      Question Can't stay lucid

So since I have stated on dv nearly 1 month ago. I have found many oppertunities to LD. I Keep having the same problem, which is everytime I think to my self hey I am dreaming I go from dreaming to awake before I can even finish the thought. At first it was due to the excitment however, lately when I noitce I am dreaming my excitment level stay the same. I don't have time to even finish saying hey I am dreaming let alone spin around or rub my hands together. I have never even tried RCing in my sleep because I just know i am dreaming. Pretty much the problem is thinking "i'm dreaming" but if i don't have that thought then I don't become lucid in the first place. Any one else had this problem and what did you do tho fix it?

You can try dream re-rentry method. When you wake up from your lucid dream...don't open your eyes, don't move, stay still and do a "WILD". That is going back into the dream conciously. It takes practice because when I renter the dream....I loose conciousness.

WILD might work for you then, but as with all LDs watch out for FA's. It took me about 2 LDs to always check right after....usually when I FA I'm back in my bed trying to reWILD, but even if I stay with it I just end back in a dream and concsious (hence DIWILD). But are you sure it's just not vivid HI that you're having?

My first instinct was that your excitement jolted you awake, but you said that you began to keep yourself calm.

The problem is, you usually become lucid when you are in the very lightest part of your sleep cycle. So you're already extremely close to being awake.

So my second instinct would be that you are simply realizing you're dreaming when you're already at the tail end of your dream--essentially, you're realizing it almost as you're waking up (there's usually this period of about 5-10 seconds at the end of your dream where you can actually feel yourself waking up).

Have you only been trying to LD for a month? If so, just keep at it. You're doing amazingly well. The hardest part is just getting lucid in the first place. After you have a lot of LDs, you'll gradually start becoming lucid earlier in them.

And like has been said before, WILDing might also be something you can look into if you aren't seeing any improvements and you're getting frustrated.

Excitement is not what wakes you up. That is just what you believe. Believe that you will stay asleep and you will. Its all in the Schematas.

I recommend IMMEDIATELY performing RCs even though you already know for sure that you are dreaming. The reasons for this are

      1. It gives you something to do which makes you less likely to wake up. Standing around thinking about the fact that you're dreaming is dangerous - you'll either get distracted by a DC and forget you're dreaming or you'll wake up, as is happening to you.
      2. It makes you really focus on the fact that you are dreaming for long enough to sink in so you are less likely to forget when you start adventuring.
      3. It helps form a habit of performing RCs whilst you are dreaming which makes you more likely to become lucid in the future.

My favourite RC is the nose pinch because you can do it immediately and it always works. Second I do a finger count. Third I put my hand through a solid object.

If you muck around looking for something to do a RC you're liable to get distracted or wake up. You need to prime yourself during the day that the next time you become lucid you will immediately pinch your nose and try to breathe. I would actually do this RC regularly throughout the day to help prime yourself for when you're dreaming.
