OMG, I LOVE the nose one! Ahhh, Always, I'm like :plug: and like I must not be dreaming.
Sorry about that.
Checking my digital watch! I've become lucid with it about 25+ times.
I used to do the clock check, but I would always make up excuses as to why the time kept changing.
Clocks are my current favorite RC. But my RCs tend to be more dynamic over a long period of time. In a couple of months a different RC will probably work better.
Would switching the light on be a reality check? I want to try that out tonight but I'm thinking that my mind might just as well make the light go on in my dream like it would normally..lol
It may work for you - many people describe device failure as a common dreamsign (therefore making it into a RC). You'll just have to try it and see!Quote:

Flying. I can always remember to attempt flying. I've had clocks go crazy on me once and it worked as a RC but I never see that many clocks in dreams :?
Finger through the hand!
Watches and clocks are never in my dreams :(
RC's haven't worked for me. When I have an LD I just know I am dreaming.
Well besides the fact that I didn't remember any of my dreams last night, I'm starting to think the "nose" technique doesn't work.
The "clock" technique helped me look at clocks, but like I said, I would just make up an excuse as to why the time kept changing.
It can be so disappointing when looking forward to sleeping (and LD'ing) the entire day, only to fail once again. I really hope I find a good RC that works for me.
Why you expect success after... one day???
What I do is look at my hands, try to put my finger through my hand, and try to breathe through my nose whiole pinching it. I am not RCing regularly enough yet, though. It also hasn't had enough time to transfer to my dreams, I will have to do more and continue trying. I like these checks because you can do them very subtly, and they are more convenient then looking for a clock or something to read in my opinion.
Flying!! Of course I'm going to do that one day when I am really awake and boy will I feel stupid!
But what exactly is the purpose of a reality check?
If you are in a dream and are lucid enough to think about doing a reality check, you probably don't need it anyway.. Don't you?
I'm just beggining to try to recall and LD. Usually my dreams are rediculous and make no sense what-so-ever, so I just look around and take everything in to make sure the world is working the way it should. I hardly ever dream about clocks or lights or anything normal like that.
Yes and no.Quote:

Leave that to dream signs, and try to make those as common as possible.
Looking in a mirror is more of a fun thing
And light switches are often not there when you need them.
Neither are dream characters or open sky (could be indoors).

You'd be suprised how you can find yourself in a dream that you SUSPECT to be a dream... but you can't seem to convince yourself of it.
I spent my first induced lucid dream trying to prove to myself that I was dreaming... what a waste.
But you're right that in many cases you're already gaining lucidity by just considering to do reality checks.
However don't underestimate how stupid one can be when they're in the middle of a deep dream.
Yeah, I don't try to look at clocks in my dreams for any reason. It just happens.
Me too. They're just there. This same concept could work for any object, though.Quote:

If they just keep popping up, then it's more of a dream sign - triggering you to do reality checks or to simply know you're dreaming.
That's fine because that's pretty individual. Some people dream of clocks a lot. Others don't.
Relying on it is of course a totally different thing.
I almost always know when I am lucid, the reality check is just to make sure I am kucid before I do something stupid.Quote:

Ahahah, good point there seeker..
Oh god I am dreaming, let's jump a building....
''Hey man, what are you doing up there, go down right now, you're going to hurt yourself''
- ''Haha, don't worry man, this is a dream...nice suit by the way''
*Jumps from building and dies*
What's the nose one?
Pinch your nose and if you can still breath trough it, then you are dreaming, read the tutorials section, there are also other great techniques there.
And to not to go off topic, my favorite is the nose one, it has induced my first (and only) lucid dream :)
The Nose Pinch worked for me, but I have only had one LD and it happened earlier today. I like the Nose one because your fingers and nose are always accessible.
Also, the feeling is amazing! You know you shouldn't be able to get any air, yet you do. Mind blowing sensation. I did it a few times after I became lucid just for the feel of it. :)
