Please lend support and recommendations!

I've come to ask advice from you all about finally having a lucid dream. I'd be eternally grateful if you'd lend me your support!

I've read up on all the different techniques for obtaining lucidity (MILD, WILD etc.). I understand that WILD is the most difficult to master, but I attempted it for an afternoon nap anyway since I only had about 7 hours sleep previously.

The method I tried to use was a timer that beeped every so often - a method I'd found by researching at lucidity.com. Apparently, it's meant to confuse your body about what’s going on so it decides to put itself to sleep even though your mind is still awake. I managed to get to a point where my body felt deeply relaxed with what I believe to be body paralysis - but I was interrupted by my phone (:panic:).

I also tried using binaural beats to help me have a lucid dream, and got to the point where I felt my body lifting itself (not sure if it was me or something to do with lucidity). At one point I was tempted to purchase an MP3 from the Unexplainable Store for a solution, but I'm not sure that it's worth it or if it'll even work!

Since I'm a complete beginner, I have only started my dream journal recently and whenever I find a method I'd think I'd try, it seems that it's trying to convince me it isn't good to use.

Could anybody lend me some advice of where to go from here? Which techniques I should try? If I should purchase any MP3 to help me?

Ok, well I'm not much more experienced than you are, I have only achieved sleep paralysis 4 times, but I think I can help you.

First off, just try to recall your dreams better. A little over a week ago, there was only one dream in my first Dream Journal entry. Now, Im getting 4 or 5 dreams a night, and I even had 6 but forgot it while I was jotting down the others!
Once your dream recall is up to this point or maybe higher (I'm not sure what everyone else gets), then try the methods. I can't see them working now, and even if they did, if you can't recall them, why try to get lucid in the first place?

Methods vary for each person. One might be good at staying awake wile letting the body drift off, while someone else may be able to wake up in the night and then wait for S.P.

Focus on your journal, then try the easiest method. I would suggest WILD, as it potentially requires the least effort.

Ok you need to know what's LD really about is just making yourself conscious while in Dream State, during dreaming there's no logic, you could be fighting Adolf Hitler with a stick and a bone and it would seem like a day in the park for you.

Ok so what we need to do is to create a link between conscious and dream, since brain itself shuts down logic center while in REM (Rapid Eye Movement is when you actually dream)

What I've found usefull goes beyond techniques, since not everything works the same for everyone, you need to train your brain (while awake) to notice the stupid stuff about dreams, and tell him that is not possible and that If he ever sees that again then that's because you're dreaming, try to look for surreal things in your dream journal, if you have a pretty good dream recall then you're better than me xD

I can't recall s!"#$, I can remember my LD's pretty well but I can't actually remember a lot of stuff about non LD's dream, I just remember the place, and what happened...but I almost always have the same dream in the same place or town so I just tell myself if you ever find yourself in that place RC (reallity check) and I've had to the point that when I see in this place I automatically know I'm dreaming

I'm not a master, but I can be cocky about it saying that I've had LD's through my whole life withouth knowing what it actually was, I hope I can help you to get an LD since I believe is something we all have to experience as a human race

Since im working with audio aids myself i would advise you to try isochronic tones that u can spike in on a 35 min delay then turn off after 20secs. just long enough for you to loose awareness when u fall asleep and regain it once the audio kicks in then off. Im experimenting and finding good results. I believe the secret is in finding the right volume pitch, as in loud enogh to make u aware but low enough to keep your body sleep. it takes some tweaking but i think u can nail it. :-)

Ok don't make rash descions, how many lucid dreams have you had, if any? Lucid dreaming takes practice, so don't expect to get one very soon. It takes time to master it. So many ones I see people on this forum, who join, try WILD, don't get a lucid dream after a few days then quit. Don't turn into this person! I recommend not trying WILD yet. Start off with continuing dream journaling, and try to aim for DILDs. MILD is good. I also recommend looking The "all day awareness" thread by Yoshi. Try the saltcube timer thing again, that's what I'm gonna experiment now. I rarely WILD and if I do they are DEILDs, I prefer DILDs and things of the like. Start off slow, try visualizing and make sure to mix your techniques up. Once you get an LD from a specific method, try it again maybe for the next few days but don't always try that method. Try something different then maybe go back to it...
