I remember my first Lucid Dream
Back in the early eighties I was attending a community college and had taken a psycology course. During the course we had different topics and one of them was on dreaming. We were told as part of our assignment to write down our dreams but the focus wasn't on LD's.
Sometime during the quarter at college I had a dream that I was walking through a cemetary and out of the corner of my eyes I thought I saw a object dissapear behind one of the headstones. Then it happend a couple more times. As I walked along farther all of the sudden some kind of "pig like" monster jumped out in front of me and seemed to be very angry and aggressive. At this point I realized "This has to be a dream" and ran towards the monster instead of away from it. I was laughing and it started changing to being friendly. Then I remember thinking to myself that I might be able to change the dream and started thinking of a beach. I found myself on a sandy beach near water and then I think my excitement woke me up.
Later on I realized that part of the scene from the cemetary was from a "horror" movie I saw when I was just a teenager called "Phantasim" (spelling) which included a killer "silver ball" :)
The Mask & Strange Watches
I gave up about a week ago on doing rc's then this morning I had a dream turn into a lucid one.
Very strange (to me) as I was in a confrontation with some guy and stuck my hand into his stomach. No problem figuring out I was dreaming at this point.
Then I twisted and pulled and caused me now to think of a scene from "The Mask" with all the cartoon like things happening "as the middle of his body" was now deformed. Well the guy was in great pain and I walked away and again just went through walls from what ever room/building I was in.
I guess it is kind of a quick observation , but when I figure out I am lucid I just start going off in another direction right away.
Then I find myself sitting with some friends and having them all look at their watches doing rc's. The digital read out was all messed up on mine . Everyone elses read different times and changed at every new glance as I could see theirs too. So now I am trying to figure out what to do next as I next find myself standing on the deck in the backyard of the house I grew up in. Looking around at the old neighborhood.
I felt like I was starting to wake up and forgot about the "spinning" idea I heard about at this forum.
Shortly after this I woke up.
I did wake up in the morning one time and then went back to sleep for about a hour and a half when I had the lucid dream. It also seems to help if I am laying on my back when I fall asleep again instead of my side or stomach.
Still not sure how much time I feel like putting into my dreams / journal / recall and such.
I sure do find lucid dreams exciting and an adventure ... just need to do more planning in the wakeing state if I continue to pursue them.
Planning your next LD, including content.
It's been almost a month that I have not put any effort into attaining lucidity but I have had many more dreams that I recall when I wake up. Some of them just floor me "that I didn't realize I was dreaming".
Years ago I remember thinking about a situation / dream I wanted to have and after visualizing it in my mind off and on for a week or so I actually found myself in the dream I had planned. It was very exciting and I thought easier to realize I was dreaming.
I am wondering if anyone else has success with this and if it is or can be a regular part of lucid dreaming. It just seems like it would be easier to notice signs and become lucid if you already knew what was going to happen.
My next fantasy/dream which I know I will never actually do in waking life would be to windsurf at "Hookipa" , Hawaii. So my idea is to visualize it and fantasize about it until I have the "dream".
What do you think? How long do you think it would take and How often would I have to meditate on it for it to happen.
