How do you visualize the year, week and seasons?

This question was inspired by the "dream geography" thread.

I always took for granted the way I visualize the year and week cycle in my head. Everyone's imagination works differently, but I'd be curious to know if there are any things people imagine the same.

For example, in my mind's eye I see a year as a circle, with summer at the top, winter at the bottom, spring on the right side and fall on the left. That's just how I've pictured it for as long as I remember.

The circle has certain markers--significant points positioned along the way like holidays or my birthday.

I also noticed that if there's someone I talk to on the phone a lot but never see their face (like a client or contact you have to call at your job all the time) my imagination assigns a face to them.

But the funny thing is, I don't make up a face--I give them the face of someone else who already exists! And usually that's the face of someone I see a lot but don't talk to--like people whose faces you notice a lot because they work or go to school in the same area as you. And the face just sticks with the voice after that.

I don't think people often think about HOW they visualize things. I'd love to hear how others internalize the things and ideas that surround them.

Very interesting post. About the people thing, I do the exact same. I work for a collection agency. I probably talk to about 30 people a day who I'll never see, but I always assign them faces too. Like automatically. And just like you said, it's frequently the face of someone I know or have seen. Hah. I don't do that with the seasons, I just have like scenes from my childhood from each one. I have psychological anchors to winter that make me depressed. I come up with like postcard-like scenes in my mind for each season.

I also do that when chatting online- picture what who I'm talking to looks like. it's sort of an unconscious process. Whenever I talk to someone who seems to have the personality of someone I know, I associate the person I'm talking to with the person I know, so I feel the same way about them. Like I once was talking online to a guy who seemed just like my best friend, so I naturally thought highly of him. Interesting topic.
