The problem is, you usually become lucid when you are in the very lightest part of your sleep cycle. So you're already extremely close to being awake.
So my second instinct would be that you are simply realizing you're dreaming when you're already at the tail end of your dream--essentially, you're realizing it almost as you're waking up (there's usually this period of about 5-10 seconds at the end of your dream where you can actually feel yourself waking up).
Have you only been trying to LD for a month? If so, just keep at it. You're doing amazingly well. The hardest part is just getting lucid in the first place. After you have a lot of LDs, you'll gradually start becoming lucid earlier in them.
And like has been said before, WILDing might also be something you can look into if you aren't seeing any improvements and you're getting frustrated.
