Truth is, the two things are completely unrelated.
Dismissing them as a whole, is no different from dismissing the philosophy of any one religion as a whole.
I personally think Christianity is BS, but I do accept that there are some intelligent, decent Christians, who have managed to make the most out of a flawed belief system. There are also terrbile Christians who use the religion as an excuse to do all sorts of evil.
It's the philosophy itself that is the problem, not the people who fall under it's umbrella.

Yes I googled them, and yes I discovered the 2002 TV show that you are talking about (which, to put you right, is why i said it sounded like a dodgey 80s film. As the premise from the show is similar to FlatLiners)

Most of what the internet has to throw up on the subject of the DreamHackers is lots of regurgitations of the same post made here.
It's almost as if they are trying to promote themselves, with the same advert again and again throughout the various dream forums online.

I'm amazed by how you and Oniero make such assumptions, and are so keen to be blatantly offensive to people you know nothing about.

Lets remember here that it was Oniero that jumped into this thread to be abusive in the first place.

personally I didn't like sending it like this. I wanted to do the same as the person who posted it on LD4all and send it in installments. Sending a load of information in one go can be off putting. However, when I asked you how to send it you said:

'I'd prefer one long post of information.'

I'm guessing you lost the password to the original account you started this thread with (DreamStar)?

I changed my mind about my username and couldn't work out how to change it other than a new membership. Could a dream guide or someone please advise me about this? Do I need to get rid of previous membership now and keep this one, or change old one?

You're pretty close, since anyone who wants to understand and research dreams in order to refine a greater control over them, and bring greater awareness into them (high level lucidity - with high awareness and control over dreaming environment = what Dreamhackers call 'controlled dreaming') can call themselves a dreamhacker.

The Dreamhackers first established themselves in the early 1990s, way before that film came out. It could be the tv series creators got the name from reading about the Russian Dreamhackers online.

Anyone who properly reads Castaneda's books will see that the authenticity of the teachings is the primary purpose of the book. Whilst it might be nice to think that events happened as depicted in the books, the teachings themselves are solid gold in truth and that is all that matters. For instance, just focusing on the one teaching about self importance will have an immense impact on one's ability to dream (memory and awareness/lucidity levels)

It is true that all this information available on the internet can be pretty heavy going to take in especially as the English is far from immaculate. I posted this information because currently this is all us English speakers have to go on. However, there is a book on its way that will explain all this clearly and much more information too.

I've seen this information on Castaneda related forums and dreaming forums. It's been doing the rounds on forums for years. Various people are interested in the Dreamhackers because of what they achieved with their techniques (explosion of dream memory).

Why would you see them as advertising themselves, when english speaking people went to their sites and took the information using an auto translator?

That is because people just like starting drama. Castaneda a Brujo or butthole does indeed have many excellent things in his books that can be adapted to almost any paradigm.

Wow those dreamhackers sure look to be on the road to success with their genuis sounding ideas. I'm tempted to research them further and see if I can get involved with their project...

Actually, for those interested, there is some new research (led by the current leader of Dreamhackers - Ravenna) starting right now. A 'small demo' was given to start things off that you might find interesting to try:

'Please try this small meditation. This demo is not my invention and is used in many different psychotrainings. It is possible that you have already come across it. So, find a calm place, and adopt a comfortable position either sitting or lying down. Close your eyes and try to remember the contents of your personal library or book collection. Recall the books that you like most of all. Recollect the approximate period of your life when
you were reading each one of those books. What life events were linked with these books? As you proceed with this exercise imagine that you
are throwing each recapitulated book into the fire. Recapitulate the first 8-10 of your most beloved books very meticulously. Say farewell to them and throw them into the imaginary fire. If your personal library is too big then begin to throw armfuls of books into the fire. Keep aware of your feelings, emotions and thoughts. Some people find this meditation to be very brutal. Anyway, I ask you to accomplish it and briefly describe your feelings and thoughts. I especially emphasize that this exercise should be done as a meditation. Do not burn any real books. There is no need to build any real campfires. Your books will be useful to your children, relatives and friends. The burning of your books is only IMAGINARY!!!

After you’ve accomplished this small exercise there are two options available to you. The first leads to recapitulation – you may continue using this technique by paying attention to different objects in your house and local environment. The second option is more brutal. Some of you have noticed there is a certain unwillingness to burn the books. Let’s call this unwillingness a “barrier” which you were forced to overcome. I offered you a ‘soft’ exercise to achieve this. If you were unable to sense this barrier then try to imagine burning more important stuff. Beloved pets and close friends used to be focused on in this way for people at the training courses of military parapsychologists.

What are these extreme measures for? They are used so that you can sense the ‘barrier’ of consciousness. Buddhists say that the adept must “kill Buddha” in order to reach enlightenment. It is considered to be the highest overcoming of the main barrier of consciousness. But first they have [to ‘kill’ – not literally of course] gods, mother and father, sisters and brothers.

We are the dreamhackers and that’s why we’ll be considering this ‘barrier’ as a special program of consciousness which corrects our behaviour.
