Aware in real life, but not in dreams.

Hello DV, this been bothering me so much that i had to post
here for help, so here it goes.

How come i don't have any "signal" from my ADA trainments?
i do sessions every day about 3-5 minutes, i try to be aware as possible.
but the dreams just feel so normal. well i had 1 dream where some part of vividness
could be felt, i was riding my bike and i could feel the wind upon my face, and i had
3 lucids but they felt like normal dreams, i could tell myself i was dreaming thats why i call
them lucid. after 8 months my dreams didn't improve on anything, i know what you all will say.
that being fully aware on dreams will depend on the person. But could it take this long?

Hey Iriba I'm in the same boat as you. I've been trying for a year with not much but now I think I've found my sweet spot. Don't focus too much on how you do your techniques. Intent is the most important thing. as ive been trying to focus mine my dreams have become clearer and im coming close to havin my first i can feel it.

Just keep up your ADA but do it with better intent towards your goal. But most importantly have confidence, that's been my biggest block. Search intent for thread titles and you'll find some really good forums that have helped me. Also SilverBullets threads are really good. Good Luck :)

3-5 minutes here and there in waking life account to nothing in the timeless space of dreams.

You might not be tackling this correctly. I'm not sure what you meant with 3-5 minutes, but if you meant that you only 5 mins of ADA each then that's not even near enough. Otherwise, I'm not sure what's causing your troubles. It might be that you are not consistent enough, or that you do not have the confidence or motivation to do it properly every day.

Whatever it is, it might be a good idea to take a break every now and then. Whenever I stop having lucid dreams it's usually because I've fallen into a slumber where I do reality checks but don't actually think about them and have little motivation, a break can solve this by giving you some time to recover before you start again with fresh motivation.

I totally agree with dutchraptor. I practice ADA as well (as long as possible each day without stressing myself too much) and it does have effects on the vividness of my dreams. I think it won't (necessarily) lead to any lucid dreams from practicing it so sporadically (a few minutes per day). However if you intensify your practice (with the right amount of confidence and motivation as dutchraptor said) then you will greatly increase the vividness of your dreams which is something great as well and you will eventually have more lucid dreams :) I am absolutely certain about this.

You might also consider the you way you do your ADA. I don't think just sitting and noticing everything will be of much use. The key is your SELF-awareness. Noticing everything around you can be helpful and good, but it will be a thousand times better if you are aware of yourself... your effects on your surrounding, of the activities you do, why you do them, how you do them, what you feel... notice how I use "YOU" a lot? That's what it's all about. You are in the centre of your practices and that's what you should be aware of. If you become aware of the function that you have and all the things that your surroundings do to you and what you do to them then this will eventually give you many LDs. I'm working on this right now and I can already feel great improvements of my vividness in dreams and last night I had a LD :)

I'm sure you can do it! Just take a break for 2 days or more if you want and then slowly start to review everything you want to do and how you should do it for the maximum success! :) Keep us updated about your progress!

That's exactly how i do my ADA.
I notice everything around me.

5 mins of ADA isn't enough?
I do each one after 30 mins - 1 hour
so basically i do 10 per day i suppose.

I guess everyone's different, but I have a whole range of vividness in my regular dreams, from very hazy and vague to very vivid.
But that just doesn't compare to the few lucids I have had - they have been so shockingly realistic it's like night and day! It's a bit like the difference in a regular dream where it's like looking at the world through a sheet or screen, where even the vivid dreams are a bit hazy and non-descript, whereas the lucids are like super-bright colourful real life.

Perhaps you just haven't actually yet experienced a proper lucid - at least not with any clarity?

However, if you have felt wind on your face that is a good sign I think. Any stimulus outside of the visual is good.

What induction techniques have you tried?

yeah the "wind on face" dream must be my best vivid dream i've had
until today, kinda sucks...

am i wrong in saying ADA stands for All Day Awareness?????????

in either case

all DAY awareness is the KEY to the door of NIGHT awareness

once you open the door youre halfway there

ADA is amazing but maybe you should try some different techniques.

I agree with dutchraptor and benni, you should definitely practise more ADA. Do it for longer, at the frequency that you're doing it just now. The point is that you start to incorporate it into your life, so it becomes a lifestyle instead of a chore. You should start doing it longer and longer, increasing the length of your sessions until you're aware all day and it's completely natural.

Also, a break could be a good idea, as dutchraptor said. It might just be exactly what you need. Have a break then start again, and it might get you out of your rutt :)

oh i dont know man... i really don't want to take a break, i want to have a lucid dream so bad.
And it's kinda hard to adapt ADA to my lifestyle, many thoughts start comming in my mind.

Even just a week of rest for your mind can be helpful. Just focus on your recall instead of Attaining Lucidity for a week or so.

Yep, it will be hard. It's definitely not easy to change your lifestyle, and takes dedication. You just gotta weigh up the pros and cons. I think the hard work is shadowed by the benefits, so it's totally worth it.

In the end you can still just do what feels best for you.... You seem to like ADA. And if you are dedicated enough then eventually you WILL find a way to integrate ADA in your lifestyle. It all comes down to practice, consistency, determination and motivation.

It's not a matter of liking, to be honest i find it pretty annoying to do it.
It's more a matter of trying to make it as a habit.

If you find it annoying then it will never become a habbit. You will always have to force yourself to do it if you don't like doing it. Maybe you should just look for something else or modify it so that you find it easier to do or more amusing? :)
