Hi all. I'm working on a new guide (of sorts), and was wondering what everyone considers some basic abilities which every lucid dreamer should seek to obtain mastery over.
Just as examples, things like flight, telekinesis, and teleportation are what I'm looking for.

I think its pretty important to be able to summon dream characters, they make possible to talk to your subconscious. For me that is more important than flying or having fun, because you can use your lucid dreams in a really productive way. :cheeky:
making your consciousness bigger than your body or smaller. (I use scan)
element control
DC control
Belief change (working on it, getting better) (being able to change what you believe about something, switching it from real or not real, consistent dream world, to non consistent)
ability to close your eyes/hurt yourself/remove parts of yourself/have sex/look at bright lights/fall on your back/say your name without waking
I don't know if it's "control", but the absolute most important things are: maintaining high lucidity continuously and extending the duration of the dream. It allows practice in everything else.
Element manipulation: my fire is always transparent/ghostly and very weak. Tried lightning from fingers but nothing appeared.

Belief change is what I am working on the most. Need to set some more fun goals revolving around it though.

The guide doesn't focus on stabilization (already wrote a guide for that). It's more of a cheat sheet to spark some creative thought and to help folks apply basic theory in a practical way. =)
My primary goal with the guide is helping others build their confidence to the point where they can start deeper experimentation. I think I've got a good base so far (thanks to everyone who has replied), but would definitely appreciate more input here before I finish up the first draft and start the editing process.
Experience weightlessness, low gravity, and high gravity.
Breathe under water.
Summoning things out of thin air. Achieving that makes most people "click" and truly realize they can do anything in a LD. Shapeshifting is awesome and helps develop tactile concentration. Fireballs and lightning bolts are also pretty cool, but not very practical besides the WOW! factor.
While it's not strictly a "power", teaching beginners to use visualization in order to shift their surroundings and rely less on archetypal control would be great. Not that there's anything wrong with using archetypes for dream control, but visualization is, IMO, a quicker path to the point where the dreamer can 'just do it' rather than using complicated dream control techniques.
oh, and teleport is a big one. I saw it was already listed, but I spent a long time working on teleporting because I realized that goals are specific to location and flying is slow. :P Teleport can be using your world around you to teleport, but it is good to use different ones depending on the dream. If you want the place to be a real like place you have to use a realistic teleport. If not, you can just be like "screw this reality, I am going to another one."

Flight
Teleportation
Telekinesis
Elemental Control
Materializing/Locating Objects
Materializing/Locating People
Mind Control
I may mention and discuss some other things listed here. Let me know if there's something not listed above that you'd really, really like me to address.

I know this thread is a bit old, but these few things I mastered as a child when I didn't really know what lucid dreaming was. These were more of "defense mechanisms" to help me deal with or escape nightmares so I think they fall into the realm of more "instinct"
Escaping a dream into another dream: this I created to escape nightmares when they got out of my control, in which I would imagine my body to be like a wisp of smoke and float out of one dream into another dream. I could not control what dream I went into but it did help me escape a bad situation.
Flying/floating: Since I have become an adult and become aware of what lucid dreaming is, I have mastered flying to where I can fly as fast as a jet and go as far as I need to. When I was young, and when I didn't have as much control of my flight, I could still fly but it was more of floating above whatever DC or enemy I needed to get away from.
Materializing: usually weapons that weren't to complicated, guns, swords, shields, ect.
(I notice now there is a completed list, lol but non the less these are the thing that even a child could master IMO)
Are you still going todo a class in archetypes for LDIng?
