Hot Air Balloon Friend

Okay, so normally my friends and I constantly remind each other that the best person to interperet ones dream is onesself, however, with this dream my friend had, she believes there might be something about some of the symbolization in the dream that could be better interpereted by others. Here's how it goes, as clearly as she could recall to me.

It's a highly recurring dream, and always happens the same way. My friend is packing things up into a hot air balloon, preparing for a journey, but she never gets to go on this journey because the dream ends before she's done packing.

I know it's not much to go on, but it's the most I can confidently remember.

My friend is confused by it because of several things. First of all, she's usually really good a lucid dreaming, so her dreams are normally under her control. This one she can't seem to do anything in, it's just something she's in. Second, she really loves to travel, but is afraid of hot air balloons because she feels she is at the mercy of the wind in them.

She says she's confused, because she often flies in her dreams, so she doesn't understand why she can't just fly wherever she's going, or ride a bird or something. She doesn't understand why it *has* to be a hot air balloon everytime.

You said she likes to travel and shes afraid of taking a hot air balloon.

Maybe if she tried to ride in one the dreams will stop?

It just sounds to me like she is preparing and waiting for something to happen in her life without her knowing what. (That would probably be the most common explaination.)
She is ready for a new beginning, a spiritual uplifting, at the mercy of the winds, she isn't making her own destiny but waiting for the direction of a new beginning to be chosen for her, whether or not she should.

I have studied many dreams. I cannot say that hot air balloons are common symbols. But I tend to link the sky to the future. Plans to me link to a wish to get moving on some project. here we have a strong association. The dreamer does not like hot air balloons because they leave her at the mercy of the wind. That emotion is important. It means that whenever she gets the dream she maybe feels an identical feeling.. that she is at the mercy or other people and is not in full control.

Thats my best guess here. Often I relate dreams to specific emotions from the day before. so whenever she gets the dream again she should think specifically about
1. some strong emotion or thought she felt the day before
2. some feeling about the day to come and the future in general
