why do i keep having dreams of my old toxic best friend

I don't miss her, I don't even worry about her. I don't even think about her at all, yet she very regularly [like every other day literally] she appears in my dreams. usually shes there sitting with me, being annoying and pushy, supremely clingy, mean, or overreacting to others and such.

ive only had one dream where she physically attacked me [once i had a dream she saw me, ran up to me and punched me and i woke up in fear.]

usually in dreams with her I try to avoid her and get away from her and always succeed.
I don't know why I keep having dreams about her, I was friends with her unfortunately for the entirety of 2017.

I wouldn't call these dreams nightmares, she doesnt really scare me in the dreams just bothers my dream self.
why am I having these dreams? its been almost 2 years and she doesn't really bother me at all, barely even think about her, I've moved on, don't miss her one bit or anything.

Yeah, I've had dreams like this. The way I see it is there isn't an easy answer or a magic lucid pill to make your subconscious stop thinking about her. You could ask that dream character why she is appearing there. Sometimes they will respond to you. Other time, not so much. You could try to tell them how you feel.
You most likely have to let it run the course. Or your subconscious is trying to teach her or you a lesson. However, I could be wrong. I've had a similar thing that happened to me before, though, where I would have good days and my bad days.

She might represent some aspect of yourself that reminds you of her. Maybe in some way you're like her? Or maybe there's some part of your personality that you find annoying and wish you could get away from. I don't know, just throwing some ideas out there.

Could represent some kind of repressed emotion with her, maybe you didn't get a chance to tell her how you really felt about her? so

This person is not a celebrity so really there is no need to keep giving them any attention. Slowly, you would probably see less and less of this person in your dreams. For me, I had seen the person that I would dream about in real life. The best thing that I could do was to treat them like they are a stranger in my dream and real life.

If she was toxic perhaps you (unconsciously) reminisce why relationship took place to begin with..in other words, she's still working her way out of your system.
