70% better chance for lucid dreaming and remembering dreams

let me first say that i am NOT malac and for me this techinque works really well as it has led to many lucid dreams and better dream recall...

Here is my technique....its called MBBILD (Meditation Before Bed Induced Lucid Dreaming)

the idea is to meditate before falling alseep...this should make you fall into the state needed for attaining lucidity...

i found the 70% part by conducting a 10 day experiment (thats why i havent been online for a while) i have been going through a dry spell for the past month leading to little or no dream recall... by trying MBBILD i managed to attain lucidity for 7 out of those 10 nights, while in the other three i had good dream recall....

this was attained by sitting cross legged on my bed...back straight...tongue curled (or raised) touching the room of my mouth...eyes shut and focussed on achieveing lucidity while in that state, even though its not impossible to sleep sitting in that position (but extremely difficult) odds are you wont so you will get your mind and body ready for the real thing later.....then after about 30 minutes...stop and sleep...try any technique you want....by adding this technique to it, it should increase the chance of success by about 70%...

try it...and report back....this isnt the lucid dreaming holy grail....but its pretty close

EDIT: just to set the record straight this techinque does not invovle a mantra or any other form of audible persuasion, therefore it cannot be deemed as a variation of MILD....although feel free to include a mantra...as long as it doesnt break your concentration then it can only add to the effect...

just in-case you are not sure about what to concentrate on, concentrate on the feeling which you get while lucid...this will prepare you for the dream state...

Hrmm, sounds fascinating, perhaps I'll try this tonight before bed, and then doing a WBTB. I'll let ya know how it goes. I don't know about 70% since not everyone has the same results, but I'm sure if you beleive and visualize and make sure you actually feel confident that it CAN help, it very well may. Thanks for the idea.

I already meditate, it improves awareness, so I get alot of DILD's.

its not necessarily auto suggesstion as you arent really suggesting anything....its more of a preparation...preparing your body and your mind for sleep...but keeping the mind conscious..

this is not a form of MILD as there are no mantra's or suggestions in the technique...its all just preparations...
it has been proven that meditation helps you sleep so it is only logical for it to assist lucid dreaming

But this is telling yourself you're going to do it, and thinking about LDing and such. The same thing could happen if you simply told yourself you were, with less action. This isn't a tool for inducing it, more of an exstension of a method.

yes it is an extension of a method as i originally wrote, this method should be used with another to increase the chances of success...that is what this method is, it isnt a method in itself, it is a way to assist other methods, by combining them....although it can be used as a method alone, the results would not be as productive....

and odds are the same thing wont happen if you tell yourself you will have a lucid dream...that is MILD....a completely different technique to this one...the results would be different as this technique physically prepares the body for sleep and preparing the mind for relaxation, while MILD simply impliments it into the subconscious, im not saying MILD isnt an effective technique but it would be a lot more effective when combined with this one

and you are not telling yourself that you will have a lucid dream in this method you are giving yourself a better chance of having a lucid dream, by relaxing your mind and body before sleep..there is no auto-suggestion involved as you are not involving the subconscious, instead you familiarise your conscious-self with lucidity.

Well, then advertise it as such.

And personally, meditating does help me LD, but only because it helps my awareness.

Interesting I am not big into meditating but from what it sounds like it has high success rate thanks for the contribution.

i find this interesting although confused , you say to meditate but concentrate on the feeling when transitioning into the dream? if so wouldnt that backfire as once u feel the transition feeling ur suppose to let it flow?

chosing to concentrate on the feeling is just an example for something for people to concentrate on....you can concentrate on anything while still relaxing the mind and body, but i believe that it is more productive to meditate on lucid dreaming as it is the goal that you are attempting to achieve....

and you are not supposed to reach the point of lucidity (or the transition)while in that position, you are simply trying to get your body and mind used to the concept of lucidity, because dreaming, let alone sleep is very difficult in that position. after this you will be more familiar with the lucidity feeling therefore when trying to lucid dream with another technqiue later on you will increase your chances of success...

the reason you get your mind and body used to lucidity is because if you are in a lucid dreaming mind state while falling asleep then you arte more likely to fall into that lucid state quicker and with more ease...once again increase the probability...

I used to do what I believed to be meditating, but the more I think about it..in all honesty, I'm not entirely sure what it really means to meditate?

a lucid feeling is aessentally a feeling of power...an example of this is an extremely happy moment in your life...if u have not experienced the feeling of lucidity then a feeling of extreme haapines is probably the closest feeling...at least that is what it feels like for me...

what it really means to meditate is to concentrate your body and mind towards one goal simulatneously....essentially being at peace with ones self

That makes sense. I have only been really vividly lucid once. I think i felt the most joy that the mind is capable of producing. It was only a few weeks ago but I've had problems reproducing that feeling due to my deep frustrations with not having had one since then. I've had plenty of DILDs but they are really really weak.

What I guess I mean is what is the meditative state? Is it like being in a trance where you get hypnagogic imagery and stuff? I guess I never really udnerstood what it means to meditate. I'll give it a go...How long does it normally take? Sorry to ask so many questions

I have a question and don't know if I should post it here or if it's already been asked. So, if and when I get to the point that I have LD's just about every night, should I continue to record my dreams in my journal every day or just every so often? Thanks if anyone can give me help and I'm sorry if this has been asked in the past.

I know I should meditate more, but I'm so friggin lazy. When I do get around to doing it before bed, I usually become aware of the hypnagogic state as I'm falling asleep. I should have ridden them out into lucid dreams instead of getting up to write them down.

Nice thought. I have been in a dry spell myself. Back when I was getting 1 - 2 LDs/week I was doing the MILD method but now that I think think about it was also doing a variation of your method as well, though I was lying down. I think I will give this one a shot. Thanks.

it can take how ever long you want..i recommend 30 mins, because to begin with its harder to remain so calm and still for longer....

meditating itself is just clearing your mind, do not try to force yourself to have hypnotic imagery or anything because meditating itself is basically staying calm with a clear mind...or fully concentrating on a certain subject (but not too hard because it will break you out of your calm state)...

sounds cool, ill give it a try tonight but keeping this up will be a different matter, well the LD motivation amy keep me doing it
