I've known about this site for a long time, before there was a forum. and when I saw it had a phpBB forum..... :D
Hey, good thread idea. The majority of people will likely come through Google, because we're listed right on the first page of results for "lucid dreaming" (#10--right at the bottom--but we're still on the first page!) I am curious as to other places people are linking to the site from.
Others?
As for me, the little green gnomes told me about this place. (?)
For me you #5
and googles how i found this site. Do you make any money? You should put up adds and get $$$

how i learned about lucid dreaming... i was in economics class when this kid was talking about how he had a dream that was soooo vivid. he said that in the dream he shot up heroine, and the feeling he got when he shot up was unexplainable. -- the teacher overheard and asked if he could control the shooting up, he said no. then the teacher started talking about lucid dreams and how they got him through highschool... he revieled that they started to mess with his head in college, he couldnt tell reality from dream world so he kept getting paranoid. sorry to say he quit. i wanted to know more about it so i did a search on yahoo. yea thats right, yahoo. and found this site. i've been in training ever since thanksgiving and i have to say i remember so much more, and its all getting more and more vivid with each day. :happyme:
p.s. google sucks, yahoo RULES! :finger:

whoa, your teacher kicks ass!
yeah, but google owns you!
I had an EXTREMELY frightening experience almost just like this, with heroin and everything. I woke up with a craving for a drug I'd never done before. It was one of the worst (and most interesting, though most frightening) dream experiences I'd ever had.Quote:

I remember having a dream where I raided the bawls factory with a g36c...
Yeah...
Not me! I found it from a link on "howstuffworks.com" (brilliant website btw) was reading up on ESP or OBE I think, and at the end it had a bunch of links, including this one :)
w00t
... you raided the bawls factory? That's possibly the strangest one I've ever heard. XDQuote:

Yeah...
One more vote for Google. :)
I did a search on "controlling your dreams" and saw the term lucid dreaming and I figured that had to be what I was looking for. :)
Sure enough it was!
Damone
I heard alot about lucid dreaming from my uncle so I decided to look into this phenomenon... so I hoped on google and found this place. :D
Much better: msn.com
I don't know how I first learnt about lucid dreaming, but I first came to DreamViews about 2 years ago, as a wee little child. Now, a renewed interest and motivation are upon me, and the forum is now here. A quick search for "lucid dreaming" via MSN, 1st choice, read around the page again, "good to be back" feeling, and finally found the forum.
Whoa, how 'bout that? I just checked myself and we are indeed the number one on MSN for "lucid dreaming" as a quoted literal AND as two individual words. neat.Quote:

We should of just used excessive <META> tags and wrote "lucid dreaming" in every other post.
Without google, we wouldn\'t have Yahoo. And without Yahoo, we wouldn\'t have a happy lowercase. And without a happy lowercase, the world would fall apart. So make sure google stays. Um, yeah. And do you have a maginfying glass handy?
Around XMas time I had a vivid memory of my dreams. I felt the urge to read up about dreams cuz a while back I had a mild curiosity about flying in dreams. I thought I did it before because I remember lifiting off an office chair with several others. I looked online and found techniques and sites.
I found dreamviews.com from GOOGLE and found my way to the forum. I started to read peoples messages and got more interested. Then I created an account and I am on the board.
I looked at flying as being a big thing, before. I always wanted to be able to fly in my dream and I heard about it before and it sounded really COOL!!!!! Well, I had my first lucid dream about a week ago. I flew!!!! I was controlling it. Now there is alot more things to experiement with and learn. Ive just hit the tip of the iceberg.
Go DreamViews!!!!!!
Yup. googling for me too!
Got linked here from howstuffworks.com
hell yah.Quote:

I joined the Lucidity institute and this forum is so much better. I think I only posted two messages on their forum, compared to over 100 on this one. DREAMVIEWS ROCKS :!:
This forum is very personal, i love it so much. Pretty much everyone here meets you with a smile, and not a fake one most of the time.Quote:

Found This web site though "Howstuffworks.com". I was reading about how sleep works and was linked to this site when they went over dreams. By the way "howstuffworks.com" is awesome and everyone should check it out if they havent already!!!!
Peace.... Dream on!!!!!!! :D
That's what linked me over here too...
Howstuffworks.com rocks and is one of the best and most complete websites I have seen...
I am really thankfull for it, if not I would have never learned what lucid dreaming was, and would have never visited this website...
In fact, since I found this place I haven't visited that page again, I rather my time in here...
well, it all started when i saw a episode of "Ed" where he wanted to have a lucid dream to deal with a problem, so i got interested and searched the web and here i am!
I got here from howstuffworks.com also!
I found it through HowStuffWorks too!
A friend recommended this site to me.
I used to have a book on how, well, stuff, worked. It went on about everything I ever wanted to know, escalators and whatever.
i used to have these freakishly wierd dreams. i would become paralyzed. it was really freaky. sometimes there would be aliens and the devil at the foot of my bed. i told my dad about them and he said to remember that its just a dream. then he went on to some rambling garbage about this and that. he then said something about lucid dreaming. i'm not proud of it, but i found it on google searching: lucid dreaming.
Hey welcome to the forums!!!
Glad you found us. Hope you have a lucid dream soon. They are well worth the trouble.
I Googled "lucid dreaming" string with must contain "amazing" and "experience". I think anyone that hasn't experienced it is missing out big time!
hehehehe
Why would anyone choose that avatar?
You got some balls lil boi (that or you are one perversed freak)...
I had a dream about a forum!
The next day the forum i used to go on was shut down!!!
then i searched and i found this forum!
Pretty coincidental...
i had a dream that someone was explaining to me techniques in a kind of chat...
like the adoption thing sorta..
my last forum never did that!
That is why we rock...
P.S The dream could have been some sort of precog dream...or a mere coincidence
I think you didn't search for it. You came from that forum recommending you came here, didn't you?
My friend vertical horizon told me about this site.
i am intrested and would like to learn more, this site is a good start for me
arrg.. dammit. Voted wrongly.
I misread the one about seeing it in your dreams
My real vote is that I saw it on a different, dying forum.
Theres another bigger LDing forum called LD4All.... but its not as friendly :)
We have visitors from there on occasion.Quote:

I found this site doing a casual google of LDing
I picked "other" because I was searching for "controlling dreams" in google. This was the first site I clicked on, and I haven't searched again since. :)
yeah in the beginning my first search was for 'controlling dreams' in google, i knew there must have been somthing on it and it was the first year i really got to using the net.
a whole 4 years ago...
Hello im new to all this computer malarky so bear with me.
I found this site thru google, but i was searching specificly for dream related sites to explain my dreams and to possibly enlighten myself more on the subject as ive had some dodgey stuff (not understood) happen in my sleep. speak to you all soon i hope.
Daniel

How I found it was odd....I was looking at a summary of some episode of angel....They had a link to a site where it told what the different dreams things mean...then somewhere on there I saw Lucid dreaming.....It might of had the link on the site of I might of googled it. XD
I googled lucid and this place came up.
hello
i found it by google also
i'm glad there is some where that i can seriously discuss LD with people
i've talked to many people about it and most all of them have never had a LD i don't think they know what it is because if you have one you'll definetly know it and i've never talked to any one with controll.
i imagine that all serious LDers will make it to this site any the others will be weeded out.
Thanks
Hurlo
Really weirdly (answering title)
I had this sudden urge to type "Controlling dreams" into Google. When I was young someone told me it was possible...
Maybe it was fate!

I read about it first in a site about lucid dreaming and then a google turned this site up.
Someone from another message board recommended it during a discussion on lucid dreaming.
I saw Waking Life and it made me want to know more. If you havnt seen it go and watch it. It is brilliant
cool...its nice to see that movie is having this effect on many people. It's great to have such a brilliant film be a medium to teaching people about the art of LDing.
I found this on howstuffworks.com as I saw at least one other person mentioned. I was looking up sleep because I'm at work and stinking tired after going to bed late last night. No google search for me. Oh, and this was the first time I'd heard about Lucid dreaming. I've experienced it, but I didn't know there was a precise term for it. :!:
same hereQuote:

How i found it? Google. Why I looked? Well I had a teacher in english who was big into dreaming and such. He mentioned lucid dreaming, and explained it.. Everyone in the class thought he was crazy (and most of the time he was).. but this time i knew he was not, for I had lucid dreams years back (i called them flying dreams.. but the difference between most people's and mine, was that i controlled them, nightmares too).
So, my longing to LD once more, led me on a research binge, where I fell on these forums.. I've read up many places, but this is the only place I can actually get answers and experiances.
Thanks everyone. I got my ability back.
i found my way to this site simply because...i had a dream last night that i could've taken control of but i didn't and i wanted to know how to...mostly because i enjoy having sex in the dream state. Go figure.
I was directed to this sight by someone on another forum.
Just so you know, it's not a "sight"...its a "site"
That has kind of become a pet peeve of mine...
well thanks for the welcom
You are more than welcome
other
found link on other forum.
My friends asked me if I knew about Lucid dreaming and i was like what thehell is that? HJe sent me this link i followed. Then i read up and told him i have them all the time! So it was by chance! :D :D :D :D :D
Hello, I am new here. I found via the ld4all forum.
I found a link to dreamviews in another forum. I only take quick look if there aren't some messages for me and want to go out to Google in case for searching of Lusid dreams :) But I found a link in one of post about OBE... :bliss:
That's nice way to safe my time
me's a google nerd too
Some guy in Sonc-Cult told me about it....
Hi SDC! I'm glad you came, its me, DrP, the one who told you about it, why dont you go on #cult anymore? oh, with SCARZ being sold, the new URL is http://ghettonet.biz/scarz It sucks that PACHUKA sold it, but at least the comunity can stay together.
I was just interested about controlling your dreams one day. After googling for that I was lead here. I've recommended this site to many others too... :)
stumbled onto this while searching for things on meditation wich led to reading about NDE's, (and how to put a rabbit into a tracelike state)
OBE's and LD. then i started reading about OBE's (mostly) and got intrested in LD (and explanations saying everything about nothing)
so i signed up to 1.) find out a bit more about what to belief
and 2.) experience it myself
or maybe 3.) find my own reasonable answers (reasonable to me)
i'm not a sceptic but neither am i a believer, i'd like to keep an open mind but there is soooo much garbage out there that it's hard to keep a clear head.
(ps= plz dont mind any typos my english is far from perfect)
I discoverd the link while researching Waking Life.

Hi Truthbearer, mm yes Padfoot is an unique individual lol.
I wonder when he has the right age if he will return!
Actually, we just discovered about a week ago that he came back using a different identity...I have no idea why but I decided to check some IP addresses to make sure it wasn't just some sort of mod prank or something. That's when I found the disturbing truth....Anyway, have you seen him around your board lately?
Yeo google search as well.
Dedicated member of DV i am :P
i was being a google nerd and what do you know... there's another growing forum about lucid dreams!
I found this place through a link at another board. It sounded really interesting, and I wanted to have some LD's of my own, so I couldn't resist.
<---Google Nerd & howstuffworks.com 8) :P
Truthbearer, we are not totally sure.
There has been a guy that called himself padfoot around the same time at Ld4all, but he couldnt use his old account and also used a different ip. So it could be him but we are not absolutely sure about it :)
Hi all!
While gathering information on lucid dreaming I found the link on Wikipedia.org.
My friend saw a link to here in a forum on www.DDRUK.com and told me about it.
i was searching 'reality testing lucid dreaming' on google to find a quick definition to help out a friend. she has been having nightmares and i thought that lucid dreaming could help her out.
and lo!
the search revealed this page. one that i had not discovered yet.
I come from "klartraum.ch", its quite a cool site if you speak german.
Howdy everyone
I saw a link on Howstuffworks.com. Browsing around the site I am happy I found dreamviews.com. I
i found this by reading on sleeping at howstuffworks.com then i saw there was a forum and i could access it from school... which made me happy for it once again gave me a way to communicate with friends that are a t home.... MWHAHAHAHA i love doing things like this....
I had no clue about lucid dreaming really, but after describing my dreams on dreammoods.com forums, they suggested coming here.
From www.howstuffworks.com
lol.. i know... im a total geek.
I think... I'm going to go catch some delta waves now.. lol... and hopefully some lucid dreaming! (I still need to read a little further on it though)
Have a great night everyone!
HowStuffWorks.com
More specifically, http://health.howstuffworks.com/sleep7.htm
Glad I found it too. 8)
Google search for controlling dreams.
And when i found this site, there was no forum, it was 2 years ago.
I started noticing lots of hits from this forum to my website and tracked the links back to your tutorials and other places on the forum. My site is now linked to dreamviews in many places.
After talking with my history teacher about lucid dreaming, I googled it and found my way here. And may I just say that keeping a dream journal can be quite a chore.
New here (obviously) Found your site while doing some re(search) on lucidity. Always had very vivid nocturnal journeys, and for as long as I can remember have been aware when I'm dreaming that It is a dream. I just have never been able to control the direction or timbre. I'm here looking for the key. Looks like a great forum. Looking forward to someones insight
It was like the second or third link that came up when searching "Lucid dreaming" on google...
For some reason I went straight here instead of checking the first couple...
Yeah cause we're attractive like that.
I was searching Lucid Dreaming on GOOGLE! Pretty cool website. I also like the pictures that go along with each section, who did the art work?
Oddly enough it was from googling a completely off the subject topic that just so happened to be mentioned in another portion of these boards.. noticing the subject of the boards though is what drew me in.
hehe, I'm just wondering what off the topic subject were you looking at, if you don't mind me asking?Quote:

I was told about this site by someone on another chat by the name of placibo after telling him about my first lucid dream (last night) :P
Google search for Lucid Dreaming
Hello!!! Actually I use another forum quite frequently and there were lots of new names and then they left. They all missed their home very much and I thought I'd come take a peak.
Very Nice!!! :okbyenow:
Google Search on lucid dreaminmg :D
Google is the clear winner :D
GOOGLE! GOOGLE!
I was reading an article about dreaming and sleep on Howstuffworks out of sheer boredom and when it talked about lucid dreaming I was interested as I had never heard of it b4, but I occcasionally do it when I sleep. I have for as long as I can remeber been aware when I am dreaming. I assumed most people were. This is all very interesting.
I think we can all agree that GOOGLE was the search engine most of use used to get here. [/b]
i was researching rem sleep, remote viewing, and other things to that effect on google....
My primary inspiration for researching lucid dreaming was a film of which i'm a great fan - Waking Life. From there it was as simple as googling "lucid dreaming", and selecting this site from the top few search results. Also, of those few, this was the most visually effective.
I used google after LD4all peaked my interest about LDs. i'm not sure why I only joined this site and not LD4all also.
it's hard to say really...different designs/atmospheres just appeal to different people, which is why other people say they joined there and instead of us. i guess that fact reaffirms that it's good that we both exist.Quote:

I actually found this site by searching on "controlling your dreams" and i was ready a message board, and in someone's reply, they had a link to this website, and so here I am!
sort of the same thing happened to me. i found a message board about dream interpretation and i asked a question about lucid dreaming. one of the replies led here!!
Yep, I'm with the majority on this one, I found it straight outta google. Simply searching on "lucid dreaming". Bottom of the first page. Oh, and the banana guy is just there because he looks so damn cool. Me and him are buddies now.
A few years ago, one of my favorite bands released a concept album based on lucid dreams. I was intrigued and did some reasearch back then on LD. Today I was on a website, howstuffworks.com and was reading up on sleeping and dreams, etc, I saw the words 'lucid dream' as a link in the body of the text i was reading, so I hit the link and here I am
bottom of the page? for me it's like the 5th oneQuote:

Really? For what search terms? I just went and tried again, and for "lucid dreaming" just like that, it's the second from the bottom on the first page. Not bad guys.
I am rather curious to know...what band is it?Quote:

fell in love with the site within 5 minutes.

No, but it's cool to know that a band would have an album based on lucid dreaming...I'll see if I can download anything by them from Kazaa or whatever...Quote:

They were my one of my top bands before they did their sophmore release so it was even better for me. Their first full lenght was called Leitmotif so try to make sure what you download was not off that one. Not that it would be bad music at all, but just not on the topic of our conversation. Check their site www.dredg.com, I think you can get some tunes there too.Quote:

Basically all the lyrics that are sung were derived from letters sent in by fans describing their experiences in LD's. One of my favorites is a song called "of the room"................Plus they are all pretty cool guys.......Enjoy!
