      Question about WBTB

Ok so normally in the morning my alarm goes off, and so I unlock it to turn the alarm off. If I want, I can always manage to go straight back to sleep without this disturbing me.
If I tried this alarm for my WBTB, would it matter if the lights flashed on me for a few seconds while I turned the alarm off? Because people have said this will ruin the effect and make it hard to go to sleep if theres a bright light so what should I do? I can turn the brightness all the way down but this is the only alarm I have.

Should still work, if it's only for a few seconds. I've got a similar alarm and have never had any issues.

From my experience you can do pretty much anything not longer then 10 minutes, just keep your awareness and keep your mind with your dream all this time.

Phone, lights, laptop, or anything never bothered me, cept the sound of the alarm which is normally made to take your awareness off of your dream self. I think that everything is on a person by person level. Just like the time thing. Make sure to note when you wake up and how long you wake up. Try to do the same time 14 tries in a rowish (2 weeks). I think that not using an alarm keeps more awareness in dreams, but it takes a while to accomplish. Very worth it for me though. You can also do it multiple times a night if you have no troubles falling asleep. Try different times with everything you try. If you are having LDs, and an alarm goes off for your WBTB you will be mad. If you are having lucid dreams, then screw all the rest of your WBTBs and get as much sleep time as possible. These are 2 more reasons to not use an alarm.

Agree, i don't see any reason to use alarm for better LDing either.

I use an alarm for my WBTB attempts simply because my body absolutely refuses to wake itself up without one! I've tried programming myself to wake up at my 'normal' wake time, 8 am, without an alarm but haven't yet succeeded in this.

I will say that while getting up long enough to quickly turn my alarm off has not in and of itself kept me from falling right back asleep, I do think the alarm itself has caused me to forget dreams that are already very "weak" to start with. Just the other day I had what I call a "shadow memory"--one of those things where you don't actually remember your dream, but you can **aaaalllmoooost*** recall it. If I have one of those, the sound of the alarm pretty much ruins my chances of recalling that dream.

I would recommend to DEILD for a moment and then wake your self up from that DEILD. Later on you will learn how to recall without DEILD, you will be somewhere in between awake and dream state and that will be enough to remember.

Waking up without an alarm takes a lot of will power at first, but it always takes you being on a good sleep schedule. If you are tired, your mind ignores it.
