A few Questions
So I've been working for a couple weeks now on getting lucid. I've started a dream journal, and have noticed my recall improving significantly. So far, my 2 lucids have been DILDs, with the trigger each time being light switches not working. My problem is that I wake up almost immediately upon realization that I'm dreaming.
Last night, I was having a dream where I walked into my dark bedroom, and tried to turn on the light. It didn't work, and in an excited rush of realization it hit me that I was dreaming. I tried the switch again, which still didn't work, so I jumped on my bed and was immediately sucked like a vacuum cleaner under the bed by what felt like some malevolent force. I caught the edge of the bottom of the bed and held on against the vacuum, and was really pissed and yelled F*** YOUUUUUU and flicked off the unseen force, knowing that I was only dreaming. Then I woke up, after only having been lucid for a few seconds.
It seems like something similar happens each time I become lucid. In any case, I seem to wake up almost instantly. So has anyone else experienced this sense of sort of being "kicked out" of your own lucid dream? If so, how did you overcome it? I'm really excited to start exploring my dream world, but something seems to be blocking me.
Any thoughts would be appreciated :)
Thanks,

Well, the most similar thing that happens to me is that my brother will run up to me and pull me away from wherever I'm going until I wake up, mad that I wasted my lucid dream (it only happened twice and its not a problem anymore) but I've always experienced the "black out". I don't know if there similar but I'll still try to help.
First, to stay in your dreams, focusing on different sense then sight is really important. Normally, you'd want to touch anything in your reach. Eat it if you want. Keep your hand on something at all time.
But I don't think this is definitly the problem. I'm not sure about this right now, but maybe, since your starting and your dream control is not at its best (same here), I think that you need to go with the flow of the dream. Don't try to control it. Just keep going with the dream, but just try to keep aware that you're dreaming and just stay aware of your surroundings. Do RCs now and then but don't do any goals or go do something Lucid dream like. Well, that's what I'm planning into doing. And then, when you are able to stay lucid until you wake up naturally, then you can start trying to control your dream. Anyways, going with the flow of the dream isn't that bad either.
So, per exemple, if you get sucked into your bed, maybe just let yourself go. DOn't fight it. See where you get.
Another trick is to not express extreme emotions. Like, don't get too excited or too mad. If something goes wrong, its maybe not the best to scream F*** YOUUUUU 'cause then your anger wakes you up. I'm not sure about this, I never got mad in a lucid dream before.
Well, good luck :goodjob2:

Thanks :D
Haha, I didn't exactly mean to scream that, it just sort of happened (as did everything pretty much). But I think you're totally right about going with the flow. I'm just a noob ;)
I will definitely try to go along with things in the future. I've also read things about "spinning" (in circles) if you seem to be waking up from your LD, which is supposed to keep you in the dream I guess. Anybody know if there's anything to that technique?
Thanks :)

pretty much same here. it's been 18 days for me on this forum / in this training. i've had 1 LD so far, i was woken by a phone call.
anyways, the point is to not let it get to you, when you realize you're dreaming, stay cold inside, don't overheat like YES I DID IT, cause that will work negatively. try to stabilize your environment and all. also try focusing on your body. my first lucid: i didn't even stabilize the environment, i focused on getting my hands to catch on fire, and they did , and i remained very lucid untill i got woken by the call :)
you said it yourself, you were very excited , well, don't do that :D
happy yes - too excited no.
Focus on your body and the texture of things around you. don't go up in the storyline of your dream too much, at least not as a novice. Going into the story of your dream will result in destruction of your lucidity if you're not very good at it, at least that's my humble oppinion.

I had the SAME problem as you did, many many times before I joined this forum (pretty much like 3 days ago XD) but anyways, as the others have said, just don't get too excited, let yourself go with the flow in your dreams. Like when you realize it is a dream, try and remain as calm as possible, without losing your lucidity. I'm pretty sure this was a DILD but, DILD's arent my thing, had one (and that was PURE luck) DILD so far and it lasted for a few seconds. I have had a great success with WILDing. Although people say it is more complicated I had quite some luck with it (long LD on first try :)).
But anyways, thats what I think so far, havent had that much experience with LD's other than that, All I know is that I had this problem all my life until I had a WILD.

Thanks for the advice.
Next time I will try not to become over excited (which is hard for a beginner), and concentrate more on touching things, while going with the flow. I've never even attempted a WILD...well, not for years and years, anyway. I used to be into astral projection, and though I never really succeeded with it (life got too busy to practice), I used some similar techniques to WILD inducement. I think.
Anyway, I'll just keep practicing :)
