Willing to do lab research.

Hi, kinda new to all of this but here goes.

I have, at will, entered other people's dreams and or sleeping minds. I probably will sound like an idiot for not using the right forum "lingo" but what I dismissed has began to surface in my oldest daughter as well.

When I was younger I learned to control my own dreams. That is common here on dreamviews, the important thing is the shared dreaming. It first happened at 17 with my then girlfriend who became my wife of 10 current years. Will not go into detail about the dream as it is irrelevant.

On several occasions I have entered people's dreams and on the most important time I did it on purpose. Here is the experience with non-believing witnesses:

My brother, 16 at the time, was hit headon by a drunk driver and rushed to the trauma center in Memphis, TN. After the first couple of days, the doctors told us of the bleeding on his brain and the coma he was in. The doctors told us the usual about talking to him and spending as much time in-room with him, I watched helplessly as my little brother lay busted up and drooling over himself past the hoses running up his nose and mouth. I would say 2 nights in, I was laying in one of the beds in a double room, the other bed shared by my dad and stepmom with a few assorted family members on the floor to share expenses.

I looked at my wife who was still awake in the darkness and basically told her I was going to wake him up. My wife, a skeptic who to this day refuses to speak about what has happened, looked me in the eyes and said if anyone could do it she believed I could.

I don't remember how much I concentrated on my brother and the situation but sleep eventually found me and the dream was basic. He was sitting in a vast greyness and was mumbling different things, not incoherent, simply like a scientist going over a formula in a whisper. I walked over to him and placed my hand on his shoulder, he looked up at me with an expression I can only express as infantile. All I said was, "wake the hell up, bud."

The next morning I awoke feeling as tho I had ran a marathon and had a screaming headache, I dressed and we went to yet another of the weird visitations and as usual I was trying to push through the locked hall doors into the CritCare Unit, I remember reaching into my pocket to get a debit card receipt to hand to my wife as I rounded the corner into the door into his room and there sat my brother, sitting up and eating some form of blender fruit. He smiled painfully at me and said, " thanks, bro " before the rest of the family piled in and the emotional reunion began.

The reason I am even posting here is if something different is going on, I wish to explore it legitimately, if there is anyone doing the research. If anyone here is interested in my going into more detail let me know, this is not some " I am supernatural " thread. I simply know the facts and are not afraid to see if I may be able to help people in some way. I am willing to share actual information and travel briefly for lab time, but the testing has to be documented and performed by credited members of science.

I see alot of posts about dream sharing, all I know is that it hurts and the only way to describe the aftermath physically is a mixture of a three day drinking binge and a prize fight.

Hey man... I know that shared dreams are real... even if the majority of people here are skeptical.

You did post it in the right forum section though, as this "Beyond Dreaming" section restricts people from posting criticizing, unbelieving posts.

I've actually had two shared dreams myself, even though I didn't wake up with a massive hangover. The first one could be explained as extreme coincidence... but my second would be almost impossible to be coincidence. When you say that you "know the facts," what are you referring to? Is it that you are saying that you know "how" shared dreaming works?

How I explain it(and what is actually the most probable explanation) is simply that you exist outside of your physical body when you are dreaming. You can then meet up with someone else who is outside of their body... which is likely what you did with your brother.

What's funny is that my awesome shared dream happened with my brother. It might be that you can only have them if you have a strong connection to them(your girlfriend, brother).

When I read your post(the part about scientific study), I got the impression that you are extremely willing to have a scientist attempt to explain what you had in purely materialistic terms. A scientist is not going to acknowledge that anything metaphysical happened. The best you'll get from a strict scientist is that it was just an extreme coincidence.


I don't know if I understood you correctly though, so I'd appreciate any type of feedback.

Thanks for sharing the experience, this really helps to motivate me in my search for the possibilites of lucid dreaming. I also believe in dreamsharing, I've had one experience with it myself, but it could have been a very unlikely coincidence, so that one doesn't really count. Anyway, I'm very determined to find out how to share dreams and enter other peoples dreams on purpose. I can't do it, but to me it seems this might be the most important skill anyone could want. Even Carl Jung makes reference to this. He also talks about shared dreams among family. And yes, I could give you a scientific theory how this is possible, but that won't convince people, I need to be able to do it on purpose, and give them first hand experience. I'm not planning on giving up on this anytime soon. I suggest you keep experimenting with it and fill us in on any new experiences. All information on this is very welcome, because it is hard to find any at all.

Anyway, if you can already do it on purpose, you should contact Stephen Laberge, he is the only scientist to my knowledge that does experiments with lucid dreaming and he is also the one who scientificly proved lucid dreaming is real. He has the right equipment to read brains etc. If you wanna show the whole world shared dreaming is possible, he's your best bet.

If you're an idiot for coming here then we're all idiots - so welcome to Idiotopia.

I agree with Surrealist about the unlikelyhood of getting anything worthwhile from the scientific community. The whole realm of dream study/investigation is largely beyond most currently practiced scientific applications simply because scientists can't find out much of anything useful because they have to run their tests while awake. (Also, nobody's going to give them grant money for this stuff.) Furthermore, a huge percent of members of this forum dismiss the idea of shared dreaming. Nobody wants you to mess with their fantasy of reality.......perfect example; your own wife.

I have also experienced, and validated, sharing a dream with someone else, but didn't have the after-effects you had with your brother. (I think there is another explanation for your post-dream pain.) I would like to know if you have had other experiences along the same lines, and if you have any insight into how you achieved them. Clearly the intense emotional urgency of your brother's situation was a huge factor here.

I think that for any of us to explore shared dreaming legitimately we have to find others who are not closed to the idea, and run our own subjective 'experiments'. I for one am not even remotely interested in objective proof - I want to explore the hinterlands of dreaming for myself, and to hell with the white-coats.

PS ChaybaChayba did mention one scientist who has done some maverick dream research and has published some invaluable books as well. But even Laberge backpedalled from his own conclusions to make them more palatable to his peers, and to protect his own cred (and funding streams) in the scientific community.

When you said your brother thanked you, does that mean he remembered you telling him to wake up in his dream? I'd be very interested to hear what he saw in his coma sleep when you showed up in his dreams, compared with what you experienced in your dream. I don't think both parties would necessarily see the exact same thing, but haven't come across enough (any) good accounts to study that aspect of shared dreaming.

The part I find interesting was how you did it. From what I can tell, you were focused single mindedly on getting through to your brother. Of course you had good motivation to do so, but this seems like a good starting point.

Also, why did you wife think you would be able to wake him up? What does she know about you that we don't?

I like the guy who stated "to Hell with the white-coats." I have to remember that, how funny. Just bc they are MDs, and I work with them in research so I should know (not dreaming research but cancer), does not mean they are at all spiritual; usually anything but. It is interesting how you stated that you felt like you had run a marathon. I had an OBE, as I have them very infrequently, and I was extremely exhausted the remainder of the day. Could be bc I started my period and I was hungover, but there was something else to the fatigue and I had thought that it might have been due to the following OBE I had:

I dreamed I was walking, and a rather large black bird flew over my head. Then, I was lying on the sofa (where I actually fell asleep in the first place, kind of like I could see myself sleeping and I was trying to wake up and move my arms, but I could not seem to do it) and another pretty and average size blue bird came through the ceiling. I kept trying to move my arm, but all I saw was this opalescent form of my arm (kind of like my spirit) coming out and then I felt my spirit fly up to the roof. Then I kept trying to come out of my body and break out of the roof but I was never successful. Then I wanted to wake up before my husband left the house, so I kept trying to move my body but couldn't. I felt there was a red bird near and I was a little worried about it being the opposite of what I felt was the intent of the blue bird. Finally my mind shifted into another dream in which my husband and I escaped from a tornado to an underground parking lot with a shopping mall. After, I awoke from the dream, I was glad to feel my arms and legs move. My husband gave me a kiss, and said was going mountain bikeriding. I did not want to interrupt his plans, and he is normally not too into dreams, so I did not tell him about the experience that just occurred.

I can do alot of things on purpose, have been able to for better part of 18 years. From a very young age I had nightmares that made me wake up usually having wet the bed and going into my parent's room shivering, where I would sleep at the foot of their bed for a sense of security. I can honestly say not a night went by this didn't happen. My first skill at controlling a dream came from dream blindness, where when something extremely frightening was going to happen and you lose sight of whats going on around you. It felt as through tree sap was holding my eyes shut and I could still experience the dream using my other senses, but soon developed the idea that if I couldn't see it/them I couldn't be seen.

It all came to a peak when in my dream, I confronted a fearsome creature and basically willed it into a pet, in that same dream I met my grandmother who had recently died. She explained to me that I would eventually be able to do things in dreams and had a good heart to heart and I awoke crying. Slowly different skills became easier, moving with the speed of thought, extreme flight ( going up into space and looking down onto the earth ), moving things with my mind, materializing things, acrobatic movement by simply knowing my hands would land in certain places.

Then the fighting began in my late teens, dreaming of people and things similar to me who fought/moved/had abilities. I was unbeaten, moving and acting like the only predator in a world of prey. That came to a halt when I met an old ( and disturbingly evil )man in a dream, who is a nut-shell, handed me my ass on a platter. After that it was a long time before I had another fight dream.

I soon began to dream of wierd, scifi-fantasy, places where I would walk talking to people explaining dream mechanics to me in detail. On several occasions, I witnessed children doing things in dreams which was similar to the children portrayed as possibles in the Matrix. I remember seeing that and getting chills as I sat in the theatre. Also in this time frame I dreamed of a meeting, I remember sitting in a stone chamber at a long table as people talked and what not. Wasn't long when a woman entered, a woman whom I can honestly say scared the living shit out of me by just looking at me. Her skin was as white as alabaster and her eyes where a glossy black, like looking into eye sockets filled with wet paint. The people with me at the meeting began to scream and run, some standing and disappearing into what I can call as stretching beams of color and light coming out of the ceiling. The woman met my eyes with hers and I felt utter fear, and I suddenly realized what I was seeing the others doing was possibly the act of waking up as moment later I was laying in bed in a cold sweat.

The dream sharing became more and more common as I started with my wife, it simply happened. But the moment it happened we touched while sleeping and it was like being third person seeing us in bed for a moment and being sucked into a dream with her.

On several other occasions I can tell friends that know, that I will meet them in a dream. While I am dreaming it is usually I become completely aware, then I usually place my hands to my head and close my eyes. Then its like hundreds of images of them flood my mind as I scream their name, the scream usually sounds like hunndreds of voices at once, but as I open my eyes I see them. I see them as they are, not exact, but clearly enough to make out details of them as I simply say a few things and will the words into them and I usually wake up a few moments and fall back asleep.

I confront them and tell them what I saw, and what I told em and they confirm they saw me and remember the word/words. As for my brother, what we experienced was exact and he told me he didn't really remember much from it other than me andwaking up in the hospital.

All I know is lucid dreaming, communication and energy are all parts of moving to something higher. Thats why I spoke of testing it cause I feel I might have enough to actually prove it to be other than chance. and might actually be able to help coma victims etc. Sorry its late and have a headache.
