Have you ever had a False Awakening, and then you dream you are paralyzed in bed? I have had this many times. I think one thing it may be caused by is our dreaming mind is receiving input from our physical body. In other words, in the Wakeworld, our body is paralyzed by the SP hormone, so we don't injure ourselves in our sleep, and our mind receives that input through our sense of proprioception Proprioception - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia, just as our mind receives input from Wakeworld sounds, and sometimes they become sounds in our dreams, like our alarm clock becoming a fire alarm in the Dreamworld.
I think another cause may be fear of SP. When I was young (now 38), there was no internet for me to research strange dream phenomena. I used to believe SP was a demon sitting on my chest with its claws in my brain. My intense fear of SP caused me to have nightmares of SP.
I wonder if there are other causes of False SP.
