I want to thank everyone that helped to make this website or even manages this form, or answers peoples questions etc. Now, because of what you do I want to share something to all of you which I have discovered, and is also the reason for my lenthy absence from this site. I have discovered "The Secret"

Your first thought might be: "What the hell is The Secret?" or "have I lost my marbles?" for the first question, "The Secret" is being able to have what you want when you want it, (almost like when you lucid dream; you ask for what you want, believe you have it, then it manifests. Its the same conspet here, but in real life). As for the second question, no I have my marbles here in this bag next to my bed:P

Right, down to the serious bit: the actual physics of it. Have you ever thought of something you really wanted? Then, maybe in years, months, weeks, days or even minutes later you got it? Thats because, your actually using the law of attraction. I have two very good sources you can view at the end of this page, one of them is from wiki how explaining how to use "The Secret" and the second is from the actually website, I would advise that you surf it, but please do visit the "living the secret page" it has real success stories from people that have used it. It might be able to give you some additional information or pure inspiration.

Basically, "The secret" works in three very simple steps...

• Ask (be very clear on what you want)
• Believe (Think like you already have it)
• Receive (watch the magic happen)

Believe it or not whenever you think, you send out a wave, (a thought wave) this goes up into space and continues for ever and ever and ever (you get the idea). It is scientifically proven that you can measure a thought wave!Your thought is almost like a magnet; it attracts a like thought towards it, for example: Your walking down the road one day and you spot a very nice looking ipod. Your think to yourself, "I want that ipod." Immidently the law of attraction is working to give you what you want. Even better, if you could begin to visualize yourself holding that stylish ipod and listening to music, you will speed up the process. Also, if you in a postive frame of mind that helps too, because it is very hard to have a good thought while you are angry or upset. A very important thing to remember is to never use negative words when asking for what you want, for example: " I want NO bills in my mail!" The law of attraction doesn't identify any negative words or pharses, so what it recieves is: "I want bills in my mail!" I think you know what will happen next. Other examples of negative words are: stop, none, out, away etc. Important note, how its going to manifest doesn't matter, just know that you will get what you want. When you start wondering how it will manifest that your doubting the law so don't do it. The way you'll know is because, you will get sudden urges to do things, follow these urges it could be the law of attraction working to give you what you want!

To believe that you already have what you want is a perfect way to develop the feelings to how you would actually feel. The law of attraction pays very close attention to feelings as well as thoughts, so to sum it up if you believe that you already have it and feel excited about it, then your stopping delay. Here is an example of what you could say: "I believe that I have my dream car" or "I believe I will have a good day." I mentioned about visualizing in the last paragraph for two reasons: it helps to send a clear picture of what you want and this also, helps to develop those good feelings and believe it is already happening. An importent notice, always speak in the present tense and never the past or furture, your acting like you already have not like its already passed or going to come! Example: "I did have my dream car" or "I am going to have a good day"

Last of all is to receive. To achieve this all you need to do is know that what ever you want is yours and will happen. I'm going to introduce another law called the, law of graditude. This basically means being thanful for what you already have. I use this law instead of using the believing bit because, its more effective for me and I'm speaking like I already have it. So the choice is up to you here. If you want to use it how I do just do this, ask for what you want, example: I want a slim body" then use the law of attraction and graditude together (they work parrell with each other anyway) "I'm so thankful now that I have a slim body." Then I know it will come.


Follow up on being negative; if you are feeling or doom and gloom, then is it extremly important to switch your freqency (feelings). When you are happy, in love, excited or thankful your on the "positive recieving freqencey" however, if your in a bad mood, angry, jealous or depressed then your on the negative recieving freqencey. DANGER, DANGER THIS IS VERY BAD!!! You could ruin your entire day just because, of this. Believe me, I've been there. Little by little things will happen to make you feel worse because, your attracting them. All you need to do is switch frequencies; start smiling for no reason or laughing, go on just do it. You'll notice how much better you feel after a while. What else you could do is listen to music and start dancing or think of a happy thought or do both! Look at the dancing banna he's a good example. :banana:


It is very important to remember not to begin to worry, doubt if want you want doesn't happen at first. The most likely reason is because, your doubting your thought or not backing it up with enough postivie feeling (happiness, excitment etc). Just know that what you asked for WILL come.

PS: "The Secret" website isn't trying to force you to buy anything at all, thats only if you want to know what exactly it is or how exactly to use it. I would recommend buying either the book or the audio tape, because its very informative. Although, on that note the wiki-how guide explains how to use it anyway :D

PSS: For all people that don't believe this I'm going to be harsh and say: You should! Believe it or not you use it 24/7. The law of attraction never stops working, there are not such things as coffee breaks, or short naps for this law -its an on going process...

This theory that mental state is the answer to everything is insulting to people experiencing all types of tragedy. Suffering is not always avoidable, no matter what your perspective is. For example, would you approach a family who just lost someone to a terminal disease and say "Too bad they didn't believe they were going to live, or they would have been fine." Some diseases are just incurable, no matter what your perspective is. I know your trying to be helpful, but this form of optimism is ignorant and unrealistic.

People have cured themselves by believling that they can, you just havn't read any of the stories have you? I'm only a messenger for this amazing power which we all have. However, you could use to prolong but when its your time to go, well your gonna go!

Here is a true story taken from the site.

"My husband attracted health
I bought The Secret CDs in January and loved them. In February, I saw a lump in my husband Peter's thigh. In March, he had an MRI which showed a lipoma with a suspicious center. In April, I gave him my Secret CDs. In early May, he was told he had liposarcoma, the cancer being about the size of a golf ball in the middle. Two weeks later, he was told it was an orange-sized sarcoma inside a large lipoma.

Ok, so you’re walking down the street, as was said in the article. You see an iPod that you want, and you start thinking of how you want it. Naturally, you are more inclined to then receive it. No, this is not because some “law of attraction” brings back to you a “like thought”. This is simply because you are more likely to buy things that you want than things that you don’t want. For example, if you want a set of pots and pans for your kitchen more than you want the iPod, you’re going to spend your money on the pots and pans. You simply don’t work towards getting things that you don’t want. As far as you visualizing yourself listening to it speeding up the process, yes it does, but only because you start to want to spend your money on it more.

In the movie “The Secret”, a man and his wife clip out a picture of their dream house in their dream location. This house is well beyond their monetary means at the time, but it’s so beautiful that they decide to save the picture, and pin it onto one of those little cork message board things for them to look at, and for it to act as a motivator. After a while, something along the lines of the family getting a new message board and putting the old one in a box in the garage, along with the picture of their dream house - which was still pinned to it - happens. Time goes by, and they naturally forget about the picture of their dream house.

Years later, the family is ready to move into a nicer house, and has saved up enough money to do so. They purchase a great house in a great location, sell their house, and move in. As they are unpacking, they come across the magazine clipping on the old message board, and lo and behold, it’s the house they’ve just moved into! This is just amazing, and so obviously it is due to the laws of attraction. Wrong. This family had an idea of the kind of house they wanted, and where they wanted it. If a house is perfect for a family looking to buy one, and they have the money for it, they’re probably going to buy it. Yes, even if they’ve forgotten about the picture. It’s still the same perfect house, in the same perfect location, and it was purely coincidental that it was still for sale. Nothing amazing about that.

Now think of this. You send out a positive thought wave about your want for a bike, or better yet, your already having a bike, expecting this to bring to you said bike. Wouldn’t this thought wave bounce back off of everything, not just that bike? And wouldn’t the thought wave affect everyone’s brain that it came into contact with?
If not, show me some real scientific evidence refuting my refutations, and not this theoretical and untested pseudo science.

Furthermore, this business about negative words such as no, not, and never inhibiting the law of attraction, this is just a way of “showing” why everyone that simply thinks about what they want doesn’t get it. It’s a pseudo scientific failsafe mechanism.

About your state of mind affecting your day, of course it does! If you walk around looking pissed off all day, people are going to treat you differently than if you looked calm and personable. This has nothing to do with bouncy brainwaves, or magnetic thinking. This should be obvious… really.

Here’s the last thing I’m going to say about all this for now. People dying in floods or earthquakes in India or the Far East think everyday about how they would like to live a full life I’m sure. And yet there is no explanation except for what has come to be so typical of believers in things like these, and that is that “Those types of things are different. There’s no way of stopping an earthquake. It’s going to happen no matter what.” Right, so the law of attraction has a double standard. Things that are harder to attain, like a long and full life, cannot be achieved through “The Secret”, and things like iPods or houses that you were already going to buy can be.

These New Age gurus make all their money exploiting people through “The Secret”, not by merely wishing it so. Think about that for a bit.

Well I could – and probably will – go on for a little while longer about this logic defying “gift/miracle”, but for now it’s time to watch some TV and get some shuteye. Happy dreaming all.

Good point beeya. I used terminal illness as an example but their are countless other examples where this logic is proven worthless. Like starvation, can world hunger be solved if we just told all the people without food to believe themselves some food into their belly's?

Another valid point. Not that I am bashing religion by any means, but this is like giving bibles, not loaves of bread. And really, not even bibles. =/

Well I can't and will not change what you both think, I was only here to explain that something like this does exsist. Its just shame that you havn't noticed it yet, but in time you will, and if you don't thats a shame. As for scientific evidence I'm only a kid so I can't prove you with that, you'll have the email the secret team. But, as for the ipod, what if you didn't have the money for it? You could use the law of attraction to lower the cost. But please anybody else don't get fooled into thinking this doesn't exsist because, it does. Having confidence in life is healthy and can get you things you want, but its obvious you've crossed over into arrogance, which can end up biting you in the ass. This is not an insult, I'm just warning you for your own good.

Just look how insane some of the stuff in the tutorial is,

"Say you're playing a game of cards. You just keep losing every round. You attracted losing one round and after you lost you feel bad about it. That "feeling bad" will go out to the Universe and will change the card deck..."

Cards are based off statistics and skills, your emotions are not going to magically change the cards around in the deck, anyone with half a brain can see how irrational this is.

Anyway, firstly whether you believe it, or not, what Phonix is saying is true. Human matter is nothing more but vibrating energy. Eveytime we think, our mind sends out a pulse, or a "wave". These waves do go on to this so called "universe" and yada yada blah blah Phonix mentioned everything.

Card game. Yes, it is based on statistics, but statistics can change. I don't play a lot of card games myself, but i do believe that most people use this so called "luck" (yeah right, who believes in luck?).

Of course there are no such thing as magic, nor luck (not trying to offend anyone here, so forgive me), but would anyone care to explain how some of the worlds great people came to be? If you had to interview these people (or someone that you know of that got something amazing) The one thing that they will say is "I just said to myself that I'll get it..." The moment they mentioned that, they BELIEVED in it. Once they did that, people would carry out certain actions in their lives (without them knowing) which makes them closer to the event of what they desire.

What I'm trying to say is, people CAN NOT be well known if they start off from nothing e.g. Sir Alan Suger (I think thats how you spell his name, anyone?)

Yes it will. Once you asked what you want, you would follow out certain actions that would lead to a certain event, in which you will get what you want. It's innevideable to deny these actions, but humans have a choice whether to accept whats given to them, or not.

Using the "Secret" doesen't make anyone superior. However, if you use it yourself, you WILL have the feeling that you are set free, as if you want to fly (Please don't use the secret to fly, I will not hold any charges against people being injured due to flying failures, but you could Lucid dream it :D).

Please do note, Phonix nor I are forcing anyone to use this "secret" You may ignore it completey, and pretend that it never happened. I will not say that you missing out on anything, nor am I saying that your mad.

I used this "Secret" myself, and it has done wonders for me, however, I do get the sense that no one would care to even read my story, but oh well.

Geez that was a bunch of misinterpreted jargon. Alright kiddy's have fun with your 'secret'. Just wondering though, if several people are playing cards and they all are followers of the 'secret', who wins? If you claim to be able to use this 'secret' then why aren't you using it for something useful, theres lots of problems in the world that need solving. You know theres card game tournaments, if you can guaranteed win them or the lottery, then where are your billions of dollars, you could use the money to help make the world a better place. maybe in time youll start to notice how your inner world of thoughts, feelings desires and fears is connected to your outer reality.
We are all connected and all of the same energy, many people will never reach that level of awareness and will remain trapped into thinking and feeling what they have been taught to think and feel without ever realizing their divine natures like that guy who said magic doesnt exist.

A deck of cards is shuffled before the hand is dealt. There are four aces in the deck. The probability of ane ace being dealt to you is one in four. They tried... really... really... really... hard. Most of them, that is. Most people try to keep a positive attitude about things they are trying to achieve. Most get dissapointed. A couple don't. Those couple are the examples used in "The Secret", not all the others.

Oh, and both Karl Marx and Friedrich Engels lived in extreme poverty before they wrote their manifesto, so yes, someone can be well known that started with nothing.

The law of attraction is very simple but very effective. If you think the law of attraction doesnt work, that only means you do not understand the law of attraction. You can either choose to try and understand, or just choose to ignore this concept (because you are too lazy to try and understand).

If you intrepret the law of attraction in a bullshit way, it will sound like bullshit.
If you intrepret the law of attraction in a correct way, it will sound correct.
Its up to you to try and understand the words and letters, its not up to the letters to try and understand you. If you refuse to try and find truth in text, you wont find truth. If you insist on only finding bullshit, you will only find bullshit. Thats the law of attraction working.

Sometimes people need to be told that their religion is wrong. I mean, I believe in freedom of belief and all, but when it starts interfering with reality, and other peoples lives, then I think it's time to step in. If everyone went on this belief, our world would fall into chaos, because nobody would do anything anymore. We'd all sit on our lazy asses at home "believing" that a big pile of money will be in front of us when we wake up after our afternoon naps. There would be no more doctors because everyone would think they could will their diseases away, and we'd end up with some crazy epidemic wiping out half of the human civilization because we all believed that our thoughts would make us better.

I'm not saying the law of attraction is complete and utter bullshit by any means, in some aspects it's a great thing to live one's life by because it's all about positive thinking, which is a healthy thing, but there are obvious flaws in the theory. If it was true, then we'd have a ton of people ruling the world because they thought it'd be awesome to be in control of the world. Also, as has been mentioned, I just don't see how it would always work, if two people are using "the secret" for the same thing, which one wins out? The one who believes harder? It just doesn't add up perfectly.

I do believe in the more scientific aspect side, the side of it that makes sense. If you're actively believing and looking for something, then you're more likely to come across it of course because you're more aware and open to opportunities that can lead you to your goal.

This topic has been hashed and re-hashed on every board on the net to some degree or another I do believe! LoL

The Secret's supporters always come to the board in an attempt to share new and exciting information and are inevitably met with intense negativity, loathing, disrespect and bad jokes.

Personally, I find it hard to believe that you can have any significant amount of experience in the Astral World and not understand that the physical and non-physical realities are really only separated by the buffer of time and space.

As above so below.

Sadly, The Secret's nay-sayers are never happy simply accepting that somone might believe differently than they do.

It sort of reminds me of how junior high school kids in my church would try to be asshole's to the Clergymen by asking them if God could make a rock so heavy that even he could not lift it.

These kinds of loaded questions run rampant in threads about the Secret and for the life of me, I don't understand why the Secret gets such a bad rap.

I think it goes without saying that you have to do more than simply ASK and BELIEVE.

Without question it takes a certain degree of ACTION and COMMITTMENT to the vision you wish to make manifest.

Can you manifest a beating alien heart in the palm of your hand out of thin air while eating the dark side of the moon like a piece of pound cake?

The better question is why would you want to?

You must have an intense and burning desire or passion for the thing you're visualizing and be willing to not only think about having it, but take whatever steps you can towards having it!

If you want a Ferrarri or Porsche and all you can do is cut out pictures of that specific car, DO THAT!

What can it hurt to be POSITIVE about one day having something you wish to obtain?

I've heard people pose the scenario that The Secret is somehow damaging to terminally ill or very sick patients because they will either refuse medical care altogether or be disappointed when they visualize health and don't receive it.

To that I say give me a friggin' break! LoL

If you're not smart enough to know that you need to seek the help of a physician when you're sick or in pain, you probably can't comprehend the finer points of The Secret or Visualization anyway.

Additionally, your attitude when stricken with a terminal illness has been shown to have significantly beneficial results in terms of your overall health and there have, in fact, been people who were diagnosed with terminal illnesses such as cancer and found to their delight, the cancer was suddenly gone!

Was it because of the Secret?

I think the more important question to pose is whether its beneficial to visualize health and reach for the best feeling you can when you're ill?

Obviously the answer is a resounding yes!

Even with the scenario the producers use in the Secret regarding health they clearly tell you to go see a physician if you are ill, but let the Dr. worry about the sickness, while you worry about just feeling good.

Obviously that's a profoundly stripped down example of what needs to occur, but I believe it to be sound.

One thing for certain is you do not get better by wallowing in misery and failure.

Do I believe the Secret will grant anyone, anything, anytime?

I don't know the original poster and so don't have a vested interest in what he may or may not have meant, but it's my belief that he was posting a brief run-down of the basic tenets associated with the Secret are.

Why he would be pressed upon to post up each and every tenet of the platform is beyond me.

He appeared to be quite excited about it based on the color and vibe of his initial post and wanted to contribute something to the board that he apparently thought would be beneficial.

It's my belief he wanted to share what, to his mind, was a good thing.

All interested parties could then either search the net for addt'l info or actually purchase the book or dvd.

I think its actually a very clever title as it implies that the Secret really is right before your eyes, if only you would look at it in the right way.

Even if they had named it, The Offering, or The Rules or The Hypothesis, how does that in any way change the premise of the book?

We're not trying to force you to believe what we believe. I'm pretty sure most of us would be happy to laugh off "The Secret" and get on with the rest of our lives, but you're basically claiming we're ignorant and stupid for not thinking we can get free plasma TV's by thinking happy thoughts.

What I am denying though, is that thought waves bounce off of things and bring like thoughts back to you in the form of the objects that the thoughts represent. IMO The Secret is just knowing what you truly desire, and knowing possible routes on how achieve what you desire. It's not about just taking action, because if you truly desire something, and know possible the possible routes, you will take action. If you do not, you either:

A - Do not truly desire and feel the need for achieving whatever it is
B - Are on drugs
C - Suffering some form of depression

There's a difference between wanting something, and REALLY wanting something. One is just the norm, and the other inspirational. It becomes a motivational tool.

Sure I would like a 24'' monitor as opposed to the 20'' I'm using right now, but it's not something I REALLY want. So what am I going to do? Nothing. As far as my career goes... I REALLY want to... must... make something of myself. So what am I doing? I think a 4.0 last semester in engineering speaks enough for itself. My semester GPAs go... 2.7-2.9-3.3-3.6-3.9-4.0, it's clear "The Secret" is working for me... at least my interpretation of it.

So...

1) Know what you REALLY want

It might be able to give you some additional information or pure inspiration.

Basically, "The secret" works in three very simple steps...

• Ask (be very clear on what you want)
• Believe (Think like you already have it)
• Receive (watch the magic happen)

Believe it or not whenever you think, you send out a wave, (a thought wave) this goes up into space and continues for ever and ever and ever (you get the idea). It is scientifically proven that you can measure a thought wave!Your thought is almost like a magnet; it attracts a like thought towards it, for example: Your walking down the road one day and you spot a very nice looking ipod. Your think to yourself, "I want that ipod." Immidently the law of attraction is working to give you what you want. Even better, if you could begin to visualize yourself holding that stylish ipod and listening to music, you will speed up the process. Also, if you in a postive frame of mind that helps too, because it is very hard to have a good thought while you are angry or upset. A very important thing to remember is to never use negative words when asking for what you want, for example: " I want NO bills in my mail!" The law of attraction doesn't identify any negative words or pharses, so what it recieves is: "I want bills in my mail!" I think you know what will happen next. Other examples of negative words are: stop, none, out, away etc. Important note, how its going to manifest doesn't matter, just know that you will get what you want. When you start wondering how it will manifest that your doubting the law so don't do it. The way you'll know is because, you will get sudden urges to do things, follow these urges it could be the law of attraction working to give you what you want!

To believe that you already have what you want is a perfect way to develop the feelings to how you would actually feel. The law of attraction pays very close attention to feelings as well as thoughts, so to sum it up if you believe that you already have it and feel excited about it, then your stopping delay. Here is an example of what you could say: "I believe that I have my dream car" or "I believe I will have a good day." I mentioned about visualizing in the last paragraph for two reasons: it helps to send a clear picture of what you want and this also, helps to develop those good feelings and believe it is already happening. An importent notice, always speak in the present tense and never the past or furture, your acting like you already have not like its already passed or going to come! Example: "I did have my dream car" or "I am going to have a good day"

Last of all is to receive. To achieve this all you need to do is know that what ever you want is yours and will happen. I'm going to introduce another law called the, law of graditude. This basically means being thanful for what you already have. I use this law instead of using the believing bit because, its more effective for me and I'm speaking like I already have it. So the choice is up to you here. If you want to use it how I do just do this, ask for what you want, example: I want a slim body" then use the law of attraction and graditude together (they work parrell with each other anyway) "I'm so thankful now that I have a slim body." Then I know it will come.


Follow up on being negative; if you are feeling or doom and gloom, then is it extremly important to switch your freqency (feelings). When you are happy, in love, excited or thankful your on the "positive recieving freqencey" however, if your in a bad mood, angry, jealous or depressed then your on the negative recieving freqencey. DANGER, DANGER THIS IS VERY BAD!!! You could ruin your entire day just because, of this. Believe me, I've been there. Little by little things will happen to make you feel worse because, your attracting them. All you need to do is switch frequencies; start smiling for no reason or laughing, go on just do it. You'll notice how much better you feel after a while. What else you could do is listen to music and start dancing or think of a happy thought or do both! Look at the dancing banna he's a good example. :banana:


It is very important to remember not to begin to worry, doubt if want you want doesn't happen at first. The most likely reason is because, your doubting your thought or not backing it up with enough postivie feeling (happiness, excitment etc). Just know that what you asked for WILL come.

Let's take the field example.

I say to myself, I'm going to stay here. In this spot, and I'm going to test The Secret. I have nothing to eat, and I'm on a big field of nothingness.

I want food.

Now I begin to get urges,
Possibly the Secret setting my path, the temptation to get some food, or because I'm hungry.

And they get stronger, because either the secret is willing me towards food, or the temptation for food becomes greater. Or it could also be because I'm getting even more hungry.

Oh fawk it! I'm going to follow the urges/temptation/IMHUNGRY. So I go to mcdonalds, oh shit I have no money. The secret/temptation/Logic (Logic as in thinking "I can't get McDonalds food, so I'll get it somewhere else") then sets my path to go home and look for food.

In the end, I eat food.
1. the Secret's urges made me eat.
2. I was tempted to eat.
3. I was hungry.

In my humble, tiny little oppinion, these three look terribly alot like each other.

But think about it, if a thief believed in The Secret, wouldn't the Secret just make him steal whatever he wanted?

the secret is about your THOUGHTS, not your actions. its about your MENTAL STATE. your mental state, according to the secret, AFFECTS all aspects of your life. it ATTRACTS certain people to you. it ATTRACTS certain scenarios.

your thoughts attract/create/lead you do scenarios that your actions have no control over. some random person beats the shit out of you for no reason at all - this can happen because of your thoughts. thinking of yourself as a victim creates scenarios where you are a victim.

people who feel they have no control over their lives, because of money, or this or that, are people who feel like victims. according to the secret, this then creates more scenarios outside of their physical activity based on their thoughts. their car suddenly breaks down. they've lost their job for no damn reason. their house was broken into, yadda yadda yadda. these things did not happen because of their ACTIONS, but because of their VICTIMIZING SELF PITY THOUGHTS. Trust me, IVE SEEN IT. Self victimizing people really do suffer more.

I do not have the money to afford living in a house. my friend does not have the money to afford living in a house. but I decided to experiment with the secret. and I imagined for a week, that me and my friend were living in a house. by the end of the week my friend told me, that her parents were willing to buy her a house, and I was invited to come live with her.

the SECRET, is how the universe folds, how it creates that scenario you have put your thoughts on. regardless of whether or not you can achieve it by your own hands. It is NOT about your actions.

it works extremely well for me! Ive been able to nearly get things, outside of my monetary reaches. but I rejected the things the secret brought, even the house. It didn't feel right, for me and my friend to live an house that neither of us pays the bill for. Using the secret has really helped me understand, what is more important to me.

The secret can really help you to learn about yourself. To learn what you really want in life, and many people don't know this. Really, take a few minutes, make a list. What do you desire? For some people, they are so angry at life, they don't even know anymore. I've learned a lot about myself from sitting down, and dreaming. Things I thought I wanted, I really didn't.

there are more things you need to understand about the secret

1. time. human beings are known for believing that things take time, thus, they do.
2. for things to happen fast, you need to imagine these things are happening right NOW. if you imagine them in the future, they remain in the future. the future remains the future, and never happens.
3. you need to be willing. you need to be ready. the secret is the thing that brings about amazing opportunities, but you can walk away from them...you can walk away from all of them.
5. it is about attraction. your thoughts attracting scenarios. about energy. not magic.
4. Its a thousand times more about your MENTAL state than your actions.

If you, lets say for example spend 15 minutes a day and use the secret to dream of money. But then the rest of the day you are worried about bills, and gas. What do you think happens? According to the secret, your over all mental state is a state of LACKING. Therefore, this is what manifests. Those 15 minutes are WASTED. What will continue to manifest is your empty pockets.


The secret brings about scenarios OUTSIDE of your physical activities. from disasters to happiness. It ATTRACTS, things you do not physically control. It ATTRACTS, the THOUGHTS and FEELINGS you hold.

It also ATTRACTS scenarios you DO physically control. So yes, doing is still apart of the secret, if doing is apart of your dream.

Their are many people who try everything to make money and are still poor. They have gone through the physical activity of making money, and still it doesn't work. Remember always, it is the mental state, not the doing that creates the reality in this case. These people did not believe their money making would work. So it did not. Disaster and money sinks were always waiting for them.

The physical activity is only apart of it because it is apart of your dream to achieve things yourself in life. Your doing is not so much why you achieved things in life, as so much as you BELIEVING YOU COULD achieve those things.

Always remember the mental state comes first, and all activity stems from it. This is what the Secret asks you to change.

Then you would understand if you really want to change your life, its not your doing, your actions that you change. But first and foremost, YOUR THOUGHTS. What thoughts and images where you holding in your mind today? Were they angry? Frustrated? Annoyed? What will your tomorrow be like?

the secret carries Buddhist ideas, that you create or at least co-create your own reality. you maybe apart of everyone else's, but you are NOT the master of their reality.

if you want to get religious, even Jesus Christ used the secret. He could not heal anyone, unless they BELIEVED he could heal them. It was their belief that he could heal, that allowed the healing to happen. They healed themselves, by believing with absolute faith, they were healed right at this moment.

if you really want to get even more religious - the Secret does not answer why innocent people suffer since birth.

but if you tie in reincarnation, then it makes a little more sense. Why some are born with disease is because of old karma, an older mental image from a previous life time being projected onto this one. The disease will not go away, until the mental state that created it is uncovered. The secret, the more you get into it, is very buddhist. please understand, I am not saying people deserve to suffer because of something they did in a past life time. No on deserves to suffer. But people do create their own suffering, if they feel victimized. If they feel, hopeless, powerless.

you can save no one through the secret, directly. but you can hold up the mental image for them, that they have learned how to save them self.

I'm actually pretty sure I do understand what you mean.

But since I don't really believe in it, this is a working example of what it could be.

Sometimes, my little brother gets pretty angry because of a game or something, and when he does that, it usually follows by him being hit by something, him accidentaly hitting something with his head, etc.

There it is, when he fails to beat the game, he feels like the victim, and he he goes into that mental state, and thus the Secret attracts the bad happenings after that.

But what I think it is, is this, when he goes into this mental state, he gets fustrated and because he feels bad, he wants to seek out attention, unconsciously, he will exaggerate everything he does to get this attention. Sometimes, one will even want to be hurt just to get the attention. Meaning that he becomes much less careful.
That's not really a good mix.

You can also take belief and use it.
For people who are heavily into Voodoo, and heavily believes it, the voodoo doll WILL work. Because their brain really believes that it will hurt when that guy sticks a needle in it, so when he does, it does hurt.

Belief creates motivation, so if you believe that 'you can do it', then you most likely can.

When you say that you will get money by using the Secret, I believe it is because of motivation and belief in itself.

I'm not at all doubting that the Secret works, what I'm saying is I think the way you are explaining it is wrong. The universe isn't changing when you change your mental state. Your mental state changes you, so you are able to do what that mental state can.

If you didn't explain it in such a religious way, many more people would 'understand' it and be able to use it. This way you are just pushing people farther away from the idea.

Believe you can do it, desire it, then you can.

The Secret isn't different from prayer. the Secret follows prayer. It's a part of life.

We are nothing but mere spirits, attracting things on how we feel. Ask a Quantum Physics scientists on what are Humans made of. They'll say vibrating energy. This doesn't contrdict religion, because religion tells us that if we stay good, we'll get good. This is something that God has given us, a secret to our lives.

I read your post three times (o.O I usually don't) and you just said the same thing that someone else just said.

Your saying that it's Human Insticnt to get what you want. But one thing people keep forgetting is time. If you want a Ipod, as an example, and your flat out broke. You'd only think a narrow way to get that Ipod, which is to work hard and get the money to buy that Ipod.

However, the Secret does thing differently. You justs ask what you want, and you LET the God/Universe do the work. You don't even need to worry about how you'll get it, all you need to know is that you WILL get it.

it seems to me that it's not what you said but the way that you said it that's caused a lot of people to reply in a hostile way. if you'd have explained your theory like a fluffy hippy and had a picture of an angel as your avitar and maybe some fairys as your signature then I expect most people wouldn't have bothered to reply.

as for my worthless opinion, I go to the dump and car boot sales fairly often and I've noticed that if there's an object that i need in my life, it will pretty soon apear. Probably a coincidence. but i think that intent does have a certain amount of power to cause things to happen but it's too easy to extrapolate to extremes. it's like saying "if i straighen my legs from a crouching possition rapidly, i will leave the ground by half a meter -therefore, if i do it realy realy fast, I will go into orbit". basically, it could well be that with enough intent you can cause a passing stranger to give you their car but the intent needed to cause a car to appear in your living room is more than you could manage to do with the energy available to you.

my conclusion is that there's definately something in it, (which is what makes some people luckyer than others) and it's worked for me in the past with some things but not others -could be to do with the reasons behind your desires (if you're just acting on superficial greed, your subconcious might not join in with the intention)- but it definately helps to be using your intent from a position of power: eg, if I'm feeling content, I'm much more likely to get a lift when hitching than if i'm hungry and thirsty.

I'd like to hear some real life examples of this working for people. How has this worked for you?

Its a form of psychokinesis, wich I can do. PK = affecting matter through nonphysical unexplainable means. This falls under PK.

i find it's more a case of affecting intent rather than affecting matter. it's also very hard to prove, it's more like a kind of luck thing that depends on the amount of power you have behind the desire. There also seems to be a power behind it which is separate from your concious -whether it comes from another part of you or a force from outside of you, who knows. For me, if i need something, pretty soon it will come into my life. for instance, I go to the car boot sale every week and have a keen eye for everything on offer. Sometimes I don't really need anything and there's little i find but if i'm on the lookout for something then pretty soon it'll turn up even though I haven't seen that item there for ages (and if i want it a lot then I'll find loads of them).
My car finally bit the dust last year and I wasn't going to bother getting another one but then the situation came that I needed one and out of the blue, my uncle happens by and during a conversation, it turns out they're getting rid of one of there's and i get it for nothing.
it's little things like that which usually have another mind involved somewhere along the line. Of course, I'm always desiring to be rich and that hasn't happened yet but maybe that's because I don't really believe it can happen to me - it's like there's got to be a believeable way or some kind of avenue in which it can work. I could play the lottery but I know the odds and so don't believe the chances of me winning it (also, there's millions of other people intending it to be theres).
to prove it, you'd have to go back in time and see how things would have changed if you hadn't desired for something.

Your using intend to affect matter. This is in some small way affecting physical matter.

Basically saying that, well if you don't believe in it that's fine, but it DOES exist. Because, no, you don't know if it exists or not, you can't be so sure that everything you've experienced with it isn't caused by something else, there's not direct evidence. If a kid knew it did exist I'm pretty sure we wouldn't even have a debate about its existing right now!

I mean I have nothing against people believing in something, but when there's absolutely no direct evidence to the existing of it they should be able to accept that maybe, just maybe, it doesn't exist, just like I say that I might be wrong. Sorry, but this part stood out to me the most. Saying that the "Secret" doesn't exists seems like your saying that Gravity don't exsists. Both are the same, you can't see but if your aware, you'll notice the effects.

Everything in life gets criticism. Scientific-wise, sure I'll admit, to my knowledge, that I know no scientific evidence to tell you. No one has proved The Secret. You can't use The Secret to get the winning lottery numbers. But you can use The Secret to get generalized stuff, like "fortune." But how do you define fortune? If you find a penny, one could call that fortune. In this way, The Secret holds the same mechanics as any superstition. Unfalsifiable. The only benefits you get from it are the ones that you attribte to it (for instance, instead of thinking that the penny you found was coincidence, you could say that The Secret made the person drop it, and you find it). But in the end, whether it's from The Secret or not, the end result is the same.

The only real applications for this 'Secret' is for fiction writing (which, in a world not bound by reality, would work well with the right pen-wielder) and for scam marketing (as you said, you need to pay to know The Secret behind The Secret).

I respect your position wholeheartedly, but disagree.

To me, both LD'ing and OBE's are highly spiritualized in nature. I actually consider them to be two sides of the same coin.

The astral world and the dream world, to me are the same environment, albeit you can be in the astral and not even be aware that your mind is projecting images which you view as a dream in a non-particapatory role.

Even then though, I'm not sure that some part of your multi-dimensional self isn't connecting up with what you are viewing in some, shape, form or fashion.

I began to feel they were spiritual just be analyzing the dream. the conclusion that I got was, I am a consciousness. Any realization that you are consciousness, is spirituality at its purest.

material is thinking you are a body with a working brain. spiritual is, you are not body, but consciousness or spirit in a body

I got this impression from very vivid but non lucid dreams. once in a vivid dream, I threw up! Sick to my stomach, it was HORRIBLE. Very realistic, down to everything. Just..HORRIBLE. At some point I realized I was dreaming and willed myself awake. When I woke up, there was no vomit on my bed and my stomach was fine. The entire experience was 'outside' of my body. I had the same experience with peeing in a dream. My bed was dry!

thats when I began to look at dreams differently

and I began to note that when I feel pain or pleasure in a dream, it WAS NOT my body feeling pain or pleasure - but just my consciousness. when I 'walk' in a dream. its not my body walking. when I talk in a dream. its not my throat making noises. when I hear in a dream, its not my ears working.

I began to see dreams, as an experience outside or without the body. yet, this I can experience anything in this experience.

the next weird thing that I noticed about dreams, was imagination in dreams. now I perceive my dreams as outside of myself, a 'landscape' I walk around in. yet at the same time, I believe this landscape is created by my mind, right?

well one time in a dream, I closed my eyes and imagined. what I was imagining, I did not perceive around me - but in my head some where. as you would right now if you imagined something. My imagination was, IN THE BACK OF MY MIND. I opened my eyes again in the dream, and looked at the landscape around me. Nothing changed since I closed my eyes. I closed my eyes again and imagined something in the back of my mind, and again I opened them still seeing the same unchanged landscape

I was trying to change the dreamscape by imagining a new one, just so you know. but my 'imagination' in the back of my mind, had no affect on the dream world that I perceived 'around' me.

and I finally asked myself "if the dream is created by my own mind, where is the dream really taking place? how does something in my mind exist outside of my consciousness? since I, the consciousness, can walk in the dreamscape, it is outside of my perceived consciousness. How is this possible if the dream is only in my mind? Why can I imagine something in the back of my conscious mind, and it has no affect on the outer dreamscape?"

its very very very weird, when you really experience this in a dream conscious. it made me question, if a dream was really just limited to my head.

materialism has yet to give me an answer. the spiritual beliefs of the astral realm gave me a better answer. while the dream is created by your mind - it is not taking place in your mind. and this gives me a better understanding of how I can have an imagination IN MY MIND, while the dream was 'around' me.

Thats retarted. He SHOULDNT believe. If he went around believing everything, it would be called being gullible. What you should do is provide evidence of its existance other than "look around". I personally believe in such things, but only because I have seen it with my own eyes and can reproduce it at will.(The movement of objects, etc) But some people arent so fortunite. You need to provide evidence. As long as they stay open minded and thier WILLING to believe, its fine by me. But they shouldnt believe without a reason to.

I actually listed several reasons why I believe lucid dreams are spiritually based in my response to you.

I'm not sure I follow your response in terms of reasons to believe, but then again, it was not my intention to debate you on why you should believe as I do.

Perhaps you only wanted to make the statement that you did not believe dreams were spiritual in nature.

I believe dreams both lucid and non-lucid have, at their core a spiritual essence and was only attempting to clarify why I think this is so.

I have my own experiences which I base my beliefs on and generally find that if something resonates with my own inner spirit or being then that's good enough for me.

Again though, if lucid dreams are simply the mind's attempt to amuse itself while we sleep, that amounts to not much more than a parlor trick to me.

I'd rather let it amuse itself on autopilot without involving me were that the case.

To my mind, dreams mean SOMETHING though and are not simply projections of a bored mind as it waits for us to become conscious again.

I think the bulk of material you'll find on the subject actually supports my position that dreams are much more than just random images which ultimately mean nothing.

Still, if you believe they mean nothing, by all means proceed in that general direction.

Interesting point, but whos to say that you can't use this to win the lottery? Those who fail at winning had doubts about themselves. I do like how you talked about fortune, but fortune is something we make (at least thats what I think).

Phoenix: That website didnt prove anything. That website gives stories, and it tries to sell a product to you saying they can teach you how to use it. I'm not saying they cant, but its not proof of anything. You should show some scientific studies or something, that proove its existance. Sorry about the kid thing, didn't mean to offend at all. But there it is again, you're saying that The Law of actraction does exist, you just gotta look around. But no ^^ That doesn't prove anything at all. Again, there's no direct evidence that points to the Law of attraction, just a simple fact. While the secret was good for introducing the idea, it really didn't explain why or how this effect works. Actually they repeat themselves over and over without providing any new information. A full movie seems like overkill considering how little actual information they provide.

I think I've discovered the basic mechanism or laws as to why and how this works through dreaming. I've been trying to expand on how to apply it both in dreams and in RL in this thread.

sorry, i am responding to something on the first page. this is actually my first post, instigated by those who hate the secret.
there are many people like you who could not accept the secret lightly-like myself. but being open minded, i tested the philosophies of the secret, infact dared them to act, and they did. if you look at the tutorials on this website, even the author states at a point- believe that you will ld, and fell happy as though you have achieved it. this could have been a means of convincing the subconscious of its abilities, in which case the secret was atleast helpful in mastering self. be open minded, and atleast test the secret as it requests. you may not gain "magical powers", but you will surely learn something.

As far as all the scientific proof goes, it should be noted that science is founded on guesswork and theories. Maths is rife with "fugefactors" to make the equations work and it's all just to try and make sense of a universe that doesn't make sense.
That doesn't mean, of course, that anything's possible; it just means that when it comes down to it, no one really knows what's going on and anyone who's convinced their idea is 100% right is most probably not taking everything into account.
Personally, if you can suspend judgement completely, you should be able to test out this stuff yourself and see if there's anything in it.

Of course Lucid dreams are spiritual. Of course dreams are spiritual. Taking a shit is spiritual, if you ask me.

Spirituality is about a sense of consciousness, as you say Juroara. It is the sense of being fully conscious in the here and now because this moment right now is special, sacred and worthy of attention.

I've seen some things. Not much. A woman possessed, the occassional aura, visions and weird sensations in ritual or attempts to astrally project. But these things are window dressing on what I think really matters, which is pointed to by lovely big words like sacredness, worship, honesty, consciousness, etc but is really the simplest, smallest, most essential thing that we have.

But yeah, thats my opinion. It does apply to this law of attraction thing though. If '"The Secret" is being able to have what you want when you want it.' Then I'm not sure its worth aiming for. I know very competent magicians who's rituals tdo seem to affect reality. I also know very content people who want for nothing. I know which group I want to be like.

I guess my point is that I don't want to waste my time wishing anymore. I'm happy to work to produce a happy world for myself, but I also want to rid myself of attachments to it.

Wow, I read from the start of this thread for about 3 pages before I got bored at reading the same arguements tossed back and forth like whoever insists their version is better the most will win.:lol:

Phew....I don't even know if I want to comment on this, lest I get pulled into the tug of war as well! Alas, my curiosity is piqued and I feel I must divlulge my own insignificant opinion on the matter.

I am a scientist at heart, but as such I tend to keep an open mind (like all good scientists should). I've seen statements used (I can't be bothered sifting through all the posts and quoting) about how these are "narrow-minded views for a community who believe in lucid dreaming", to that I say, from my perspective anyway, that it seems perfectly reasonable to be skeptical, sub-conscious lucidity has nothing to do with it; simply because lucid dreaming has been scientfically proven, studies have been taken and it is an undeniable fact. I can't say the same for those believing in dream guides, shared dreams, astral projection and the like, but we can all agree that lucid dreaming is pretty unrefutable.

I'm afraid I'm going to have to side with the non-believers on this one. I concede the points that positive thinking may, at some level, inspire you to do certain things to achieve your goals, that mankind as a species is naturally inclined to work towards that which we desire most. As others have said, positive thinking is a good and healthy thing to do.

However as far as "mind waves" bouncing around the universe...until you can measure this mind-wave in some way, I'm going to remain a skeptic. Yet in the spirit of keeping an open mind, I shall maintain my stance of *wanting* to believe in the spirituality of "The Secret".

It could all be true, but I think true elightenment will only come with time. Perhaps at our current state of evolution the majority of the human race is simply incapable of percieving it?

What sort of studies have been done on this "The Secret" to prove its veridity? Naturally, people who want something will be more apt to receive it than those that don't, so how do those studies, if they exist, take that fact into account and factor it out?

Years ago, i saw this thing on TV about two groups of monkeys. some lived on the land and some lived on an island nearby (or something like that - don't remember exactly). anyway, one monkey on one side of the river discovered a way to improve his dinner by washing it in the salty water. As time went by, the others copied and started doing the same thing. And apparently, when the number of monkeys doing it on one side hit a critical amount (100 or something) then the monkeys on the other side of the water started to do it. I'm not too sure if it was a load of crap or if it's a recognised phenomena but I also remember on "tomorrows World" (for those old enough to know that series) they did an experiment involving recognising a shape amongst a bunch of dots to try and prove the same thing; that there's a shared subconciousness of some sorts. Don't know what the results were so it's a bit useless me writing this but maybe someone else knows more about those experiments. but if it's true, it would go to show that you can affect your life with intent by affecting other people.

That being said, I now thank you Phonix for approaching this topic. The Secret, it seems, was a Pandora's box, but it is a good topic as it opened (or should have opened) discussion on the principles of The Secret and why they do or don't work.

The Secret does not tell you to stick you head in the sand and dream a perfect life and it magically appears. Although the movie seems to portray it this way, there is much more to it than the movie revealed.

This movie resonated with me because it restated certain "truths" most of us grew up with: ask, believe, receive. This comes right out of the New Testament. What stands in the way for most people is the believing part. It's hard to believe that you'll receive checks in the mail by just thinking them so, especially when you don't have enough to cover the rent or whatever. Fear of doom is far greater than the simplicity of ask, believe, receive. And yet, in its simplicity there is great power.

Let me give you an example of why I know this "Law of Attraction" works. Many years ago I was employed by Olan Mills and other studios as a photographer. I was 19, a young woman - fearless and unafraid, who travelled all over taking family portraits. People would often tell me they would be afraid to travel alone to all those places by themselves, that something bad would happen to them, but I gave it no thought. I worked, traveling in this profession for over 7 years. Traveling, alone from Alabama to Vermont during those years. I stopped counting flat tires (and empty gas tanks) after 16. Every time I had car trouble, I was either right in front of a gas station, or someone stopped immediately and helped me change my tire I never lost any time and was always merrily on my way. I was always focused on being on time to my next location. Though these are situations I didn't think of, I never focused on or feared them. I think trouble finds people who are always focused on trouble. People who fear the worse usually find it. That is also the "Law of Attraction".

This leads me to something a friend of mine told me a few month ago. She is a psycho-therapist. She said that fear is the belief that the Universe (Creative Source, God, Infinite Intelligence, etc. - your choice) will not provide all your needs (wants or desires). This made a lot of sense to me. Fear is a very powerful feeling (thought), that will in fact keep a person from believing. The Law of Attraction works in a positive way when you are free from fear. If you cannot believe fearlessly - without doubt, it simply won't work.

I came across a book recently by Dr. Joseph Murphy called the Power of Your Subconscious Mind on scribd.com (free download), that is almost a certified "how to" book on making The Secret work. The book can be purchased at Amazon, but you can download a copy of his original work at scribd. If you decide to download it, get the version with the actual book cover, not the edited versions.

In the book, he also details how people such as Thomas Edison and Albert Einstein used the power of their subconscious mind to invent and find solutions to problems that have indeed changed the world.

I think what disturbs most people about The Secret is that it fails to clearly explain that it is often through taking action on the ideas we receive is what brings about the reality of our dreams. Positivite energy has a much greater effect than negativity on making our dreams come true.

Case in point, the use of visualization in sports. Athletes are now trained to visualize themselves playing their sport, to see the outcome in advance. If there were no validity in focusing this positive energy by replaying in their minds the future outcome of a sporting event, why is it so heavily promoted. Seeing themselves win- and believing it, apparently, can make it so. Google it.

Anyway, just wanted to put in my two cents, especially since it seems so many people were so mean.

Who said anything about mind waves bouncing around? That's just a theory. The law of attraction works on all planes of reality, not just the mental plane. On all the other planes you can witness with your own eyes the law of attraction working. And even on the mental plane, just try it out! It wont kill you.. lol. Well guess what, you don't need to believe the law of attraction, you don't need to proof the law of attraction, if you just try it out, it will work.. as simple as that.

Family members dying is a tragedy. But this way of thinking brings light upon the matter, not spits on the face of those with tragedy. It's the other way around. People will lose loved ones. That's a fact. But what I believe is that they are in a better place and no longer feeling pain. This helps you get passed the hate stages after someone dies and come to peace but never forget them.

The secret isn't about tricking yourself to see life a better way, you really do see life in a positive way for what it really is and good things will come. I think that's the way our creator meant it to be.

I hadn't read the sticky about not insulting others beliefs before I posted here, so sorry for whatever I said. I think I understand the cause of the conflict though. So many people have had such different interpretations of the secret, on top of that they explain their own version to others so thats its like the game telephone, now its hard to find two people who can give a similar description. Some interpretations I like, others I don't. I've actually always understood the main concept and it makes sense, but why label it 'the secret' other than to exploit and sell it, the concept is clearly ancient, its been around long before someone called it the secret and wrote a book about it. It seems like labeling it the secret has been nothing but trouble.

I have read most of the book "The Secret" - not overly impressed; laughed at some of it, but was bored with most of it, there was a couple of small OK bits. I don't have a problem with the Law of Attraction, which is what this book is about - but the way it goes around it is far too simplistic & Egoistic. Life is not about working out that everything is some vast supermarket or shopping mall; with everything for the taking, by just thinking about it; that's silly.

There are other Laws - namely the Law of Allowance & the Law of Balance. Consider also that we come to this World to learn & grow - not to have every desire appeased on a whim. I dislike intensely the notion that material wealth, & the pursuit of a surface happiness, while avoiding any kind of experience subjectively seen as "negative", is somehow spiritual - it isn't! Quite the opposite in fact. From the perspective of Spirit or the Higher Self - then who is to say beyond subjective value judgements, what is good/bad, positive/negative, right & wrong. Who is to say that the starving abused child is not undergoing a profound learning experience from a "higher" perspective. This is not to say that certain "behaviours" should be encouraged or tolerated, quite the opposite. However, is it not worse to say that suffering is meaningless?

There is also the point, which has already been raised as to what happens when people practising "the secret" correctly, want opposing things. If I fully expect, & create a rainy day, while a neighbour also fully creates a sunny day - then what happens, a compromise perhaps? This problem is a vast & complex one in relation to the method of the book. One which is not addressed anywhere in it.

I actually find something quite disturbed about "the secret" - it blames people for & devalues them of their own personal experience; whatever that may be - & it is, lets not forget, a money making & marketing ploy, which has earnt some people fortunes; playing directly to a Capitalistic, egotistical, selfish & materialistic society. This "book" is best off in the bin.

There is no such thing as a "thought wave."

When I watched the official release of ''The Secret'' (the movie) they were also saying instead of wishful thinking "I want" you should think as if you already had it "I have".

Using this logic has failed me, and I had not gained anything.
Why? Because I did not follow the ''real'' rules of the secret.

In the movie they say "When you get the chances you need to grab them".
Now what kind of bullshit is the law of attraction then? If it only gives you CHANCES.

I'd rather believe: Believing that thinking about having / wanting something will make you more aware of situations, making you think that they are because of this train of thought, and then making you act upon them if you are confident enough.

If you did not believe in that, the chances will still be there but you might not view them as chances.

And luck is not really luck, It's more a combination of factors that noone really pays attention to, that you managed to use time over time again to get good statistics.

And what if there is one girl, and 2 people want her, only those 2, noone else. And she doesn't know those 2, and is not interested in anyone else.

What will happen? A battle of mental forces of whom can "will" the most? rofl.

I have been watching this thread, but i havent really been happy. What everyone who believs in "the secret" or better, "law of attraction", say, is that all you have to do is believe in it and it will happen.

Well, i have done some reading. The whole "believe and it will come" is not really the case. For one, i believe that you have to be one of a select few who can do this. Next, i think it takes a high meditation like state to perform it. And lastly, i think that only things that you do recieve have to come in a opportune moment, such as, you get the chance, like omega said.

So basically, if you want some girl to like you, you get into this state, and you are one with this power. Next, you do the whole thing to get the chance to have the girl like you. So basically, the girl will pay more attention to you, and like the things you do. If you mess up something, and she gets turned away, you lost your chance.

If you want a new toy, and you do this, you get the chance to go to walmart and get it. Whether its a car accident before hand that prevents you from going, or maybe when you get to the store you find a different toy that is better, you had the chance, you just didnt get it.

So thats my words on it. Do i believe in it? Yes. Do i think its possible for everyone to do? No.

You can will it to come but you still have to put effort to get something done.

Simple. Nothing is easy.

I have read the Secret, it's not half bad. But...

If it is true, you will get whatever you wish for, and the Universe will provide it. But no one says how the Universe will provide it. Can you see where I'm going with this?

If anyone has ever read The Monkey's Paw, they'll get what I mean. It's about this paw that grants each person one wish, at any cost. The particular couple wishes for money...and they inheret it from their son who died in an accident.

That /\ is my point, they got their wish, regardless of how the Universe provided it to them. Once again that proves it, be careful what you wish for.

Actually Hitlers father was apparently Jewish and he used to beat him, at least that's what I've read.

Actually the author of ‘The Secret”,” Rhonda Byrne, explained that when great tragedies happen (Like a tsunami) there was an equal amount of negative thoughts to cause the mass death. It is useful. It's self-help for just plain dumb people. The rules explain it.

1) Think positively
2) Keep what you want in the back of your head (You focus on it for a few minutes a day)

The LOA is an amazing concept. After I watched The Secret...I was floored, riveted and everything in between. As I've grown, I've learned that that movie is useful to an extent, but nevertheless deeply flawed. Flawed in the sense that it encourages people to treat "the universe" like a toy store or a genie. Ask, Answer and Receive aren't the only steps. There are a few critical components that make up the success formula. Some of which are Intelligent Action (which the movie didn't talk about at all), making a plan, visualization (which was covered), programming/reprogramming (which wasn't covered) etc. All in all, I'm really glad you enjoyed the movie :). It's an amazing video I believe will serve as a tool for those adamantly interested in "knowing" what's out there. The Secret isn't the end all formula. It's only the beginning.

1. Spoiler for The steps:

   1. Relax your mind. Meditate for 5 to 10 minutes. Doing this will increase brain power and have your mind at that relaxed state. This step is optional but recommended.
   2. Be sure about what you want. Remember that you're sending a request to the Universe which is created by thoughts, and therefore responds to thoughts. Know exactly what it is that you want. If you're not clear/sure, the Universe will get an unclear frequency and will send you unwanted results. So be sure it is something you have strong enthusiasm for.
   3. Ask the Universe for it. Make your request. You don't have to actually speak or use words because it doesn't hear words. Send a picture of what you want to the Universe. The Universe will answer. See this thing as already yours. If you have won the lottery, you know the money is yours before you even acquire it, or at least should. The same should apply here too.
   4. Write your wish down. Start with "I am so happy and grateful now that..." and finish the sentence (or paragraph) telling the Universe what it is that you want. Write it in the present tense as if you have it right now. Avoid negation terms (see Warnings for more on this).
   5. Visualize it. Every day until your wish comes true close your eyes and imagine your desire as if it's happening right now. Also see yourself playing with it and feeling it and get the experience of having it. If you're wanting that Nintendo Wii, see yourself sitting down playing a game on it. See yourself feeling the controller, playing your favorite game(s), touching the console. If there's that person you have a crush on, see yourself walking with her/him, touching or caressing the person, or even kissing the person. You get the idea.
   6. Feel it. Feel the way you will now after receiving your wish. You must act, speak, and think as if you are receiving it now. This is actually the most important, powerful step in using the Attraction's Law because this is where it starts working.
   7. Believe in the unseen. Think about this alternate dimension that is almost exactly like the real world but whatever you truly desire comes true in an instant. See yourself in that dimension, where whatever you ask the Universe for comes to you in an instant. When you do the Universe also turn those thoughts and feelings into realty. Reviewing step 6: When you act, think, and speak like it's happening or you have it right now, the Universe will shift all the people, events, and circumstances so your request prospers. Keep in mind that your thoughts must contain only thoughts and feelings that you have it. If your thoughts contain you not having it, then that's why you don't yet have it.
   8. Show gratitude. On the reverse side (or a new one if you used up the back) of the paper, write down everything you're thankful for. It also helps to put down all the things the Universe has given you. It helps to be thankful for what you already have and be thankful for all the things the Universe has given you. The Universe has done a lot of things for us. Paying the Universe back with some gratitude will motivate the Universe to do even more things and will draw more things into your life. If you were once bullied and that person stopped, that's one thing to be thankful for. If the person you're crushing on likes you back, or doesn't but she/he didn't send their lover out to hurt you, that's another thing to thank the Universe for. You should also thank the Universe for this process too. Showing gratitude will turbo boost the Universe to manifest your request faster.
   9. See your request going to the Universe. Close your eyes and see your request going out after clearing your mind, decided what you wanted, written down what you wanted, experienced the thing or person, and wrote down what you were thankful for. Go on about your life. You still should feel, and think about it but have a positive attitude.
   10. Keep your faith. Send out your good feelings. Have unwavering faith. The more faith you have the faster your wish will come.
   11. Have positive thoughts and feelings. We all can't be happy all the time and this is fine. But at least think good thoughts or recall the last good thing that happened with you. Just listen to some music or do something you enjoy.
   12. Relax and Allow!!!. This is where people tend to mess-up. It's because she wants the thing so bad she looks around for situations that "pertain" to manifesting her desire. Don't. Just put out a clear request, visualize it, and let the Universe do it's work. If you have to keep an eye out for an event that manifests your wish, it's only telling the Universe you don't have it and you will attract... not having it. This is one of the most important steps in this process.
   13. Be patient. Don't get upset if these things don't happen immediately. In all actuallity it takes the Universe less then a second to create $1,000,000 as it takes $1. See the things you want as already yours. The universe is always answering our every commands. Don't stress the "how" of things. Let the Universe do it for you. If you given that Nintendo Wii you've always wanted, you wouldn't care who got it, where it came from, or how it got to you. You would care only about the fact you have it. When you take the Universe's job of worrying about the "how", this says you're lacking faith and that you're telling the Universe what to do when the Universe has far greater knowledge and power than human mankind.

WOW this is amazing.....now lets just use the handy dandy Occam's razor to get rid of all this magic and superstitions crap and lets see what we get.

Lets see Number one
Step 1 meditating is great for relaxation but why waste time meditating when you can do go sart working for what you want or go out for a jog if you dont want to be bored...ok slice that out with the handy dandy Occam's razor.

Step 2...knowing what you want is important you always want to be careful about this.

Step 3.... Ask the universe? what kind of stuff is this. Slice it out I say!

Step 4...Why would I write want down I already know what I want lets get rid of that.

Step 5...This step is nice not just to this extent.

Step 6... Feel the way you will now after receiving your wish. You must act,
wait a sec I thought we didnt have to act we jsut thought oh well lets get rid of this feeling and keep this actually acting on what you want. with my favorite razor.

ok, so this secret may be true to an extent and different degrees, but at the same time, why do we alway WANT things, isnt the real key to freedom not wanting things, letting go of all desires, even if you can manifest everything you want, arent you missing the point, the more you get, the more youl want, i believe also from experience that this is true to degrees, but for me takes too much mental energy, maybe im lazy, but i'd rather sit and watch a lake all day and find some peace of mind than try to manifest things all day, also it can bread fear into others, thinking they are missings out on something huge, but they are perfect how they are, and as far as love goes, i dont think it is a thing to manifest into your life, unconditional love is at the base of everything, even before this manifesting thing existed, imagine if all life/humans just relaxed and helped each other, in a simple way, no competition, no need for it, just sat and watched the moment, attaining things is all in vain in my point of view, because all is temporary and will pass eventually, im not saying dont enjoy and desire things, this cant be helped in our world now, but something about this secret thing just seems to agitate me, maybe its just me dont know, but i believe in truth, behind everything, we are everything, so why do we want everything, hmm, and this truth can only be seen when we stop wanting, i think it would be what the buddha was. anyway, this may have just been an energy release for me but if it makes sense thats cool!

This dosent work coz no matter how much I trick myself into thinking I have a iPhone I still dont have one... Where the hell is my iPhone? The universe sure is taking its time manifesting this one... :roll:

I actually don't even think there's anything wrong with writing that you don't agree with the Secret, but the level of animosity and juvenile replies exhibited in this particular thread went way over the top in my opinion.

Had I not believed in the Secret and found this thread, I, most likely, wouldn't have even bothered to post a comment at all because I'd rather focus my energy on learning more about things I do believe in.

What I noticed is that there were a lot of negative, mean-spirited, juvenile people who came into this thread for no other reason than to argue, not because they were seeking to understand.

As I've written many times in this thread, I believe the poster who made the thread had the purest of intentions and only wanted to share something he believed and was excited about, yet he was met at every turn by someone who figuaratively slapped him the face with negative comment after comment.

I reiterate, on a discussion board dedicated to the phenomena of perceiving other astral dimensions and the spirit/soul/mind actually leaving the physical body, I found it ludicrous that, of all things, the premise of the Secret would receive such a negative welcoming.

Takes all kinds I suppose.

I still believe in the Secret, but don't wish to argue with people about it either.

I'm just in awe that more worthy discussion topics have died long ago, yet this particular thread is not only still around, but still the target of silly wise cracks and random outbursts of negativity.

I'm a member of several discussion boards online and you can usually tell a lot about the type of people who post based on the topics and comments that keep getting bumped the most.

Perhaps I just over-estimated the maturity of this particular board.

I agree however it is important to get other view points and even consider them within your own mind. It is not good to ignore other peoples experinces and ideas.

These are an anonymous board where anyone can post anything they want without real world repercussions. Juvenile behavior and general assholery is to be expected anywhere on the interent escpecially message boards. However there seemed to be many good retorts and responses in argument against the "secret".

The OP was selling his idea. We all do this if when we want to change someones lifestyle or even selling an exercise plan. The title said "Considerd this a gift to you lots" that just seems a little condecending if not out right arrogant. Not a very good first impression thats for sure. Of course some are going to be a little insulted from his posts. If your going to try to sell us on this "secret" dont state it like oooooh look I have a secret and ill let all you riff raff in on it look heres some info and heres the book you can buy. But I digress. Trying to sell something and change someones entire outlook on life is going to be questioned and scrutinized if your trying to sell me a faulty product then it is important no duty to warn people of the dangers of such a change.

This board is a little more skeptical than even I would assume. I did not know how old this thread was when I first posted however it just seems that your ignoring the good arguments that have come from this disscussion. It could just be my point of view though.

I don't believe that the law of attraction is something real that causes the universe and destiny or whatever you think it is to cause good things to happen to you. That's just a bunch of bull. But I believe that the power of positive thinking and affirmations is huge. If you say things enough like "someday I'm going to do this." then the universe isn't going to 'rearrange' itself to help you out in it. Your subconcious will just find a way of making you make the right decisions to be in the right place at the right time to be able to do whatever it is that you wanted to do. It's not a scientific law. It's all you. But that's fine. It doesn't matter what it is. As long as you stay positive and do all the things that the "law" tells you to do, then things will work out either way.

Anyway, I apologize for my past actions and if I annoyed anyone. I'm just gonin to be more diplomatic. Ok the LOA helps some people but not others, because it'sseen as NOT GOING TO WORK through LACK OF BELIEF. Yes, you DO have to ACT upon your DESIRES that very important, sorry if I missed that out.

However, I'm very happy to see that I have helped some people. I don't want to start agruments on this forum be between anyone. If you don't believe in it thats ok, if you have your own veiws on it that's ok, if you believe in it thats ok.

In other words, lets just leave this once and for all, people all have there own views on this world and as much as I hate to admit it: No one will know the truth untill the day they die...

So untill that day comes, lets just be friends and just settle for watever anyone believes. Thats the first step to making the world a better place...
