Not sure if I had a LD or not. Can anyone help?

I think I had my first LD last night, but I'm not sure. Let me explain what happened. I had small dream before this, you can look at my latest DJ if you want. I remember being somewhere (I'm not sure exactly where) and I decided to do a reality check. At first my hand looks normal but then my pinky starts to distort and stretch out. I realize I am dreaming and the first thing I think about is flying. It only lasts a few seconds before I wake up in my bed and I instantly call my friend and tell him I had a LD. But then I wake up again for real.

So I had a LD that was a dream inside a dream. But I'm not exactly sure it was a real LD. The LD felt just like a regular dream and I was definitely not as excited to become lucid as I normally would of. My theory is that because it was a dream inside of a dream, I was simply dreaming of having a dream that was a LD without actually having one. Make sense? Do you think this is what happened? Because honestly when I was lucid it still felt like a regular dream and when I think back on it I don't exactly remember being "aware" yet I was...it's hard to explain.

In dreams, there isn't such a thing as 'layers', for example, a dream within a dream. Rather, when you fall asleep in a dream, you simply transition to the next part of the dream. I've had a dream like this, and it was very vague. But it's still a lucid dream if you realised in the dream 'within' your dream that you were dreaming. What I would suggest is, get into a habit of reality checking whenever you wake up. This way, if you have an FA (False Awakening) like the one you mentioned in your post, you'll have more chance of regaining lucidity.

Yea thats a good one, coz then whenever you have a False Awakening, you will probably become lucid!

PercyLucid had a dream with layers in it. He went to sleep within his dreams (I think it was 3 times), then he tried waking up, and each time he woke up in the bed that he went to sleep in the layer before.

I had the same thoughts the first time I had a lucid dream. I spent ages trying to figure out if it was possible to dream you were having a lucid dream (but not actually be having one). Mostly it just made my head hurt, but in the end I put it down to the fact that there are probably just different degrees of lucidity and vividness in dreams.
