I have always flown in normal and lucid dreams - as someone mentioned it is a good dreamsign. One thing to say is that you get better with practice, so dont give up! I used to have the problems mentioned of maintaining altitude, or overcomming inertia, or landing (I used to find it hard to balance on a rooftop when weightless, kinda kept drifting off...) but I can be quite precise now. Still havent got to outerspace - but am encouraged by all you astro-oneironaughts :D
A fun transport mode I get into is bouncing - like The Hulk but bouncier. Using my legs like springs that enable huge leaps, higher and higher, over trees, houses, mountains.... quite a rush. Quite tricky stopping.
Where does teleporting fit into all this? If I'm in a hurry (!) I just look at where I want to go and miss out the journey (my partner taught me that one). If I cant see the place I want to go, then spinning usually works, or just closing then opening my eyes.
