it would be the end of us. The end of the long count comes on the alignment with Hunab Ku- the galactic center.
Personally, I'd be inclined to believe that something rather than nothing would happen, simply because having them predict such an accurate string of solar and galactic happenings that lead them that far into the future only to suddenly have it stop without rhyme or reason just makes no sense. Talk about a candle fizzling out...
Anyway, Hunab Ku was, to the Mayas, the supreme God and ultimate Creator. It represented the gateway to other Galaxies beyond our Sun as well as all of the Consciousness that has ever existed in this Galaxy. Hunab Ku, according to the Mayas, is also the Consciousness which organized all matter, from a "whirling disk", into stars, planets and solar systems. Hunab Ku is the "Mother Womb" which is constantly giving birth to new stars and it gave birth to our own Sun and Planet Earth. They also believed that the "Creator" directs everything that happens in our Galaxy from its center through the emanation of periodic "Consciousness Energy" bursts.
Welcome to 2012 thread 23k.2, enjoy your stay.
To quote SolSyke.
I once heard that what happens when the solar system gets to this part of the galaxy is that it's bound to get crossed by more asteroids and stuff. Don't know what the reason for that was, though.
While not doubting the mayan's knowlege of astronomy, their civilization wasn't around the last time this happened so I'm guessing that their beliefs on what happens during these alignments were purely religious - not unlike what happens with christians and all the apocalyptic dates. They did rule much of their lifes by what went on in the sky, right?
most of you have had some amazing points. especially sol-skye... i had a feeling i'd see you post on this topic. keep it up, this is interesting.
It took an expert to discover they knew more than us and that they left and planned to return deliberately.Quote:

Other way round wise guy.
Okay, firstly Solskye, there are not black holes in the center of the galaxy, they are nexi of electrical cords that align the universe. Watch "Thunderbolts of the Gods" on google or youtube.
Secondly, galactic alignment is for realz. Energy is already being transferred at an alarming rate.
This alignment happens twice every great cycle, or once every <13,000 years. The timing of this cycle represents a great challenge to mankind to choose eachother over themselves. If they succeed, they move onto the next stage of existence. If they don't... they end up like the previous generations of mankind.
But like Solskye said, believe what you will. I've posted my entire argument before and I'm not about to do it again for a kid that wants to know he has no future and a bunch of pseudo intellectuals without enough respect to pull their thumbs out of their asses. The research is out there, look up Near Death Experiences and instead of just looking at ways that it's wrong, try also looking at ways it may be right. Look up what the Aztec Long Count really is and what people are saying about it. Look up the state that our solar system is in right now.
The calendar on my wall ends on 31 December 2008...
Is there a source for that?
Here, it says this:

The idea of an object with gravity strong enough to prevent light from escaping was proposed in 1783 by the Reverend John Michell (...)
By the way, we're always aligned with the center of the galaxy.
If for some reason you mean crossing the galactic equator, I can tell you I'm pretty sure that happens on cycles of millions of years, not thousands.
26.000 years is the number associated with the cycle of the precession of the equinoxes, although that number has decreased and the cycle now is approximately 25.765. So we could say "2012" already happened, around 1777.
The LHC will start operating. And as if that isn't cool enough, there's a chance we'll wipe out the planet.
