I tried keeping my eyes open on Friday and had an awesome lucid. My girlfriend woke me up an hour or two into sleep by talking on the phone and banging around the house playing with balloons (I know...). I worked out too hard that day, so no relaxation techniques were working. I felt all jittery and all my muscles felt tight. After 30 minutes of lying in bed unable to go back to sleep, I got up and got a drink for a few minutes.
I did some stretches and went back to bed. I wasn't trying to WILD at all. I really focused on relaxing my feet and shoulders into the mattress. I think I started reverse blinking at one point to clear my thoughts. When I really felt myself start to relax and start to fall asleep, the reverse blinking reminded me of this technique. I felt that falling/ spinning sensation that means sleep is approaching. I opened my eyes and tried to focus on the doorway. The falling sensation disappeared, and I felt like I was fully awake. I rolled over onto my side, and felt myself instantly enter sleep paralysis.
I had this dream:

I think opening my eyes at the last second before sleep really helped launch me into a dream. It was a weird transition. Very abrupt. It felt like the times I have been startled out of sleep paralysis or vibrations. It was easy to return to the place I left off, only this time with a stronger consciousness.
I'll try this again. New techniques always seem to work for me the first time. Something about placebo and excitement trying something new.
