What is YOUR dream sign?
I don't have any...
Neither do I.
No repeating signs that I see.
I only know one,
Seeing people that i used to go to school with.
I dont see any of them anymore, save for a few. So when i see someone from school i would do a reality check... but i am not good at remembering those.
My dream sign is fish.
Third person viewing of self and once a light switch.
When I was younger and had the flu a few times I had dreams of a chair and two people. Thought I was dead or something. But those nightmares were years ago.
I along with Aphius I see peaple that I used to go to school with. It should be a good dream sign but I can never remember how I became lucid. The next thing you know BAMB!! I'm like holy cow- I'm dreaming.
I have several dream signs;
2 little kids- a boy and girl 5 and 7 years old
the number 38
a small dog.
a cat or a fox (Not sure which)
Still wondering what the number 38 is indicitave of.
Abstract Dreamer
Mysterious third person that's like in almost all of my dreams. (Second person is usually a friend) I never can see who it is for some reason. It drives me nuts sometimes.
being in places far away like old hometowns........and maybe always failing to score..lol
a dream sign that I had for years but just recently triggered lucidity is the crumbling, dissolving or falling out of my teeth..this used to aggrivate me before I Joined this site.
I think strange natural disaster may be one of my dream sign but I have not put it into effect yet. I have not found any others. Still looking! And maybe someday I will be able to become lucid by noticing one hehe!
Light switch in the bathroom doesnt work ← my small dreamsign
I have several.
1) Losing control while driving
2) An intensely blue sky
3) Walking around naked or in my underwear
4) Anxiety situation, like cannot remember a combination or cannot get somewhere
Seeing any of these in a dream will almost always bring on lucidity.
Exactly the same here. Mine usually fell out whole. I hated this type of dream but stopped having them after I found out about LDs.Quote:

After studying my dream journal...
-Old school friends
-Rave parties
-Houses
-Dark streets
-Getting chased
I always wondered what others dream signs were. This is a good thread :goodjob2:
The teeth falling out is common, I read somewhere that it usually occurs with young people (which could be another reason I stopped having them).
Alaurast78: It might be that! I never considered the implications of that dream sign in real life before, just took it for granted as a common experience.
I've discovered my dream sign by studying this past month's dreams:
Whenever I see a celebrity or a character from a book or movie, I know I'm dreaming.
I see celebrities in my dreams all the time; Harry Potter and Lord of the Rings characters pop up often too.
I just heard about all of this dream stuff a couple days ago, so I reflected on all the dreams that I can remember. I haven't had a LD yet, and I've never kept a dream journal, but I know of a lot of dream signs that at least one happens in everyone of my dreams...
*not being able to talk and/or yell
*being chased (very common for me)
*being lost in a big house or building (very common for me)
*bathrooms (don't ask why, cause I have no idea) (very common for me)
*forgetting locker combinations
*being late for a class
*being in the wrong class
*seeing myself in third person (like i'm watching a movie of myself) (every dream that I have)
Does anyone think this will help me in the future to become lucid easier, by having so many dream signs?
I think my dream sign is my sister. Its weird, she's usually in my dreams. Even if she doesnt say or do anything important and jus stands there being annoying, which leads me to believe its not a dream cause she's always annoying. Meh.
i've had several dreams where im driving and I just start drifting off to the side of the road, correct myself and then i drift off again.. its a very scary feeling cause I have little control over it =
I also have dreams where I try running so hard, but its like i have no energy and I move no where...
i sometimes appear in one of two places which I know I only dream. This has made me lucid twice.
Dont really have a dreamsign anymore. Used to be my old house, but I guess that has stopped bothering me.
ah hah, i've had that same thing... only I never thought it was a dream sign...Quote:

i moved like 5 years ago, but liked my old house so much (i guess cause i'd just been living there since I was 3...) I always have dreams where I'm living back there and they are very happy dreams.. then I wake up :(
In the past 2 weeks i have had 4 dreams that included a couple of people from work. I know that i was dreaming cuz we were in a totally different citys... one was where a guy from work and I were sitting on a curb talk about something random... it looked like new york city but i have never been there before. i mean i like the ppl that i work with but come on! i have to work all day with them and then at night i dream about them? whats up with that?
Now you mention it, I did dream of my old house a lot after I moved. In fact, I think I dreamt of it been turned into a supermarket before I moved! I can remember that dream well!
I don't have any dreamsigns.. Just read my journal ( dream journal section) Nothing in it is really the same.
I suppose my dreamsign is technology. I have frequent dreams about getting that new graphics card or laptop. On rare occasions do I notice something funny about the interface/design of the objects that shouldn't be there, but I usually get distracted by something and any slight realization of my dreaming goes away... :(
My dreamsign is my computer. :D It never malfunctions (as I have heard, a very common dreamsign), but instead it is the portal to limitless knowledge. I am on the computer, and I don't see what is on the screen. The knowledge just comes to me as I am sitting in front of it.
my dream sign seems to be a particular person. but last night i dreamed i was on the computer and logged into this forum...and of course i didn't realize i was dreaming  .
That is tough somtimes when it is an individual you see normally. You almost have to do a reality check every time you see them. Then you get into the habit and when you see them in the dream you can determine you are dreaming. In theory of coarse. :D
Hey guys my first post. I'm also very new to dream analysis and stuff(though I have always been able to lucid dream)
-Sometimes my eyes feel glued shut. not completely but i feel like i am squinting. It seems to be like this throughout the dream and there is nothing I can do so I purposefully wake up.
-I can remember dreaming in third person before.
-Someone told me that like 75% of people dream in black in white? I can distinctly remember black and white dreams and color dreams.
-Not being able to yell.
-One that often use to make me realize that I was dreaming was that I am commonly in places recognizable to me as places I know but they are often really distorted. Sometimes I am somewhere that loosk normal but if I leave it is different outside.
Sorry for the n00b post. :?
Oh, this one dreamsign doesn't happen much, but it has a certain emotional impact on me.
Sometimes, I may be driving a car, and I hit an upward hill that go so steep that it's nearly vertical at the end. Once I get to the top, I realize that I'm going too far, and I fall down toward the ground. It's a scary feeling.
When i'm moving very slowly or when i turn on a light.
Hey Coldsteel32 -it's all good.
I had a dream that I wa teaching my friend to Ld and never became Lucid-------Daaaaa!!!!!!!
dreamsign = something that will trigger your lucidity 100% of the time.
SO far I've found that only light switch in my bathroom and digital clocks fit this description...
Dude, who hacked your account... :? Your typing is all messed up.Quote:

kids i currently go to school with, kinda hard to do reality checks because i see them every day and night
mine are
My friend
friends from church
my old car (subaru)
big outdoor places like football games ampatheatres
those are the reoccuring ones the most that i see in my dreams
No triggers for me that I've found.
I just usually become aware, this is not a good thing because I can never stay in the dream, hopefully reading your post will help me find a trigger and eliminate my problem.
thanx for your posts.
tekdawg
No sings in particular. Just focus my intent and will strongly before i go to sleep to be lucid and i spontaneously become aware.
I test if it is a dream with a simple technique, just try to move objects with my mind, works 99% of the time, even when i find it difficult to fly.
I have a natural dreamsign for things attacking me.
So if you think you're sharing a dream with me - try hurting me :D
I seem to also question locks and keys naturally... eg. if I drove the wrong car with the wrong key... I notice
My dreamsigns SHOULD be clothing problems. Eg. last night I was bitching in my dream because my shirt was too small and I looked like a ... well.. 'fag' (no offence to those of that persuasion)
Hmm... theres an idea. Wear that shirt more often and make it my dreamsign.. **grin**
I'm new here..
But my dream signs are
1. having endless dollar bills in my pocket.
2. having to to use the restroom & peeing can last forever.
3. able to start any car without a key.
4. fighting/brawl scene.
My automatic dream sign is when i am dreaming I am moving but i can some how tell that my body has a still feeling. Somehow when i notice it though i don't wake I just start lucid dreaming.
Weird huh but it makes sense to me.I guess i have a really good sense of what my body is doing
I haven't looked through my journal thouroughly for a dream sign yet, (I keep telling myself I'm going to, but never do ), but I think it's probably something to do with school. Usually, it'll be the inside of my high school, then when I walk outside, it looks like my middle school. :|
Yeah I notice weird things like that.Like I will get in the car and drive somewher and I ended up in Washington D.C.
Celebrities, and the ocean. Any time I see either I know I'm dreaming (Going to make for an unpleasant situation someday. Where I either attack a celebrity, or I drown in the ocean because I think I'm dreaming).
Yeah like you dose off at school wake up and think your dreaming and start another columbine or hit the coach or something lol 8)
my dream sign is boxes where things are supposed to be.
That is weird. padfoot why does it say inactive account under your name are you banned or is that your custom rank?I have never seen a banned members post so i don't know.
I've just discovered a great website where you can buy lucid dreaming products...
thought i'd share it:
http://www.dreamexplorer.co.uk
Gonna buy myself one of those lucid dreaming t-shirts!
Those are cool.
What the hell is an "Oneironaut"?
The funniest is the thong. I can imagine you ready to pull that off your girl, and then all of a sudden you see "Am I Dreaming?" and you wake up. :-P
Of course you could always use that go lucid I geuss...
Oh yes and I did some research and it seems an "Oneironaut" is not a real word, but means someone who dreams or knows they're dreaming.
Like Astronaut=space + sailor or one who sails
so, Oneironaut=dream+ sailor or one who sails
So I geuss it's one who travels in their dreams or somthing.
Fog...
I remember seeing that Oneironaut means somebody who explores the dream world.
than i huess i am a oneironaut
I have a few dream signs that occur really sporadically, but I have one that is really consistant.........
..............sigh................it's an actor.
Ok, I'm too embarrassed to say.
edited to add:
Oh yeah, I just remembered I have this other REALLY really common dream sign (can't believe I forgot it!). TORNADOS!! I have a tornado dream about 3 times a year. And in about 1/2 of those times, I'm aware that I am dreaming.
money
Money is your dream sign? I wonder why.
my dream signs are diff often, but the most reacuring one is my grandmothers house and the area around that, but over time ive had others like really cool looking birds and some others.
annoyingly they dont usualy get my lucid.
Now wait a minute.
I thought dream signs were items or themes that showed up regurally in dreams.
Liiiiike...
Mine are.....
Stars
Dogs
A pair of twins ( a girl and boy)
Tv or movie screens
AD
Yep, that's what dreamsigns are.Quote:

I don't have a list of dreamsigns because no specific object pops up in my dreams regularly. I have common themes:
being chased
feeling left out/forgotten
living in the 17th century
and other things (can't think of them at the moment)
I do RCs whenever my watch beeps (at the top of every hour, just to keep LDing on my mind) and whenever something questionable/bizzare occurs.
I have one :o! I have a dream sign!
School
For about a week straight I've had dreams about school. Now that I've caught on, I hope my brain doesn't start to dream about other stuff ;D
Je33icaLy88, has your watch ever beeped in a dream? Ive heard that people who use the beeping every hour RC get frustrated that it's not something that happens in dreams.
That's really spooky that your dreamtheme is living in the 17th century :D

Actually, my watch never beeps in dreams. I just set my watch to beep on the top of every hour to keep LDing on my mind. I don't rely on my watch, I just do RCs when bizzare occurances occur.
LOL, it's weird, I'm always dreaming of living in the past. My family and friends are there too. It's just were living in a world of ships and pirates! :P
Being chased after (like by cops, people who are trying to kill me, etc.), or my old house. It seems as if my subconscious refuses to move to a different house
You remember beatle juice (real spelling?) the movie?
Perhaps you were really killed .. hmmm ... maybe not
my friend who died last year
public lockeroom showers
blind without my contacts
If i see a butterfly and it lands on me i become lucid straight away. This happens quite a lot.
Peace Sensi.
The only dream sign of mine that I know of is that all of the liquids pulse different colors.
...ohhh I like the butterfly...
My dream signs are anything that breaks the laws of physics - like flying/levitating/bouncing, which is often how I get about in dreams. However, this is such a natural a mode of transport that it doesnt seem to break the laws of (dream) physics (anyway are we sure we know them all?), so it doesnt always send me lucid.
There are also particular dreamscapes that are amalgams of real places, like a school which is a combination of three old schools, or train stations and parts of London. These are so frequented/familiar that I know my way around them, and so they dont always work as dreamsigns, unless something is out of place, like a door missing.
Being barefoot, or naked!
Can dream signs be set up? I mean if you notice that a particular theme or object keeps comming up can you tell yourself (convincingly) in waking hours that these are ream signs?
Used to be Star Trek! :-P
I have only the feeling of haziness, like I'm walking through fog or something.
my dreamsign is having really bad/blurry vision.
Actually, now that I think about it, in most of my dreams, I am flying or walking above the ground by just a few inches.
my dreams signs are
1) my cat changed color
2) I have more than one cat
3) I have more than two dogs, or they change breeds.
4) Tornadoes
5) Seeing old friends from school that moved away.
6) life seems to have become a musical
7) I have no idea where I am
8.) I'm at school and can't remember what class I'm supposed to be in or where it is.
9) I'm driving a car (i can't drive) and am usually being chased by the police.
I have a lot :D 8) 8)
My most effective dreamsigns are:
1. conglomerate places: e.g. I'm in a place that's both my work and my apartment, or both a cafe I hang out at now and a diner I used to go to.
2. levitating or gliding over the ground
3. recognising that the person I'm talking to isn't fully real (although sometimes I meet people in dreams who are fully real and don't seem like a projection, and I can't explain that).
these things make me go, hmm.
is it possible to have a nightmare sign? the only dream signs that are recurring are my dogs, whenever i see them i do a quick RC, but in my nightmares they always get killed does that make them a dreamsign?
The only reoccuring dreamsign has been Nicholas Cage. He's just a cool actor.
Even though I have been having lucid dreams since I was little, I didn't know what they were. But since I really started thinking about lucid dreams about a week ago or so, I have been dreaming constantly that I can breathe underwater. I am one of those really "interesting" people that has weird intuition and is constantly living in Deja Vu. I read this site last night and easily became lucid,,, right after I was thrown into a pool w/ my friend nearby. I was in a red dress with a white lining and i felt like an angel twirling and swimming underwater, but as lately, I could breathe and TALK underwater. I think that this mighttttt be my dreamsign, because in last two nights, I've been doing it. You think?
My most consistent dream sign is being underground. I would say at least half of my dreams include some undergound element (though I haven't done an exact count). This means either I'm in a cave, a basement, an underground structure, a tunnel, or some such thing. This is sort of annoying since I rarely am underground in real life, hence I don't get much opporunity to practice recognizing the dream sign. In fact, I've never successfully used this dream sign in a reality check.
I'm still trying to think of mine, but I think one of them might be strong emotions like anger or despair or confusion or panic. They vary from dream to dream but I rarely feel those motions as strongly IRL as I do in dreams.
My most common dream sign:
Insects/spiders
I have a few other dream signs but they go on and off.
I used to dream alot about windows,
pigs, angels, devils, witches, voodoo priests, tvs, my sister, my old elementry school and classmates,
Thats my only dreamsign, which doesnt help me much. Im always at my old shcool. Go there a lot in dreams where Im almost lucid but dont quite get there.Quote:

Mine is tornados, for some reason I have like 10 tornado dreams a month...now if I could only recognize that it is actually a dream sign while i'm dreaming I would be all set.
I think friends, school chums & family are a really universal ones since they're just such a key part to most peoples' lives.
One i just thought of that has been with me since before I ever heard of LDing is: Getting in a fight and being in slow motion or not effecting the other person at all with my attacks...it really sucks =( I'm going to seriously beat some ass once I get LDing down. :|
mine i think its when people are tryin to attack me
-A dark or light (depending) reflection of me looking into a in the mirror
-Purple Blinding Eyes
-Marissa (girl I love but can't have)
-The sign of the Egyption Sun
i think mine is cocaine
ive only documented three dreams (one night) so far, but going on that, and slight memory of past dreams, id have to say mine is my old middle school. also, two out my three last dreams involved me in a (one verbal, one physical) fight with people i know...may or may not be friends
Dreamsigns (but they haven't triggered lucidity yet):
1) being with co-workers
2) my office is different
3) having the sensation of extreme close-ups (like my vision turns into a magnifying glass)
4) being able to read the minds (or speak to) animals
I'm trying to become familiar with these and recognize them. I don't seem to be able to when dreaming. In the morning I can't believe I overlooked them. I dream of my office every nite.
i have two main ones.
1* this old gypes lady
2* nightmares
i think i may have a few dream signs
1 hot girls every where
2 old freinds
3 dinosaurs
i like the hot girl dreams :D
the old freinds is just there to be
the dinosaurs i have no clue but about once a week i have them in a vivid dream
Thats a good idea....use frightening situations as dream signs. or when you get frightened to do an RCQuote:
i have two main ones. *

[/b]
I think one of my dream signs is the Empire State building.
According to my journal it appears in my dreams pretty often, so I'm going to start doing an RC every time I see it, or a picture of it, or its name.
My signs are:
- old friends who have moved to different places show up
- strange behaviour of people, like all staring to me with open mouths
- walking in underware or naked
- familiar places that get messed up
I used tot think i didnt have dreamsigns, but hen i realized i have always had dreams about flying, which is ironic because most people like to fly in lucid dreams but it happens to me iin regular dreams.
My dream signs are:
-HUGE rooms or buildings
-out of place co-workers
-people I know acting different
-getting into violent fights and always winning
been almost a year ago... but still when I dream of beeing home or anything to do with a house, its my old house.
now thats sick-nasty! I wish i had those. In my whole life I can only remember one tornado ever. WHenever I'm lucid im going to try and conjure one upQuote:

on-topic: I have none...well actually..maybe that the breaks in cars dont friggin work! D=< Also sometimes Im at school and sometimes i breathe underwater and lately i've been playing video games in my dreams >_>
Although I am a beginner, many of my recent dreams have involved a girl named Kyra. She's like this super-straight edge girl... And this is why I was skeptical when I saw her smoking a joint in Chinatown... So I remebered that dream. And then, a few weeks later, I had another strange dream with her in it.... Involved a strange college entrance exam... :P
This will sound abit ood, but i think mine May be death and fear. :|
the most effective dream sign ive ever used is old childhood friends , people u dont see anymore or keep in contact with.
i normally see one of them in my dream and think hmm im dreaming then i think oh shit im lucid then WHA LA.
Hello.. this is my first post..
I have been keeping a dream journal since a few weeks ago from a spontanious idea. I've been writing down new dreams and ones that I have recalled from the past. I've reviewed my dreams just recently and found that two of my signs are:
-Metallic objects (Such as weapons, or huge spheres in the middle of nowhere. These objects mostly have the shine like mercury.)
-My next, and most prominant one is nature. If there's a lot of greenery around, it's a dream sign.
I have not yet had a controllable dream yet, but I have had a lucid dream where I realized I was having a nightmare, and during the dream, I woke myself up becuase I didn't want to be in that situation. I regret waking myself up, because now, after reading the tutorials and topics on lucid dreaming and dream control, I realize that I could have changed my dream while I had some control over it.
My dream signs (so far):
Jumping from one tree too an other one as a squirrel and beeing nearly totaly blind while doing so. <--had quite few with that and became lucid in 2 of them because i thought i new this from somewhere but lost lucidity very fast.
Being tortured by someone and taking revenge much worse one that person. <-- after becoming lucid and not loosing control again I never stay asleep very long but I enough for payback  (some very sick things...)
I'm trying to remember something but I can't. Then I realise after concentrating very much that I'm sleeping. <-- not sure if there is a sign
There are other things that happen very often in my dreams but they never triggered anything (atleast I can't remember):
School-building or other hated places are becoming mazes.
I'm an animal (sqruirrels left out )
Teeth are falling out (now something special) because they are pushed out from new grown teeth below.
Everybody around me dies (family, friends) and I feel good
Falling
Being shot
Being in an manga like world
Some horrible woman (few times it was a man) is chasing me... and she/he rapes me (I'm not into such stuff and I didn't like it) (maybe there IS a paperdoll after all) :? ... and I'm her first choice sex-slave... I always feel sick after that like throwing up. Maybe some suppressed childhood-memories. Or it's HER. Beware of the paperdoll.
My legs and arms are getting longer and I get 'long' hands and fingers.
There are many more like being special people but those things don't happen so often.
My dream sign I believe is this purple world that all my dreams are in and I mean ALL LOL - a very strange world.................
I have a lot of the signs listed already such as loose teeth, school friends, and the house I grew up in.
Also:
Airplanes: Flying in one that is too close to the ground and the pilot is weaving between trees and hills as if it's normal.
Car brakes don't work or just barely work. Usually, I'm at an intersection and the car creeps slowly forward regardless of how hard I push the pedal.
I can't find my car.
Elevators: After getting in one and beginning to go up, it begins to wobble, tilt sideways and shake. I always get out safely.
Doors that don't close or lock properly but look like they are...
Germany: I'm traveling to and from Germany in my dreams many times.
Hotels: I don't remember my room number.
6
I donn't think that number 3 on your list is a dream sign. I mean every one is naked in atlest one dream. I know that you know more than me but I think that a dream sign is one that you have in a lot of dreams that not a lot of people have. In my dream it is a green car.Quote:

1) Penguins (very random.....)
2) Being in Video games (less random)
my cell phone I look at it or try using it and its all fucked up then I know im dreaming.
If only I could use it ever time id Dream id get more Lucid's.
My Dream Signs are:
1. Trains
2. Zombies or Vampires
3. My watch saying something completely different than the time.
4. Old Friends
5. Grocery Stores (I'm always in grocery stores for some reason.... no clue why)
-Daniel
My most recent appearing dream sign is my twin. I have a twin in my dreams. he disappears after i notice him. Although I have many other dream signs this one seems to be common to me write now.
My most consistent dream sign is when the hot girl is interested in me. Doesn't happen in real life. Only been single about 2 months now after ten years married, but even before that, never happened in real life. First time I went lucid, I dreamt I was at a party, I was going to go to bed because I had work in the AM, the hot girl at the party said she wanted me to stay, I thought "I must be dreaming. Well, I won't get a hangover" and went back to the party.
Well, about a month ago, I decided I'd stop flipping people off (I'm religious).
I always, I mean ALWAYS flip people off in my dream, one time I did it and I said oh shit theres my dream sign, am I dreaming? I decided I wasn't dreaming, even though I was :(.
Realizing I'm naked.
A lot of times I'll be driving, I'm 14 so I'm not old enough to drive.
I have the usual ones like teeth falling out and not being able to run, along with:
1. rollercoasters, usually enjoying riding them since I hate them in real life, or lying under them watching the cars zoom by.
2. being back in high school or college even though I know I had graduated but still felt I should be back there,
a. also (college) at the end of the semester I realize I was enrolled in a class that I never went to, usually math or art, and showed up on the last day completely lost at what was going on.
3. being at my grandparents house and finding a secret trapdoor or room
4. I was in marching band in HS (flagline), I dream of being back on the field suddenly in a competition with no idea of the routine.
5. I always randomly dream of people I once barely knew (like someone in school that I was not even friends with or anything) and it drives me crazy wondering why I dreamt of them....I have to pull out my yearbooks and see if they really looked like they did in my dream!!!!
6. If I know who someone is in my dream, they rarely stay that person, usually become someone else I know or don't know, and the other night my friend Gus turned into Fat Albert and scared the begezzus outta me.
7. Having long hair
8. Elevators, usually in a hotel of some sort, and they always go somewhere weird or not where I want them to go.
My only dreamsign that I have noticed is flying through "psychedelic" tunnels/tubes/vortex/tornado etc.
I have a few dream signs...
One that ocurrs very, very often is water, in any shape or form whether it be as an ocean (on it, in it, or next to it) or even in a glass. My guess is that this a result of the strong pisces presence in my natal chart.
Another frequently recurring sign is tornadoes. Not as often as water, but I would say every few weeks or so I have a dream about one or more tornadoes. I'm not always scared of them, sometimes I am just passive observer. I can't really make a guess about this sign, other than that I was terrified of them when I was little but still watched the Wizard of Oz all the time lol
One of the weirdest and scariest signs, by far, is starting to scream in a dream and realizing i've lost the ability to do it. I usually wake up in a panic attack when that happens.
Some other signs are the settings such as on stage in a play (either doing really well or having no clue what is going on) or in a very large building such as a school or mall. I have very few dreams that occur in small, closed in spaces, yet they are never outside.
1) my feet not wanting to work and i end up moving really slowly
2) i always have dreams where i'm trying to find my shoes but can't
My dream sign is running, that is change in very very fast running, and than in flaying.
Than old friends who are in different colours an shapes.
Wow, going through all these pages just gave me flash backs from previous dreams. Dream signs that I have had :
* Being Back in middle school " early 1990's " running out trying not to miss my bus home. Kinda funny last night I had this same dream, although I walked past the bus Id always ran to and got in my car lol
* I have this town / city I " always " am in. Its made up of a combination of places Ive grown up and have visted.
* Same deal with always seeing people that I used to go to school with.
Wow! It's kinda freaky to read that ppl have the same recuring signs that I also posses. I guess that it's a common thing on a human psyche, and there are other things like universal reality test that work with most peole, but it's still funky for me. But then again, I am a beginner =)Quote:

Like many others, my primary school and people from it are one of my main dream signs. But the one that's triggered a couple of my few ever lucids is an emotional dreamsign. I often seem to get in some sort of trouble - frequently legal (theft, etc.) when i'm in my dreams, so i naturally experience a specific emotion which is a combination of fear and guilt. This fear and guilt i've never truly experienced in real life (having committed no significant moral offences), so it's reeeally dream-specific for me. So once or twice, whilst being chased by the police, i recognise the fear (hey, the only time i feel like this always turns out to be....), and i'd usually wake up and feel a strong sense of relief. But instead, sometimes i anticipate the relief early, and realise that i must be dreaming. Voila, showtime. I have other dreamsigns (an old house, etc.), but the emotional sign (fear, followed by relief) is my most effective.
I recently found a dream sign, but it's kind of odd because I don't experience it in my waking life very often: large, open buildings (being inside them). Also, I think I'd consider fear a dream sign as well, but again I don't experience that kind of fear IRL for the most part.

I don't have many recurring dream signs that I've found yet, but my favorite band is Evanescence, and about five times now I've had dreams that I met them or that had to do with the lead singer, Amy Lee. Once I dreamed I was in the band.
None of this has triggered any LDs yet. I've only had one LD that I remember, and the only reason I can see that I might have known I was dreaming is that it was a really stupid dream and absolutely nothing that happened would really ever happen. I couldn't control it though. If I could I have several ideas for what I would have done. *evil laugh*
Maybe I should start doing an RC when I hear Ev. Which would be now!
The only 2 I can see so far is
A tropical Island where I vacationed once.
A African Guy who I have not seen in years.
a dreamsign of mine, now that i think of it, is wanting a change of clothes of some sort, and then instantly having it.
like i think: damn i wish i had my swim suit... then bam, i have it on.
or: where are my pants? then i instantly have pants on...
My dreamsign is a er..waterpark. I love waterparks but they are always so evil in my dreams for some reason. Someone always ends up hitting their head on a diving board then dying or going to the local waterpark courthouse...... My old dream sign was tarantula but that stopped when I was about 8.
Extremely hugely big gigantic bounds... Usually only one or two...
I can't think of anything specific that I see often that tells me that I'm dreaming. I haven't become lucid without losing the dream and everything else but I'll let you know when I find out what it is.
I'm a n00b but figured I'd throw in my dream signs, or dream "cues" as I call them:
1. Seeing people from schools that I used to go to, or being at the actual schools
2. Seeing a particular friend of mine - annoying because I actually see him fairly regularly anyway, so that makes it difficult
***3. My favourite - having super powers! :D I'll be flying around firing energy bolts/balls and dodging in impossible ways. Nice. Also just having heightened abilities in general - like being able to run faster than usual, jump higher and further than usual, that type of thing.
4. [Running] Water e.g. from a tap/faucet, river, waterfall...doesn't come up often though, and I have to actually touch it to gain lucidity.
5. Seeing a specific event within the dream in Slow Motion. This is a new one thats happened a couple times in the past week or so.
And finally...
Any other discrepensy that may present itself. My mind seems to enjoy changing the rules in the middle of the game, so it's hard to keep up a lot of the time.
My recurring dream signs are:
1) My family (mom, dad or baby sister). They often appear in my dreams but it's hard to do reality checks when they live in another state. I guess I could look at their pictures occasionally and do an RC. :)
2) My dogs.
there is no consistent dreamsign which triggers lucidity for me. When I become lucid, I don't always know how I got there. Sometimes it'll be a strange place or people, other times a reality check. But, sometimes I just know. One thing which often happens in dreams is that I'm in a large and very weird supermarket/department store, but this has never triggered an LD. Perhaps it will tonight!
So far clocks that are not normal. Digital clocks get blurry and an analog clock has had the numbers in the wrong position. I find myself at work a lot and this should trigger a LD because I am not working.
a dream sign of mine was the falling out of my teeth. it feels so real. however, once i started to notice this and was able to use it to induce a lucid dreams it has stopped happening. weird.
A couple of mine i think:
Somebody else or me dying
Cars, usually in a crash
Some elements from video games
w00t I finally found mine!!! :D My dreamsign is my old school.
In dreams I am sometimes nude in public. Sometimes just from the waist down or I might just be wearing underwear.
Another recurring dream is that I'm back in school and I'm worried because I've been completely neglecting a math class.
A newly developed dreamsign for me...
False awakening after (lucid) sex, or, sometimes the false awakening comes before I do, which is unfortunate. But now that I know this, I can just re-enter the "love room" when I have a FA (Note: the "love room" is my white room that I enter through any doorway after I become lucid. It has a big bed with white sheets, on which the lucky lady of my choice (usually a supressed crush) is poised au natural). Oh, wait. I've been wanting to further my spiritual developement in dreams. Why can I only think of sex when I become lucid?! No sex, only meditate. Om ma ni pad me hum. Well, at least I wake up happy. Who needs spiritual clairity anyway? :D But really, someone spur me on. Leo?? gimme a kick here m8. ;)
My dream sign is something or someone involved with my high school. Either my dreams take place in my school, near it, or someone I know from school is in my dream.
I used to have one that whenever I tried to run in a dream I wouldn't be able to move faster then walking speed I would just lean forward really far and my legs would move like they were in a really thick substance. But I haven't had any like that for about a year now. Nowadays my dreamsign is cute girls I've never met paying attention to me and getting close to me even though I'm not doing anything interesting. Especially when I'm laying down they dangle their hair over my face while staring into my eyes. In real life girls I don't know glance at me then move on lol.
I have the lack of realistic speed too. I cant remeber having expeirenced any LD's but upon reflection of dreams I have noticed that I have a dream that reoccures once every few months that when I punch it goes really slow and my fist just kinda pats whatever I try to hit. Or I disegrate whatever I touch.
previous homes
weed, being high
old friends
Usually I'm haunted by reoccurring settings of grocery stores. Most commonly Safeway, but I've also been plagued by Trader Joe's, Bell Market and a few other independently owned stores. They're so depressing, yet I would say 50 percent of my dreams occur in them.
All the more reason to become lucid and walk straight out the front door.

ROLF! i have had this reoccuring grocery store theme in the past aswell. thats hilarious!
plagued by trader joes hahahaha amazing. did u get robbed at the store or something
Most frequent dream signs: the color light blue, things that are grouped in three. I have not LD'd lately because it's tough to identify these two things (since it is not specific, and takes many forms). The police, school campuses, people and places from the past are the best things I should look for. Also too much family in my dreams should be an indication.
There are two dream signs that almost always make me lucid.
1. Having a bunch of males, packed way too close together.
2. Having a lot of females, clustered together, usually topless.
Recurring themes: Running away out of fear/panic, violence, especially doing something violent then running from it. Also making other people happy in my dreams. When I LD, I need to overcome these.
Theres is one thing that always seems consistent in all my dream, places are never the same. for example i walked out of maths once an instead of the usual outside pathways of the shool there was a large valley, mountains an a red sky. Or up by a church near me instead of the regular streen next to it theres a small cliff an lots of steep, low hills an plants.
The changes usually carry over to when i dream abou that place again. strange.. then agen it is a dream i spose
mine are people of the OC showing up as DC's and drugs
If I can turn back time, then I know I'm dreaming. I just figured this out last night too! The pattern I noticed when I look back on my dream journal is that most of the time when I'm turning back the clock in my dreams it leads to me becoming lucid. I'm so happy because I never really had a dream sign before!
I don't have any recent clear recalls of dreams, so I've just started to use a journal and am going to try out some techniques suggested by people here. However I do have some signs that seem to occur often.
- I want to run, because I'm afraid, but it seems like I'm moving through water, really thick water :) making it nearly impossible.
- I lose the abiliy to speak. Also happens mostly in distress situations.
- It seems like I'm in some sort of game, where I have to walk through places. Also this is feeling rather negative than positive.
I just had the last one this night just before I got out of bed. I didn't have a pen and paper at hand so I only remembered some weird stuff.
from the journal:
"game with my life on stake
barriers
pointing mouse on screen to move around"
the last one might be a sign too, because I might have felt similar experiences before.
I think a better description would be to say that I move(actually I can only remember actively turning in this way, not moving) myself in third person. But I'm sure it wasn't a lucid dream.
Can't think of anything else.
Vivid Purple & Yellow Skies
Intense Purple
Broken devices digital watches, TV's, Vcr's, computers.
When I'm stressed or worried, Teeth falling out, or loosing a tooth, & Elevators fallings, or shaking and dropping. I've started to reality check almost everytime I get in one now. these dreams/nighmares I have a hard time controling.
Gravity Checks, see if I can fly or jump really high.
Goth girl at the Diner. "This one I haven't figure out yet, it's nobody I know, and even though I kind of like "Goth girls" I'm not really into that scene. But this girl, we seem to know each other like we have been friends forever." We can talk to each other without even speaking. Her makeup is white, with "Purple/DS" eye shadow along with her very black hair. She's wears a very nice gothic style dress as though she came from a special event, This dream sign for me is very rare, but does happen...
Here a few of my dream signs:
-Knives that don't cut or stab. (That sounds a little odd, doesn't it? But I tend to have frequently violent dreams. :o )
-Being in one of my old houses or schools.
-An old friend moving to where I live now.
-My dad or siblings showing no concern for my well-being.
-One of my old, vindictive teachers appearing.
-Arriving at school without a backpack. (This has actually happened in real life, believe it or not. I just pretended it was all part of a plan nobody understood yet. )
Of course, I've yet to realize dream signs within a dream. I'll get there, though.
My dream signs...um.....
questing myself....
poking my finger through my left hand...
breathing with my fingers holding my nose.
that's about it....
oh yeah....and just questining my surrondings. :P
My most reliable dream sign is being in my grandparent's backyard. I have a dream there about once a week, and I don't know why.
Also, finding myself in my high school. I have one of those dreams about once every two weeks.
Performing gravity-defying acrobatics like jumping really far or doing flips.
Running slower than I should be.
Brightly colored rocks on a beach or next to a river. I have no clue why I have so many dreams about this.
Breathing underwater.
When I act like a fool or do something weird or violent in public that I never would.
Not to be picky, but those are reality checks, not dream signs.Quote:

He he he...Quote:

My dream signs are
- usually me (as third person) doing something
- teeth falling out, or wriggling them or feeling with my tongue
- flying
- parents house either in the garden or inside one of the rooms
well... cause usually i remember dreams once a month, i don't have many but i did remember a dream last night and... i suppose the dream sign would be my firends mother... or... anyone speaking to me extreamly rudly and threatining to leave the province. unfortunatly for me... i didn't realise it and i didn't become lucid!
WASP - anytime I see a bee or wasp I do a reality check. I have allergic reactions to bee stings so the fear of them has been in my sub-conscious mind for a long time.....and of course, since I fear them, wasps enter my dream world alot.....I chose this dream sign for my avatar. That will be one more RC everytime I see it!
I havent properly LDd yet but in most of my dreams I see my friends or am in a random house and see random girls I have seen about
Well, i recently discovered this BIG dream sign of mine that is that in my dreams im always in strange and invented places, so when ever i don't recognize the place i know im dreaming.
And also i have sex with unknown chiks, well actually having sex should be a dream sign for me.. :?
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(\\\"Dagaz\\\")</div>Ehe, yeah, that would be a sign for me too (then again, its sex with guys, me being female and all).Quote:

Well, mine are:
* Talking Fox that discusses Philosophy with me
* Bleeding from the eyes
* Running REALLY slow
* Water in odd places (I'll be in school and there will be a lake outside)
I have some odd dream signs.......
being in school
Well let me think...
-If i jump a little but dont come down(Gliding/Flying).
-Jumping Kind of High then questioning myself then Jumping Really High.
-Being In my Old Neighborhood.
-Tall Swaying Trees.
-Cars that dont work or just sit there.
-Running but feel like i keep tripping or cant run right.
-Waking up in my room but then realizing i didnt fall asleep in my room.
-People doing strange things.
-Noticing im just standing still and nothing is moving.
-Im standing still and nothing seems to notice me.
-Breathing underwater or being in a bubble all the sudden when i go into deep water.
-Doing soemthing that I shouldnt have done in public but there is no consequence to it.
got more just cant think of them.
Mine are:
- Being in some kind of conflict, either winning effortlessly or loosing really bad
- Lightsabers
- Being in a HUGE indoor room
- Someone threatens my sister
- Something is wrong with the light (color, a reflection that should not be there, etc.)
Not much luck in exploiting them yet, though. :|
my dream signs are ---
-spinning or watching someone spin (i think thats because im not very good at staying lucid so i think about it)
-and rollercosters
i think its really anything with a strange motion
Of the few LD's that I can recall there is something that happens in the dream that causes me to become angry or scared and this causes me to be lucid.
I have tried spinning and it always woke me up.
Then i would suggest to not spin and rub your hands together really fast it works every time and the dream becomes much more vivid also.
someone should add this entire thread to a sticky
Music. Usually from the '80's or '90's.
Well, once in one of my dreams the street was half covered in snow and half not... another was when this one nacklace of mine looked different.... I donn't have any consistent signs.
I never seem to have any recurring dreamsigns. My dreams are just absolutely random. In fact, they usually don't even relate to anything that has happened recently.
It sucks!
I have noticed Car Accidents and these two or three unkown people who are my 'friends'.
The only thing that has caused me to go Lucid was someone mentioning about
"being in this dream".
Otherwise the most common reccurence for me is strange technologies we do
not normally see in this reality. (Normally, bah! Most of the things I've seen. I've not
seen in movies...)
Items I have had the pleasure of experiencing:
Giant Helicopters (big enough to walk around in the baggage area..)
I think it was russian (It was red!)
Suits that look like Hockey Armor, that make you fly!
Space Cruisers (Like a cruise ship, but in space. The starfields are AW_SOME!!!)
Roll Back trucks with their own Bowling Ball Storage
Twentieth Century Homes on giant Lazy suzans. (Like in a park, on display...like for
a museum or something...)
Automatic doors in a shopping mall that come out of the floor
Time Travelers (waiting in line)
And several other things I cannot remember (without going and reading my journal)

I think my most common dream sign, which I never seem to catch, is running on all fours like a monkey. Left foot, right foot, left hand, right hand; it's always the same. It seems a little odd, but then it feels like I'm just remembering how to run that way again, and it's always fast; like 60-70 miles per hour!
Trying to run on just my feet in a dream always fails, and I'm usualy too anxious at that point to see it for a dream sign. Some others are showing up at a school I used to attend, only to find I can't remember which class I'm supposed to go to, strange aircraft filling the sky, my teeth crumbling and falling out as I uncontrolably clench my jaw (I hate that one, I can seriously feel it), walking into huge public restrooms with a wide array of toilet styles scattered everywhere, and driving somewhere and suddenly finding myself walking instead.
Unfortunately, I'm still not very good at catching any of them as they happen; I usualy just gain lucidity spontainiously, but not nearly often enough for my liking.
my dreams often involve me and my friends ....only they act differently to how they would in real life.take one of my friends for eg : shy,polite,trustworthy...yet in my dream he is quite angry, forceful, and rude.
my most common dream sign would have to be my bf.hes really sweet and caring in real life...always listens etc..,yet in my dreams he ignores me,argues with me and kisses other men..haha !!!
I found my new dream sign its this crazy looking fellow. He has a shadow face a yellow tux and well picture the mask but with a a shadow face and that is him. Whenever i see him im like hey im dreaming who would have think it
Arrgh!
I just woke up from a dream containing one of those dream signs that I JUST MENTIONED!! And I didn't catch it! I even thought to myself, as I looked around the newly rennovated restroom, "hey, this reminds me of the restrooms in my dreams!" I then proceeded to slide around the floor as if the rubberized surface SHOULD be frictionless. What a pain... :shakehead2:
I don’t know why but in my dreams I can still think (but not talk that wakes me up) and if I think anything (and I mean ANYTHING) it happens
that was how I got my 1st lucid dream...
and my last at the moment....
hay I just thought perhaps I go lucid every night but just don’t notice it…
mine has always been the same, flames. anything and everthing has a arora or is surrounded by flames but never seem to get burned or even hot. another on is pyramids. and usualy when i see a pyramid and go lucid, the very next thing i do i run up it and jump. the dream unfolds from there with me being in total control. i love it when that happens.
Mirrors, lots of water, My grandparents house, being in third person
Is your birthdate near the Month of March. My Druic animal is the fox. I found out some people have dreams of a animals such as my father. He had dreams of owls. Then I found out that was his Druic animal. :shock:Quote:

My Dream Sign is a lack of a dreamsign. :shakehead2:
It seems that lately I don't become lucid in spite of the obvious. ie: being somewhere I am not supposed to be (space, jungle) or being someone I am not.
I'm not worried just yet, I've been Lucid before, I'll be once again.
Looking at furniture somehow grounds me.
 :!:
I don't realy have one spicific dream sign, I will notice some random and wird thing. Unfortunetly I have yet to become lucid off any of them yet.
Lost time
And alcohol and drugs.
I don't drink or do drugs of any sort. I'm rather proud of my ability to relax and have fun without them. But while younger I succumbed to peer pressure of course and found none of them very pleasent. I was increasingly uncomfortable around people who would persistently offer them to me, and I was worried that someday I would "try again" just to appease so-called friends or associates and end up in some dire circumstance.
So, whenever I appear to lose time in a dream, or when it appears that I can't remember something, the dream tends to attribute this loss of memory to getting severely inebriated. Both are dream signs.
i have the same thing as ex nine, except for some reason whenever alcohol or drugs are involved i never feel them. It's pretty cool.
I also noticed that I take out my wallet a lot in my dreams, which is always why i have more or less money than I think I have.
I'm not sure If this is relevant but I have only had one lucid and there was a second man (or woman) who was like a shadow, I couldnt make out any features, except that he was a person. Could this be a dream sign?
most of my dream sign is a man, sometimes water in the form of ocean, sea,
A few of my dream signs:
Meeting old school friends. This is one of the most common dream signs for me. Sometimes they look very different in my dream, but I can feel who they are. It has been 5 years since I met most of them in real life and I don't think I had a "special connection" with them. Very strange that I still dream of them so often.
Waiting for a train. Trainstations or railroads in general. Very common theme and in many variations. I often cross railroads or try to run away from an approaching train, I never got hit so far and it doesn't feel dangerous. :D In dreams where I am able to enter a train I will almost immediately become lucid. It is like I am stepping out of my normal dream, into the train to lucidity. Sadly, I also wake up at this point and can only enjoy it for a few seconds at most.
Very large (mysterious) houses. With narrow hallways, dark cellars, destroyed rooms and very strange layouts / geometry. I often get lost in them and I desperately try to find an exit but I cannot remember a dream, where I was able to actually find one. :?
I am sure there are more dream signs for me, but those 3 are the most common ones and also the signs I am trying to work with now. I will concentrate on them, especially the one where I am entering the train.
I just wanted to make sure we were all talking about the same thing. I thought that a functional dream sign would be something highly improbably (if not impossible) to occur in waking life.
For example: If you have no mirrors anywhere in your life - yeah, maybe.
No men anywhere in your life?
No trains anywhere in your life?
These don't seem to me like they would be all that effective. How do they work for you?
you can't expect impossible things to happen reliably in all your dreams. More often than not my dreams are entirely possible, or the impossible bits are always different. On the other hand, I've had lots of success reality checking every time a common, non-impossible, dream sign comes up in RL. For example, I've had 2 LDs because I always reality check when I see police cruisers.
It is highly improbable that I meet certain men in my life. My old school friends live more then 500km away from me and I haven't seen them in years. In my dreams I even think: "Hey, what are you doing here? i would've NEVER expected to meet you". That's why I think this should work as a dream sign. I want to condition myself to do a reality check when I see them, and since I only see them in my dreams the reality check should always bring a negative result and thus, make me lucid? Maybe I am wrong?Quote:

Same thing with trains, if I condition myself to do a reality check everytime I enter a train, this will probably make me lucid sooner or later.
My idea is, that I use signs / themes that occur very often (either in my dreams or in waking life), not signs that are highly improbable (as in unrealistic). Very unrealistic themes often suck me into the dream state even more, they distract me from concentrating on becoming lucid. At least that's the feeling I get, please correct me if I am wrong. I am thankful for every advise.
EDIT (another thought):
Concerning the train theme (especially boarding them). I remember that I read somewhere (I think it was the german site www.oobe.ch), that trains / cars and traveling in general are a sign that you travel from one dream state (sphere, dimension, whatever you want to call it) to another one. Large doors and long hallways also serve the same purpose if I remember correctly. To stay on topic: I think you could describe it as naturally induced dream signs, that your mind is using as a visual (dream-sphere) gateway.
hopping around. i get to a point where im taking huge hops and decide to just try and glide for as long as possible. so i end up just floating over the ground instead of walking
Discepincies in gravity.
Third person perspective on things.
Seeing peoples outlines no their bodys.
Unusually large hands.
1) Me out on my dock fishing
2) my alarm clock
3) my moms old office building
My dream sign is always a forest. I think it's weird.
i dont have any..like some people here tho i virtually always have someone who went to my school or goes to my college in my dreams...but never consistently the same person and it can be pretty random as to who appears in my dreams.
