The force is strong in this one....

Usually to reality check I'll attempt to move objects with my mind. I remember reading somewhere a while back that when trying to do something in a dream you should copy a character from a book or movie. Wanna fly? Do that get down on one knee thing like Neo from the Matrix or push my palm outward to move something away like I'm using the force. Anyway this usually works except after I realise I'm dreaming I try to move on to my next objective but then I lose control or wake up. Maybe I need to try something else? Slow down a little maybe?..

This happens for a lot of beginners, waking up straight after becoming lucid. It may be partly to do with your excitement levels? As soon as you become lucid, you get excited that you're in a dream, you finally managed to LD again, then you wake up. If you learn to control this excitement then chances are you will stop waking up. A way that I like to do it is this. Before I Reality Check, I think to myself, "Oh, this could be a dream!" and build my excitement up. I feel it welling up in my chest. I then calm myself down, carry out my hyper-aware Reality Check and then move on with my day-to-day life, remembering to stay aware of my surroundings and what's happening. I do this every single time I Reality Check and it has trained me to be able to keep calm when I become lucid in a dream.
