Trying MILD keeps me wide awake

Ok so last night, it's around 3am, im DEAD tired about to fall asleep where i stand so i lay down to go to bed.I start my MILD techniques,telling myself how i want to have a lucid dream,how ill remember to do reality checks,etc etc.Well for some reason no matter how much i meditate and relax,it wakes me up more and more..The more i think about wild or not think about wild,if my mind is working at all,i stay wide awake.The onyl way for me to fall asleep is to erase my mind and just look at the blackness....any tips?

during my wild this morning i notied i was WIDE awake. and too excited to fall back to sleep but sure enough it started to work. (i stopped it because my heart rate shot through the roof and im still new at WILD). i did notice that i was 100% awake during what was happening. i was rather shocked it was working. just focus on the backness and breathe and mentall push your mind forward. thats what i did....not sure if this helps anyone but my wild worked a lot faster today when i sleep on my back with my arms above my head. dunno why give it a try lol

it sounds like you are thinking too much or maybe excited about the chance of having a LD. Before I attempt any form of LD induction I first take some easy, slow, deep breaths and count in my head to 100, then back down to 0. After this, my head is already pretty tired and empty.

The odds are that you are just over excited about it all! When I first started WILD I used to have difficulties actuallying getting to sleep. However, I found out that it can take from 5 mins to hours of lying down till you actually fall into a LD. So, be patient and after practise you will get used to the WILD experience and, thus you will find it much easier to concentrate.

lol im not talking about WILD,never really tried.Im talking about MILD...laying there about to fall asleep for the first time that night and im telling myself to remember to do rc's etc,no matter how relaxed i make myself,i stay up...ive attempted WILD once and i passed out before i could finish...ill apply these tips to mild though,should help.thanks
