I think that everything is on a person by person level. Just like the time thing. Make sure to note when you wake up and how long you wake up. Try to do the same time 14 tries in a rowish (2 weeks). I think that not using an alarm keeps more awareness in dreams, but it takes a while to accomplish. Very worth it for me though. You can also do it multiple times a night if you have no troubles falling asleep. Try different times with everything you try. If you are having LDs, and an alarm goes off for your WBTB you will be mad. :P If you are having lucid dreams, then screw all the rest of your WBTBs and get as much sleep time as possible. These are 2 more reasons to not use an alarm.
