Astral Projection / Psychic / Remote Viewing Test

This is a little training exercise / experiment I am conducting for at least the next couple of weeks, the idea is to discover actual information through astral projecting. Here is the basic plan:

1. First take several slips of paper (5 to begin) and draw a different symbol on each one for some home made Zener cards like the ones used to test for psychic ability: http://static.howstuffworks.com/gif/esp-zener.gif
2. Select a card at random without looking at either the selected card or any of the cards that were not selected.
3. Place the selected card face up in another room of the house, leave the other cards somewhere safe.
4. Use whatever method works best to induce an OBE, astral project to the room where the card was left.
5. While astral projecting, look at the card and remember what the symbol on the card is.
6. Upon return to your physical body, or waking if this was done through a dream, write down the symbol you saw on the card.
7. Retrieve the selected card and compare the symbol on the card with the one you picked to see if it is a match.
8. Retrieve all of the cards, mix them up, and you are ready for the next run.

I'm not a statistics wiz, but for each time this is done there is a 1 in 5, or 20% chance of selecting the correct card just by chance. And the more correct answers, the less likely it is happening by chance.

Get 1 right in a row: 20% chance
Get 2 right in a row: 4% chance
Get 3 right in a row: 0.8% chance
Get 4 right in a row: 0.16% chance
Get 5 right in a row: 0.03% chance

So to produce consistent results is to virtually rule out the possibility of guessing by chance.

More advanced stages could include placing the chosen symbol in a different location, having more possible symbols to choose from, having something more complex such as a word or a picture to view. Having more possibilities or a more complex thing to view will also decrease the chances of guessing it by chance alone. I will keep track of my progress here, along with the progress of anyone else interested in participating and seeing their results compared to other participants. Good luck!

Good job! Others can't AP so easily! I may be able to, but I still have fear to get over, namely fear of getting lost in the astral plane, because it always looks so real I forget I am out-of-body.

Wow, Nomad, your APs are so much more vivid than mine! :bowdown: And you can't get lost in an AP any more than in a dream, you always have a connection to your physical body until death. I have heard some people can actually see the connection when APing... as a silvery cord or something similar. :shadewink:

Actually, PercyLucid, I'm not really sure if I am APing... I don't trust my abilities there, which is one reason for this experiment. If I am really doing it, I will see the card correctly most of the time. Or I guess alternatively I could be exercising psychic clairvoyance... but either would be cool. This is a plan I am using to practice. :cheeky:

My mum kind of scared me about AP when I was younger. She successfully, if not a bit accidentally accomplished it once when she was a teenager. She went to her boyfriend's house (which she'd never been there before) and saw his room. He even felt her presence, but at the time of it happening, he just felt something in the room with him.

The next day she told him about what she saw, and he was completely astounded. She saw it all right. And the timing of when he felt her matched too.

The fear is though, is mum is adamant she didn't "do things right." As in, she never contacted any spirit guide, she just sort of wandered off, leaving her body unprotected and open to attack. So she never, ever tried to AP again because of the whole fear of attack, but also for fear of getting lost, since she wandered without a guide.

Yeah, I wanted to say, "I can't AP like you" The I can is a typo. I might AP (started once) but that's it :P

I do not have a spirit guide, I did not know I did need one. I though that the will of coming back to your body is enough to have it protected, plus praying to your gods, deceased family, gurus, etc.

Everything I have read on AP, which has been through some books and a lot on the internet, says you have a permanent connection to your physical body, which you may see as a silvery cord or it might not be visible... and also that this connection will allow you to know if there is any danger back at your physical body and return to it instantly. Although there are other precautions to take, such as casting a circle of protection around your physical body before you AP. ;)

Note: As I have said, I am not a statistics wiz, :P so if someone knows statistics better and sees I am wrong about the 11% chance of this happening by chance, please feel free to correct me.

Note 2: I did notice the image I saw last night wasn't as clear as the previous two, so maybe I wasn't focused enough on the task... either way, a miss is a miss. :P

I'm still impressed with 2/3, tbh. Definitely going to keep watch over this thread; I've become very interested in astral projection lately. :D

I will start the project soon. I have to print the cards out of the sight of my wife or she will freak out :lol:

Wow, this is a really interesting thread :). I'll have to follow this one.

I didn't do the astral projection last night due to having a really large amount of negative energy, which I'm sure would have interfered with any attempt I made. Since I didn't attempt it last night, I am not counting it towards my success / failure percentage. I am feeling better for now, so I expect to get back to it tonight. :cheeky:

Day 1

While in bed, I was myself in a deep state of meditation and I felt I was starting to reach Trance, but my wife talked to me and disturbed me badly. She started to talk with me about work. With such thoughts in my mind so recent and close to my goal, I knew it was going to frustrate any attempt so I passed for the night. It was late to clear my mind and start over. I can't tell her I'm going to Astral Project, at least for now, and I forgot to tell her I was going to WILD (instead of projecting) to avoid being disturbed.

I talked with her about AP again, the achievements that can be accomplished and more and she somehow accepted it better than I expected. If tonight I'm able to project properly, tomorrow I will print the cards (she will be gone) and finally start with the project.

Too bad you got interrupted! :P Does you wife just not believe in that kind of thing? Good luck with it tonight. :cheeky:

2/3 great job! This sounds like something really interesting, Ive heard about AP before, but hold little knowledge of it. Ill do some more research later, anything you could tell me about it would help as well. Also, how do you get into the astral plane, do you just meditate until you reach your goal? Id love to participate and throw in some results eventually, just dont know what im really supposed to do lol.

AP and OBE are one in the same. Karen's experience thread is a must read because there are some books recommended and her experiences in it :)

As for the experiment in question, I would have tried with more cards to increase the chances against you which would further help you with information gathering during your AP :)

I'm planning on going back to attempting to AP (I say going back, but I was never really serious about it). If I start to have some rate of sucess I may try this and psot my results here.

Ethan was doing one too, but he doesn't seem to have the time to really focus on it, at the moment.

I wish you good luck on your experimentation. I really hope you get some great results from this in the end.

Not such good news from last night... During my AP I saw the plus symbol, but the selected card was a circle! :sad2: Oh, well. I'll keep going, at least to give it the full two weeks before I consider giving it up. :cheeky: This time was a FAIL.

Hey there, good job so far! I wish I could AP.

But I have a question.. If you were really Astral Projecting, wouldn't you see the right card 100% of the time? Like, if you were to enter our plane, wouldn't you be able to see the correct card each time.. And not something your mind created?

Yeah... that's what I'm trying to find out, and do better. I'm not experienced with astral projection, so I'm not sure if I have been successfully astral projecting. I might also be doing it successfully part of the time and just having an LD other times, without successfully coming back to our plane. I'm hoping to get some answers from this little test. :cheeky:
