Try a few RC's in a row. Try from your most used RC to the leats used. In my exampe it would be check hands, pinch nose, push my fingers through my hands then the jumping method. I guess we like the same RC's :D

Add some more weapons to your arsenal. I do in this order and I keep going down the list if someone gives me a positive:
1st - Hand check. TWICE or even THRICE. It has happened for me that I got a false positive the first time, but then, they screw up on the second try and I turn lucid.
2nd - Looking around.
3rd - Gravity test. Try a couple or three times also!
4th - Try to read something twice whether is the time or a note.
If those four are positive, I am awake. I doubt all four will give false positives. I never liked the nose pitch one, not at all!
This happened to me last night but a little differently, I got a little confused I counted my fingers repeatedly getting more than 5 a hand, I double checked with a nose RC like I usually do plugged my nose and tried to breath in but couldn't breath. It was almost like it was coming from my memory of the many failed nose RC's from RL just playing out.
I have also counted 5 fingers in the passed a few times that's why I never EVER just do it once usually 3, to at times 4 or 5 and always look away then look back, even a eye movement away.
I agree with many people saying expect it to work, its not full proof but that will help lots. The digital watch from my personal experience has had the best result, cause its so hard for your brain to replicate something complex completely when you look away and look back expecting a different outcome, when that part of the brain is not fully active.
