My Mind Trying To Stop Me From Being Lucid?

ok, every time i get close to WILD, the same thing seems to happen. i will get to the hi and everything is ok, then i will get the weirdest/creepy sounds. the last time it happened, it was hi pitched sound that just kept repeating. when it started the first time, it sounded like it was right outside my window.

the first time didn't get to me. every time it repeated, it got slightly louder and closer each time. i finally opened my eyes, because it sounded like it was RIGHT in front of my face. this seems to happen every time i get close to having a wild.

could this just be how WILD works for me, and i could use that as a clue to how close i am. does anyone else get this? its almost like my mind knows what i am trying to do, and it tries to prevent me from succsess.

Hypnagogic imagery isn't the only type of hypnagogia. There is also hypnagogic sound hallucinations, which is what you're experiencing. On the verge between waking and sleep it's common to hear and see things that aren't really there - the illusions, both visual and audio, that appear due to sleep onset.

i know about those, i mean the sounds i get are ALWAYS the same. also, when i try to wild, the pattern is like this:

nothing --> hi --> sounds and hi

is it common to have the same sounds every time, because for me they always seem to be. its always a high pitched type of sound that repeats over and over and seems to get louder/closer each time it repeats. even the hi i get seems to be the same.

its almost like the whole thing follows a pattern for me, but it always seems to get me at the very last part.

If you are truly experiencing a WILD onset it is possible to slightly alter the images/sounds/whatever.

It sounds to me like you are focusing all of your attention on these sounds. And there's almost like a law with WILD - the more you focus on some aspect of the onset the stronger it becomes. Therefore I recommend not paying attention to any onset. Just monitor the duration of the onset and once you pass a minute or two mark open your eyes and do a RC...

As for following a specific pattern, I havent experienced that. I used to hear different variations of "wake up" , or "it's time to get up" said by different voices... But that's as close as it gets. This is part of the reason why I recommend ignoring all and any hallucinations you experience during WILD.

I'm curious about HI/sounds. Do they occur when your brain stops receiving input from your body, or something?

Can't really say whether or not hearing/seeing the same thing every time is normal, but I'd guess that it's pretty common.

ok, i will try that. i think i am getting close, and i will get it soon. i just have to figure out the part i am missing. i don't give up easy, not untill i get what i want. in this case though, i won't give up once i have it.
