Stabilization WITHOUT rubbing hands, verbal commands, etc?

Hey guys, I'm wondering how to stabilize without the use of verbal commands or rubbing hands and such.

I used to LD a ton, and after a one-year dryspell, i'm getting back into things with a 10 minute long Task of the Month lucid last night.

Anyhow, I have two goals in my journal, both of which are to play a gig as a member of certain bands.

Obviously, I can't be rubbing my hands while playing music or shouting commands at some points. Are there any ways you guys know of to stabilize without those? Perhaps even if it can be used only in that situation, that's fine too. :banana:

Yes, I have gig experience for 1000+ people at a time, so I don't need tips on not being overwhelmed with that. ;)

Pay attention to your surroundings the entire time. Otherwise you could take a break to rub your hands together for your fake audience if you really didn't want to lose the dream. I don't know of any other way to do it

To answer your question TS, I believe you can focus on an element of your dream (perhaps your guitar, an amp, or a fellow band member) and that may help to stabilize. Hand rubbing works like a charm for me....

Jarrhead, I *think* you play guitar right? I would think just feeling the guitar in your hands, the texture of the bass strings and the slick surface of the body and the pressure of frets as your fingers move over them would be enough to stabilize the dream. Maybe pay attention to that, since it's often physical sensations that can anchor you in a dream.

Looking at the ground you're standing on is supposed to help too.

Also, look out at the audience and imagine everyone naked. Not that it would help, but it's just fun. :cheeky:

Yes, I play bass.

I think if you just use some basic awareness, focus on the sound and the feel until the dream is stable then you'll be able to easily have the dream stable without having to do much work towards it. You don't always need to constantly rub your hands to keep a dream stable, as long as you do a little bit and keep your lucidity you should be able to go ballistic and have a great concert! :D

Well, your question was how to stabilize the dream while playing. As far as I know stabilization happens when you engage as many senses as possible to anchor yourself in the dream. You wouldn't have to focus constantly on the way the guitar feels.. just when you feel the need to stabilize. Plus I don't see why you wouldn't still experience the emotional high even if you were concentrating on the feel of the guitar.. ? Multitasking my friend.... :cheeky:

Haha, I'm not the best at dream control, and this is a totally new dream realm to me with this idea. I have no clue what happens or doesn't happen.

LOL actually I'm no good at dream control either, I was just repeating stuff I've read, so if you hear something from somebody who really knows what they're talking about, then go with that! :lol:

Haha. I always got aggravated that I could have up to 6 LDs in a night and always fail at control.

I think I'm making progress on overriding schemata though!


This dream seems within my capabilities and it's the top priority on my goal list. It doesn't require much manipulation if I'm already there (hence my other thread on incubation) and I know the drill so there shouldn't be any unexpected twists. Unless a big crowd decides to be louder than the band. LOL.

I'm thinking of incubating a set of IEMs in with me to prevent that, or maybe none at all.

LOL. I'm watching the DVD for incubation purposes to reach this goal tonight, and, well, it looks like they overdubbed a part (for no reason really, it would've sounded fine. It's a live set, rhythms vary from the album. Haven't noticed this the first dozen times I've seen it or so but still..)

So, I'm afraid this'll cause me to think it's all backtracked when I enter the dream and thus have serious problems (or serious help?) with stabilization and control.

And thinking about it will make it worse (or better) i suppose. Lol.
