Need some tips on how to make my LD's last longer

So I've been using a WBTB method and I've been able to have LD's a few times in a row the past few nights I've been trying the technique. However, all of them so far have been fairly short and I haven't been able to do much of anything. Last night I had walked around (first feeling objects to try and stabilize) and was starting to talk to a DC when I blinked for a second and that killed it. I'm sure as you have more LD's you'll naturally be able to stay longer (?) but I'm looking for some good tips that I can do to help increase stability/length of the LD now.

Blinking can be troublesome when you are new with LDing. It can connect your dreams to what your eyes are doing and open them up. Laying down can also do this. I would recommend staying away from these until you know how to stabilize pretty well.

I use dream control to do it with my watch, but that is a little more advanced. :P

Basically, in summary of that wiki post, be aware of your dream. The sights, the sounds, the smells, the feelings. Focus on all of that and remind yourself where you are and that it will last a long time, and it will :)

I can attest that your LDs might not naturally get longer if you simply have more of them. After a couple hundred LDs I'm still struggling with stabilization myself! The tutorial BrandonBoss posted though is the best one I've seen for stabilizing. I should probably read it and try to apply it again.

Time spent doing a thing does not guarantee progress in it. :P

Wow, I would love to have hours of LD and dream stabilization will probably become more of a focus of mine considering that i've had more than a few lucids.

BrandonBoss, How long are your LDs out of curiousity?

I have probably 10-20 minutes on average (closer to 10, but I DEILD back into almost all of them). Have had some really long ones (couple of days). I don't use this stabilization tech anymore, but it is a good start. :)

-Touching walls and other objects.
-Rubbing hands together.
-Shouting verbal commands.
-Activating all dream senses (including smell).
-Minimizing excitement.

Try not to expect that you'll wake up, even if the dream seems blurry. Instead, try expecting a new scene.

Yeah! That's one of the things I've recently noticed about lot of my lucids: sometimes I used to think the dream is finished just because of I started to feel SP and the dream faded away. Then threw my lucidity with it, thinking that the dream has already ended when a non-lucid started in stead.

Perhaps that's the main reason why sometimes I wake up feeling I was lucid last night although I cannot remember anything about the dream. May be it just turned into a non-lucid and I let it go.
