Perfect Dream Recall but can't attain any LD, help?

Although I'm new here, I rather post this to Attaining Lucidity then the newbie thread. So I am a 18 year old male. I have perfect dream recall, even before visiting this website, I have a dream journal. Since 2008 I have had roughly 300 dreams or so that I have written down. So about 150 a year. That doesn't include the two months long breaks that I ignored (stupid me!). I can easily recall up to six dreams a night, if need be.

But the problem is I have only had one LD. It was about six months ago, I realize I was dreaming (I said out loud "I'm dreaming!" , but I barely could change anything. I have tried various methods, and have roughly the same sleep schedule. So can anyone help me out? I've looked through the forums, but nothing has directed me to my problems.

LDing takes practice, and if you have very good dream recall, try MILD, or DILD. It's all in the tutorial section of how to do them. I myself didn't have a lucid dream until about 5 weeks after i first found out and started trying. Some poeple are lucky and they have some veyr soon, like 1 week after starting. Others have to keeo trying for months before they have even one. It's all about practice and patience. Just keep trying, you'll get there.

As I understand DILD is when you know you are already in the middle of the LD and you realize it's a dream. I read somewhere that you must set your alarm clock 5-6 hours after you sleep, why is this so important? Wouldn't your REM get screwed?

If you set your alarm clock for several hours after you sleep, it is usually for a WILD or a DEILD, and most likely a WBTB. All of these require you to wake up in the middle of the night before an REM cycle, and then entr a dream from a waking state. If you are afraid of your REM cycle getting ruined, it won'. It's the same as you getting woken in the very early morning by say a thuinderstorm. Nothing is wrong with you, you just wake up generally during a dream. In order to get the best results for DEILD/WILD you have to figure out when your longets REM period during the night starts, and that takes a few nights of tyring and changing the times.
