What does the vibrational phase feel like?

So I've been trying to have an out of body experience for the past week. My progress has been... very disappointing.

From what I understand separation occurs during the vibrational phase. Even when trying to WILD with lucid dreaming, I don't think I've ever remembered anything like a "vibration".

Whenever I get that far my body sort of jerks about. I always heard that this was to test whether I was still awake.

Are these vibrations? Or do they come after this? Can you explain what I should look for in the vibrational phase?

While these vibrations are a sign that your body is falling asleep you should try to pay no attention to them. My own technique is by walking up and staying completely still, you may start to feel vibrations and hear or see things but during this time focus on recalling your dream to pull attention away from these sensations. Once the feelings have subsided you procede to imagine the dream scene if you are already not seeing it, once there just try to float out of your bed and do a reality check. Next time don't try to aim to reaching this phase but aim for reaching past it.

Vibrations can be anything between very gentle and barely noticable (like when you put your hand on a purring cat) to very strong ones (as if you were holding a jackhammer). They can be in any part of your body, or in whole body. They can start weak and get stronger, or without changing intensity.

And I think I have heard, that your astral body separates not during vibrations, but just after they end. And there may be more than one bout of vibrations.

They feel physical, but they are not happening on the physical level. If anybody looked at you or touched you, they would not notice anything. Hope this helps a little.

I have been having the same issue although sunday I got to the vibrational stage i waited for them to die down but instead just woke up...I was so close...the vibrations were pretty intense

the first time it happened to me i was very surprised but also fortunately i had done my research and knew what to expect. i was amazed at how strong they were. i literally felt like i was in the middle of a major earthquake or connected to a jackhammer at high speed like i would fall apart it was so rough. what happens though if you ride it out and welcome it, the frequency of the vibrations gets stronger and stronger until eventually you can feel the vibrations flatten out (i'll try to explain) because they are so fast.
a good way to visualize what it actually feels like is to get a tuning fork and smack it against something. the feeling and the visual itself is the best way i can describe it. what's happening is your energy body vibrations are "tuning in" exactly like a tuning fork or tuning into a different radio station. your energy vibrations are literally tuning into a different frequency which allows you to experience that frequency. you can also think about it like watching a wave frequency on a graph. for me the vibrations start strong , on the graph i would picture it as tall waves up and down, feeling very rough at this point, but as you continue to fine tune the waves get smaller and smaller until eventually they are perfectly tuned into the frequency you are trying to reach. as you get closer to being tuned in the vibrations feel more powerful but in a pleasant way. at that point its just a matter of lifting out and the vibrations are over for me.
don't get discouraged though if you don't feel vibrations as not everyone experiences this the same way. for example i have never heard any sort of screeching or gunshot loud noises or people talking or screaming at me which lots of people report. i'm sure your experiences will be unique in their own way too.

here's another way to get the feeling of vibrational phase. go get one of those electrical massage mats and crank it up as high as it will go and lay on it. imagine that feeling throughout your whole body. (that's not directed at you Blackfox i caught the sarcasm)

I agree. Just because you don't have any experience with it doesn't mean nobody else does.

I know I'm a little late to the party but just wanted to share my experience for the OP or anyone with the same question.

I experienced the vibrations only once and that was back when I first learned about lucid dreaming and was in that stage of constant excitement. I was so new to LD-ing that I didn't even know anything about vibrations, so I wasn't expecting them or trying to make it happen.

Anyway I was laying in bed in that state of half-sleep and I heard a racket that reminded me of how it sounds when the wind blows and causes that wind sensor tongue to beat so noisily outside the house (sorry if you don't know what Im talking about). As the noise got louder my whole body started to shake with it. First most concentrated in my legs and it moved up towards my head, louder and louder, sounding like a plane was landing or like I was laying atop a jackhammer. As the shaking and noise moved to my head, I put my "hands" up over my ears b/c it felt like they would pop. Gradually everything subsided and when everything was quiet I turned in the other direction under my covers. However, when I woke up, I was in the same weird position I'd fallen asleep in! In other words that whole thing was a dream (WILD), even though I remember it so vividly.

I'm just thankful that I had not opened my eyes when I turned over because it was so real and being that I was just learning about LD-ing, I would not have known I was dreaming and I probably would have freaked out if i had seen something/someone.

I haven't had an experience like that since but "they" say that when you feel the vibrations, you know it and don't have to wonder if that's what it was.
