Here's a tech I came up with. It's not entirely new, but it should work rather well for any sleep cycle.
Here is how I came up with it:
It was 9 in the morning, and I started dreaming that I was listening to the radio. They were doing a feature where they were explaining the history of the band Gorillaz. All of the sudden, I found myself in a large snowy ice field (strikingly similar to Sidewinder from Halo) and I started walking around. A few seconds later, a song by Gorillaz, Feel Good Inc. started playing (don't know from where, seemed to just start coming from the sky). A few minutes later, i saw the members of Gorillaz drive past me in a car, and i woke up. The thing is, when I woke up, the video for Feel Good Inc. was playing on my TV (i left my TV on VH1, and they were playing music videos). So I figured the song must have entered my dream and made me think about it. So i thought, "What if I could initiate a LD with this?".
So here are the steps you should try:
1. Pick a song you like. Pick a song you like A LOT. One you listen to often and won't get sick of. Also, make sure you know the artist who does it, obviously. Whenever you hear this song in real life, do a reality check.
2. Set it to play while you are sleeping. This is the tricky part, for those of us who cannot fall asleep with music on. You could try getting a roommate, friend, or parent to play it in the early morining, and leave it on loop. If you can fall asleep with music on, do so with it looped. Make sure it's loud enough to make you know it's there, but not too loud in order to wake you up when it comes on. If neither of those applies to you, just add many long tracks of scilence to play on your computer or sterio, then make the song loop. I will personally help anyone who needs it with this, just PM me.
3. Do a mantra that will remind you to RC when you hear the song. Something along the lines of "When I hear ____(the song name) I will do a relality check."
4. Go to sleep.
Of course, you don't have to use songs, you can record youself saying "This is a lucid dream, do a reality check" or something. But there are already programs to do this.
Since I haven't fully tried this yet, this tech is still in testing. Post here if it gets you any results, and good luck with it! :D
