So people got into SP by just laying on their backs?

I've read about how to get sleep paralysis. Usually the technique goes that you have to lay still on your back on the bed. I've tried it hundreds of times but always with no success.

I've tried it with counting, but it perhaps kept me awake (what's the point of that?). I've also tried the one method where you just
think about nothing and wait for the SP symptoms to appear, I always end up laying in my bed for hours and then I just give up.

Should I be sleepy to get SP? Is it possible at all to induce it without sleeping first? I would be so happy if I could do it even occasionally.

Are you just randomly trying throughout the day? If so, that's the problem. That way means that you have to lay there upwards to 90 min and if you want to WILD, the dream would only be about 5 min (I've never been successful so I'm not sure when SP kicks in). But, your body naturally wakes up several times in the night after REM sleep. So, if you can figure out your sleep cycle, you could wake up after about 5-6 hours and everything comes quicker because you naturally get REM sleep. Sorry if I didn't answer your question (or if I got any info wrong...).

When im in my bed watching a film just before going to my bed i always slip into a Sleep Paralis ,
that is how i found out about Lucid dreamig ,
beacause i was looking up the internet sleep paralis and i found this websit lol

yahh same thing happens to me
i even tried last night, i woke up at 4am and tried to SP
and i was lying on my back for maybe an hour and i thought it was maybe working cause my body was getting all numb but it didnt go anywhere from there, cause i started coughing out of no where and kept having to move because of it. i ended up lying in my bed till 7 30 before i fell asleep but by then i gave up and i didnt even pay attention or realize it:(

Ah that explains why i keep entering sp and when i wake up i always find i am sleeping on my back.

I never get into SP on my back. Left side works best for some reason. Remember, the goal is not to get into SP, that will happen naturally when you fall asleep.

The goal is to enter a dreaming state directly. SP will take care of itself. :)

yeah.. when i was first trying this i thought it had to be done on the back..

just do it where you feel most comfortable.

i sleep on my side, and so had great trouble trying on my back, but it works best when you are most comfortable. and thats the main thing.

For some reason my body falls asleep faster on my back, but not my mind. I always sleep on my side or stomach, but when I try to WILD like that, I get no where fast.

Yes I'm trying it when going to sleep.. I wish I had the time to do it at morning after I've woken up, but I have to go to school.

Little off-topic, but is it possible to LD by using the breathing counting-method before going to sleep? I always tend to fall asleep when lyin on my side.

Sleep Paralysis occurs when you wake up in the middle of your REM sleep. During your REM sleep your body "locks" itself to prevent you from acting out your dreams. That's why you mostly get SP after having a lucid dream, cause the fact that you are lucid often wakes you up eventually and if you're lucky in the middle of your REM sleep. If you think SP is that numbness you might get after lying in your bed WILDing for a while then you are WRONG. SP often occurs when waking up from a nap since you often enter REM sleep immediately then.

Most times I get into SP on my back. But a few times I have gotten into it from lying on my stomach!

what I would do is listen to music not too loud but soft enought that I can relax and sleep... then I will notice the music muting on its own (no the CD is not skipping) and when I relize this i try to stay some what in a relaxed focus state , I get the buzzy sinking feeling... now my only problem is entering the dream

Wait, so everything I have been reading states what when WILDing you will go into sleep paralysis, then start to see and hear things, then then transitional phase sets in from awake to dreaming, but you are awake for the transition into sleep paralysis.

So are you just saying don't worry about feeling sleep paralysis because it comes after you enter the dream? And you will only experience full paralysis after you begin a LD?
