It means you are in love with your mother.
You should be ashamed of yourself.
I can relate to that.
I had always assumed it was just because I like going barefoot [in the summer, at home]. That said, there are a lot of reasons to wear shoes for practical reasons. If my subconscious doesn't want to wear shoes, that seems sensical to me.
This makes for a fine sign to follow, though. I've looked down many times to find my dream feet barefoot in an environment they would rarely be otherwise. For a while they were always painted green in dreams, and when they weren't in real life it's would all click.
Hilariously enough, there have been public places in my dreams that I refused to walk through because I couldn't find my shoes.
I guess if I want to get symbolic, the most obvious choice would be travel? Or maybe protection of some sort.
Symbolically, I would look for something like "not prepared for travel/journey" or something like that. I often find myself shoeless (or completely naked) in dreams and I'm torn between whether this is because I'm aware that I really do have no shoes on at the time I'm dreaming (few would) or if it's about being unprepared.
Oh, just for fun did you say? It means you threw them at George Bush.
Nonsense! If I were to have thrown shoes at George Bush, I would not have missed. I have to admit he is quicker than I would expect, though.
Yea, the fact that it limits me in my dream as far as where I can go makes me think something along those lines.
Barefoot can mean you are totaly in touch with each step of your lifes path, well grounded, or respect for another person... like when Moses was told by God to remove his shoes because he was standing on holy ground. People remove their shoes so they don't track in dirt into someones home, this is out of respect...but you aren't being seen as removing your shoes so this is not likely. Going barefoot can represent poverty, sensual freedom, lack of suitable awareness, inappropriate bahavior, disrespect for authority.
Walking around barefoot in a dream is a symbol for being without principles, and a moral foundation. Shoes in dreams represent our approach to life and how we choose get around it mentally and emotionally. If you have none it means there are issues in your waking life that you need to reconsider in manner with higher standards. It's definitely a message about a need for you to have more respect and to care more about other people.
With all of the different variables, it would be up to the dreamer to see which symbolic meaning hints the right "nerve".
