Old Hag Syndrom - Are night terrors caused by ghosts? I think so
The name of the phenomenon comes from the superstitious belief that a witch - or an old hag - sits or "rides" the chest of the victims, rendering them immobile. Although that explanation isn't taken very seriously nowadays, the perplexing and often very frightening nature of the phenomenon leads many people to believe that there are supernatural forces at work - ghosts or demons. The above paragraph came from the website listed at the end. I thought it was a good way to start this off. I gotta say too, a killer tune to listen to while reading this would be a song called Black Ghost, YouTube - ‪Gay dad Black Ghosts‬‎ So, there that is.
Remember that part at the end of the sixth sense? Where Haley Joel Osment realizes Bruce Willis is a ghost and tells him the best time to talk to his living wife, is while she is asleep. I gotta say, in retrospect, that was brilliant.
Have you ever done a open eye meditation? Eye movement instantly snaps you out of meditation, strangely, it is harder to keep your eyes still while they are closed, as such, open eye meditation works wonders. I get mine from Carlos Castaneda, my favorite is using a small pebble to stare at to exclusian of everything else. The pebble, especially granite, absorbs your energy and starts to feel like a part of you, making it a deeper, easier meditation.
After doing this for a while (each person is different), the pebble being filled with energy from staring at it becomes "wavy" in a short while, everything becomes "wavy", I do believe this is a field that connects all living things. I suppose that is debatable though. After doing this meditation for a few years. Thirteen to be exact, the following took place.
I was lying in bed, open eye meditating on the cieling. I was staring at a piece of protruding stucco instead of a small pebble.
I then saw a tether of sorts, coming down from the cieling, what looked like the bottom of a old ragged cotton skirt, but more tentacle like. It was not unlike an eye floaty.
Transluscent and strangely searching. I normally blink stuff like this away. And I'm sure I could have done so this time as well, but some small part of me said go with it. So instead of shaking away the sight of this belt like apendige I went with it.
The aparition went away on it's own, so, I continued with my meditation. I didn't think anything too wierd about it, but now I was noticing a red tint that was blinking on everything about once a second.
I only barely noticed it, and thought with barely any significance that it must be my heart pumping blood into my retina. And then I saw a skeletal face in the red blinking tint.
You know those guys who read way too much? I'm one of those guys. I'm not flattering myself here, I actually think it counter productive to read too much.
Well, regardless, I for some reason, knew that this was an entitiy straight out of the tibetan book of the dead. A preta-loka. A hungry ghost.
Mind you I had never seen one before. I had never seen anything like this before. As as a neophyte in reiki I did something intuitive, I held out the palms of my hands and said "You don't have to take my energy, I'll give it to you".
I then watched my energy flow into the palms of this entity. I watched my energy flowing up his arms and giving his shoulders form.
I say this because, almost every single night terror I have had since, I could attribute to a ghost.
Upon waking I would sense their presense, and with a little effort, I could see them as well.
But although night terrors for me are extremely rare, a ghost in my dreams, is not. Most emotionally intense dreams I have of any kind I will wake up and notice a ghost in my room.
The Tibetan book of the dead states that ghosts who refuse to pass into the next world are disconnected from the life force of creation, and as such, must take it from the living. This is most easilly done by elliciting an emotional responce from a living person ie fear, terror, love, sensuality, sexuality, shame, inadequacy.
As a last message, if you want to see a ghost for your self. And that's entirely up to you, (carefull they may really like you after this).
This may seem counter productive, but after meditating and gaining stillness of mind, sit in complete darkness.
Ghosts are easiest to see in complete darkness. Willingly giving ghosts energy is an intoxicant most ghosts are incapable of refusing. So the palms facing outwards and projecting energy in the dark is a sure fire way to get some results.

I'll attempt to addresse your questions as well as I can, if you'll bear with me :)
I attribute most of my fear to some presence that keeps bugging me at home.. I've always felt strong emotions.. fear, and sometimes images in my head.. scary images.. sometimes I don't even like to look at myself in the mirror... I feel like mirros can show certain things that we couldn't see normally (I've never actully seen anything, but still), I avoid them... I know its stupid and I'm not as obsessed about it as I may sound.. but I live alone now, (my dad just passed away) and the apt gets really dark, and I can't help these images in my head... I spend a LOT of time alone.. I don't go out.. don't have friends at the moment.. they're all back in my country
Let me start by saying, ghosts can not acutally hurt you. Ghosts can not effect physical matter.
A ghost can not pick up something and throw it across a room. So if we come to some agreement that ghosts exist, let us not get too frettfull about it.

These folks with the exception of Mr. Sagan, document strange instances of "poltergiest" activity, but, don't attribute the acitivity to ghosts, but to something less easy to define, entities living like you and I, but of extra dimensional proportions, in access, being, and sensory capability.
Mr. Sagan gives an overview of what those beings would be like and what their relationship to us would be like from our point of view.
First off Jessie, you need to get some friends. Join a yoga class, go to a new age book store and sign up for every class/activity they have.
Take a college class or two. Take a dance class. Hang out at a local coffee shop (not a franchise) and read a book, and invite yourself into people's discussians,,,,(I'm guilty of this one, :cheeky: ). What about church? All kinds of Church's out there.
Now,,,, on to your comments. Yes, the things you are sensing in your home most likely are ghosts, dead people, those who have not moved on.
In my opinion, they are every where. I'll give you some pointers on how to lessen the effects and lower the traffic through your pad.
Contrary to popular belief, ghosts like people more than places. As such, the most haunted places are the places with the most people.
Ghosts do travel through walls, but they use the same spots repeatadly. These spots are lubricated, so to speak, with the human energy they have taken from people.
As such, if you smudge your walls with sage, cedar and sweetgrass, the lubrication is removed, creating a loss of energy for them when they want to travel through a wall, making your abode less attractive for them. Also, the more dense the material is they travel through, the greater the loss of human energy that they have taken from people is, so, marble tiles, cinder block etc, make wonderfull walls.
I have read animal skins serve as a non-conductive material as far as theses things go as well.
About the channelling dude, I just don't know what to say. In general, ghosts feed off energy, and they use emotional manipulation to get it. Some people may only be suceptable to it in thier dreams, others, may fall prey to it awake as well, as a heavy feeling, a perpetual dark cloud you can't get rid of, unexplained depression. I don't think ghosts ussually have any vandettas and I definatly don't think those vandettas carry over from past incarnations.

I struggled for a bit when first seeing these things as to what they were. I wasn't really ruling anything out. I thought, and felt they were ghosts, but, I knew dang well I could be wrong. The thought of me being wrong in the defining of what I was seeing lent eerie posibilities as to what these things could be, LOL far more eerie than even the definition I had attributed to them, which being discarnate humans.
A strange event occured about six months after all this started that lent corroboration to my defining of the events.
The event was synchronistic, and I felt, a gift for a gift.
I was laying on my couch about six months after my above first mentioned incident, reading from Plato's Dialogues in the book Phaedo, when what I felt was an extremely strong ghost presense that entered the room.
I once again, don't advise people to do this, but I felt the impulse to give this entitiy energy. What ensued was a mental conversation(it took well over an hour) that ended up in this being crossing over (in my opinion). When this happened an opening of sorts appeared and (i know this sounds kinda crazy) my living room was flooded with pinkish astral light.
This astral light combined with the energy field that courses through all things, making the field that naturally surroundes everything, easier to see, more pronounced. In the field, I saw a still picuture. The picture was of a pretty thirty something latin lady with a Betty Page hair cut cought in mid laugh.
The picture stayed in the field of energy for like five minutes. I sensed a positive presense that had come through the portal to help in the transition process, and I felt the presense stating that this picture is no accident.
The next day I was looking through the classified adds looking at cars. I was looking to buy a used car, and as I flipped the classifieds the obituaries flopped open and there, staring back at me, was the exact same picture of the woman I had seen on my wall the night before.
I was floored. I could now take it to the bank that what I was seeing were in fact ghosts, and that sense of knowing for sure has helped me immensly.
I guess you could say I'm kinda slow.
I'm not saying that every spectral presense is a ghost, but I definatly think the majority of them are.
