The New Technique, Fool Proof

Hello All,

This tutorial will be quite lengthy so please bear with me.
A little background info on this tut, and what will be needed, and what it will accomplish.

What you need:
Any kind of juice/water
A Plastic cup, *Not a Transparent One*
A Bit of Imagination
A Marker

It is a mental perception of what you are doing, in effort of tricking your body and making yourself believe that you are really doing what you tell yourself you are.

The TUT
1. Find A Plastic Cup and set it on the table.
2. Find some kind of juice in your refrigerator.
3. Get a marker and write Lucid Juice on the cup.
4. Close your eyes and tell yourself you are about to make lucid juice.
5. Take the juice and pour it in a cup.
6. Now the important part. Close your eyes and really make yourself believe that this juice has something special that will make you lucid. Wave your hands over the juice, and tell yourself that will make you lucid.
7. Since this should be done right before you go to sleep, drink this juice right before you go to bed.


Please post your results, so you can share the reliability of this technique to others.
If I was to give it an official name: PEILD (Placebo Effect Induced Lucid Dream)

This technique worked on my brother, who I gave a quick overview of lucid dreaming, and convinced him that this juice would make him lucid.
He described his lucid dream to be unbelievably awesome.
It was his first one, and I hope he asks me for "another cup of juice" tonight.

Same. If you know the juice isn't anything special, it won't work. I see how a placebo can be incredibly effective for lucid dreaming though, since confidence is the single most important thing.

Though, you could slowly condition yourself into believing it is indeed "Lucid Juice" and over time it may work.
It would take some serious self convincing techniques, though you could use it to help others lol

I'm guessing thats why it worked on my brother very well. I guess I should also note, that it's easier to do it to others than themselves..

Maybe I should write like a recipe of things to put in juice that would make you lucid, and not tell anyone that it isn't lucid juice. That may work..

I bring you good news :)
I prepared myself my little "lucid potion" yesterday, drank it an hour before going to bed,
and I had 2 DEILDs this morning :D!
Now, I think PEILD is more like an aid, rather than a technique, just like WBTB.
Because you don't really become lucid after drinking it, you just hope you will have a LD the night you drink it, in my case they were 2 DEILDs, aided by PEILD

Very nice I have thought about the placebo effect myself since it will take ne awhile to convince myself I will try this on my mother tonight and report the results tommorow

Hehe, after it works on your mom, make sure you try it on yourself :)

It's not the same as sharing lucid dreaming with another person, then having one yourself. Trust me.

THanks for this thread, CV. It's a good idea. I might give this a go, however I have already trained myself to have a lucid dream on any night I want so I won't know if it's working or not. However, I do believe your method is a good one. The reason being, I have often wondered if I can get lucid whenever I want simply because I believe I can. I think confidence and truly believing it will happen has a lot to do with the ability to get lucid.

Any technique that uses placebo, imagination or convincing oneself that something works isn't going to last past 2 nights. Because the mind gets tired of the idea. How are you going to maintain the same energy level night after night after night?

IMJ, I do not understand where you are coming from with the energy level. But the mind would not get tired of the idea, quite the contrary. It gets into a routine of having the "lucid" drink every night, so technically, after a habit is developed all you would need to do is drink whatever you were drinking to induce a lucid. Do you see where I'm going? If you drink something like Milk for the lucid juice before you go to bed, its positive in all ways possible. Helps Bones, builds calcium, and LDS!

Mrdeano is right in his comment. the technique may have worked better if you stated that a particular type of juice is great for inducing lucid dreams if you have it before bedtime. Then you could have made some elaborate scientific lie about why it works. Self-deception is a bizillion times harder than being deceived by others, and the technique that you are proposing is that someone ought to deceive themselves into believing something that they know is a placebo, actually isn't a placebo and is really somehow effective via means of placebo.
If someone succeeds with the technique then there is a good chance that their belief in the 'lucid potion' is reinforced. But if you fail, it takes even more self-deception to make the technique work.

JesterKK, this is why I have specified that you need to be good at convincing yourself. I am not stating that it's easy to do this technique, but you can always try to convince yourself.

I know what you mean...I'm just saying that after a while the mind gets used to the idea and brushes it aside as normal everyday life. It works now because it's still new and has high enthusiasm from the dreamer but will wane when he gets used to the novelty of the idea. I tried many things like that...lights, pills, redbull....they all work once or twice then fizzel off when I start to feel comfortable with the idea that it works....:P. But if you say it works for you...then I guess it does everyone's different...:D.

That's true...habit does set in, can't deny that. It's habit to keep wanting to lucid dream and I still do have them if I'm not too tired like I had one while I was confined to the bunker while in the army cause I had the cold for 3 days. So noone was in the room except me and it was napping all the way. Wish I had that nice lucid dreaming environment of the room again.

When I try and teach my yunger nephue in the future I will try this and I belive it will work very well on him because he can be gulable. I will try it tonight for the heck of it. I usualy drink water at night and when I drink propel or tea and forget its not water its a suprise at first. Maby if I wake up at night and drink some propel out of a water bottel and be like wait whats this then look at the label that says lucid juice, I can get it to work lol.

Meh it didn't work. I tried drinking it at 4:00am and tricking my self but its just to hard. I still know its just propel. It would still work on other people though.

Yeah, if you keep trying to convince yourself it may work.
You should drink the propel and be like, this is lucid potion, not propel. If you still think its propel do an RC and try again and try to convince yourself otherwise.

You'd be better off just telling us to drink apple juice, and then have confidence that it will work.

That wouldn't be a tutorial or anything then. It would probably sound like "yo dv, drink some apple juice it makes you lucid man! I would just sound like I was high and made a thread. In a civilized manner, I explained what needed to be done. It may be more difficult but at least you see where I'm coming from.

Personally it sounds silly to me, but I'm sure it would work in a proper Placebo situation giving it to someone else or someone else giving you something, but I doubt the average person could convince them selves they were actually drinking something special, but I'm sure this has already been said so I won't repeat the discussion

Although if you ever marketed such a thing, people would probably be more convinced it it tasted bad and was in a fancy container lol

But interesting guide, defiantly something to study, although I'm not sure "fool proof" is the right way of saying it.

Yeah, I guess maybe its not fool proof after all. Maybe after a Bit more research, I can make it live up to the title. I see where you guys are going, and getting at. But maybe for some people it may be beneficial.

This is NOT the placebo effect. The placebo effect REQUIRES that you not know of the "magic pills" lack of magic. By it's very nature the placebo effect cannot last, if it did then the FDA and any other drug company would be in serious trouble. Convincing yourself of a lie is not possible, anyone who tries this is already somewhat convinced it might work, if only to the point of "i can't think why it wouldn't". Someone saying it doesn't sound likely and saying im 100% sure it won't work are two very different things. This is normal, pavlovian conditioning. You are pairing a stimulus (the drink) with a response (lucid dreaming). Over time the bond between these two grows and the stimulus begins to produce the response. Of course this would only be conditioned if you begin to have lucid dreams while drinking your elixir. The post above me saying why not just drink apple juice is right, it's the same thing, the only difference by putting more time and effort into concocting your own "lucid drink" you are creating a stronger bond between the stimulus and the response by association.

Mmmm. I see that Nyrawake, and the more I think about it the more I realize you are correct. Although, I am still going to put an effort into seeing how this could potentially work. I think there may be a little loophole in this "placebo effect" that will allow your mind to give into the lie you are convincing it to be. This could still be considered a placebo effect, if you want to do it to another person. But yes, all of you are correct.

I haven't had any lucid dreams yet but I've only been trying for two days so i'm giving it some time

Charamarlw, Welcome to the forum. I didn't have any lucid dreams until two months after joining. I just want to give you some very straight and to the point advice. If you don't get an LD anytime soon, DONT GIVE UP! You just have to keep working at it, and you will get one. If you back off a little bit, you will have to start all over again, and start what you were trying to accomplish from the very start.

how did you get your first lucid what technique?

Well I happened to get a lucky DILD because I started to do 5 RC's a day. I recommend keeping a dream journal and start doing various reality checks such as Looking at the clock, look away, look again and see if time changed, plug your nose and try to breathe in through your nose, and if you can breathe you are obviously dreaming. :D

I tried this and i dont think it really worked :/ i even tried drinking something that ive never tried before (some sort of juice my brother bought) to help convince myself it was "lucid" juice. but it failed :( this is like trying to convince yourself a giraffe is a fluffy kitty. D:

The thread title shouldn't be fool proof. Unless it is meant to PROVE that you are a fool lol.
Because to convince yourself that a drink is lucid juice, that is, to use the placebo effect on yourself, you would have to be quite a fool.
Either that or have very strong convictions that it is true. But mostly this would work on more simple minded people I think.

Try this. It is a spell to help the juice work better. Don't worry though, this won't call upon any spirits. All it does is that it calls upon your mind to have a lucid dream ;).

1) Pour your juice into the disired glass. Your favourite glass + juice is best, although any glass or juice will do.
2) Now stir the juice three times anticlockwise, then three times clockwise. Utter the spell:

I call this juice to make me be,
Lucid, for an awesome dream
I stir this juice and so it be,
That I will have a lucid dream.

Note that the exact words do not have to be said; sometimes a slight variation is more effective.

3) Now drink the juice while asking your subconscious to have a lucid dream. Drink until there is only a dribble left.

4) Splash the dribble on your face, and say, ‘Seal the lucidity’.

Note: For the best effect, believe this will work! Belief power everyone!

EDIT: I assure you this isn't dabbling with the Occoult. You're not calling spirits when asking this, but rather asking yourself to become lucid, and this spell is to aid you with that question. Remember, a skeptical person can't cast this spell and make it work.

Ok now you ARE just being a fool. Placebo effect will work whether you take a pill or recite bohemian rhapsody backward 10 times. Spose a ritual might help to believe it a bit. But in general taking a non active pill will work just as well.

I'm sure this could work for some people, especially with the spell. Other things that might help would be using an expensive/elaborate ritual cup to drink out of, a unique/elaborate way of preparing the drink itself, etc. I think things like that give more significance and "weight" to rituals, allowing them to have more impact on the mind.

or concoct something, I'm gonna put some random juice, add glucose sugar, add some other juice, stir, drink slowly :P lol

this dosent really seem to be a fool proff method, and its not really new =P however if i want to get someone into ld this might work pretty well, as long as they dont recognize the flavor.

im gonna have to disagree with this. the placebo effect is essentially when you believe that something will heal you. before we understood this effect, placebos worked. now that we understand the theory behind it, and why placebos work, surely that can make belief in them even stronger. it does for me at least. understanding how the placebo effect works will only stop it working if you come at it from a pretty negative view. all about the power of positive thinking. however once you realise the power of the mind, then there is no need to put your faith in an external object, although it may help. nice method anyhow :)

for what it is worth i have used a similar placebo type effect while in a lucid, (drinking, smoking) while telling myself that it will make the dream more stable and last for ages. it works a treat
