whats astral projection?

Nowadays people call it Out of Body Experience or OBE.

When you Astrally Project, at first you might think that you are in your Spiritual or Astral Body out in the Real World. Well, this only seems true until one notices that the 'Real World' of Astral Projection is riddled with inconsistencies and subjective details. For instance, once I Astrally Projected when I was 'vacationing' in the Far East. I flew off in the direction of the Town Square near the Railway Station and noticed an inconsistency -- that there was a large bronze statue in the center of the Square. In reality, there is not Statue. Well, investigating the next day, I found out that some 80 years before, there had been a statue -- of a famous General, famous for having humiliated and defeated the Japanese at some past time in their History. But then the Japanese had gotten the upper hand and occupied this particular Country, and took the opportunity to destroy this statue, much as the Americans went about defacing statues in Iraq (somehow being a Conquering Army doesn't have a true satisfaction unless it plays the role of a Vandalizing Barbarian Horde). Anyway, in this small town in the Far East, while Reality no longer had this Statue, the Astral Plane that corresponds closely to Reality still displayed the Statue. Apparently the Japanese did not have the Spiritual or Astral wherewithall to follow up their destructiveness on the Inner Planes.

Then we have the Higher Astral Planes. This is where I believe that Lucid Dreaming and High Visionary Dreams cross over into Astral Projection. When people refer to the Collective Consciousness, in part they are referring to the Higher Astral Planes that have an objective coincidence in all of our experiences.

OBE and AP are highly interchangeable nowadays, but my original understanding was that OBE is 'the real world' and AP is a spirit realm / astral realm.
In my opinion it's one and the same. I suspect you believe it's a matter of higher / lower planes?

RTZ or real time zone is 'the real world' as you put it and closest to physical plane. It seems to act like a buffer zone more than anything though, and a lot of time is usually not spent here in comparison to other planes.

In my own personal opinion, dreaming takes place within a sort of astral realm of your own except its usually your little astral realm inside your head or wherever it is.

That might be the modern distinction, but remember that I am an old man. Back in the seventies there was no such thing as Out of Body Experience, unless that was the way Professor Tart referred to it, but back in those days, Astral Projection was used to specify the entire kit and kabudal. For instance, Oliver Fox's book "Astral Projection" spoke on the observation that I had... uh... plaguarized... now that I think about it... that the Astral Plane where it most corresponds to the Physical Plane contains those inconsistencies and subjective materials. Oliver Fox, even older than I am, probably had never heard of the term Out of Body Experience.

Our astral body tunes into that dimension during dreaming, the problem is we are sorrounded by our dreams. I once projected straight into the above astral dimension. When I projected and walked around my room, my WWE divas poster looked to be slowly melting, as well as my astral hand.

When you die, chances are you'll project straight into the melty-looking astral plane right in your bedroom, then go up to the starry astral planes. It's true.

I have had several experiences with luciddreamingand connecting to a very deep state of consciousness that could be questioned in the same manner. Everyone but me is going to know that answer. Most likely, depending on your experience the one who believes is the one who has experienced an event like this. From the outside looking in you can never understand, You can only question.
I guess what Iam getting at is that regardless of research it seems that the one who does the act will, be the one ostracized do to the fact of lack of understanding on someone else's part.

In my experience I have had four OBE's To me they felt much different than a LD yet I feel that it was just an extension of that realm of consciousness.
Aside from using text for the purpose of communication I will not put a direct label on any kind of these events because it can only lead your brain to preconceive things how it wants to. For it to and keep it in its own order where it likes it.
Through chaos comes understanding.

I have had no experiences myself with remote viewing or astral projection.

Remote viewing and dream sharing. In a controlled atmosphere it would seem these could be proven by factual visual evidence.
But I have heard many times before, Have you ever brought anything back......well I would propose that you could bring back a lot. Just not tangible. But regardless of what category all these fit into, wether they are "real" or not, the fact is, if the one who does comes back with more understanding or awareness in his or her life, then it is real.

I wasn't criticising his belief in astral projection, I was criticising his blatant 'Anyone can do it' factual statement.
How could you possibly know this?

Because if I've done it, it's obviously real and anyone can do it. If I can walk across the street, other people can. If I can astral project, other people can.

Well, that would be like Mozart saying that anybody can play the fiddle, but we know some people are tone deaf.

The Astral Projection and OBE Pages are full of people posting their whining and crying about how they can't do it.

Indeed, I believe it might be in one of the Tibetan Books of the Dead, but some people even find it difficult to separate from the body even after the thing is completely dead... that they are stuck with their body until it eventually reaches an advanced state of decomposition before they can finally pull loose.
