I watched some of "Pi" and thought parts of it were really cool. Then I stopped paying attention to it toward the end and I don't really feel like trying to watch it again lol.
I watched Persepolis today. I've wanted to watch it for a really long time but it got deleted from the DVR when I needed space for something I considered more urgent.
Thankfully it came on today and I'm glad I watched it. The grandmother is awesome!
Megapiranha - 1/10
What the hell, lol. This movie is so horrible, that it only gets that single point because sometimes i could laugh at how stupid it was :D
The thing that makes it even more ridiculous is that the actors act totally seriously.... while it's just laughable at most xD
Must've been a low budget movie as well, the piranhas are just horrible... i don't know what kind of program they created them with, but in 2010.... at first i thought that this movie must be from 2001...
The movie got a 2.6/10 rating on IMDB... guess why, lol.
Just check this scene out... i bursted out laughing at this:

The Shawshank Redemption it was a good film
hmm... Hall Pass.
I only watched it because Stephen Merchant was in it. Wasn't really my cup of tea.
I saw ink. It's about dreams and it's actually a good movie :O
It's cheaply made though. but still good.
Avengers - I wanted to hate it, but actually it was pretty entertaining. Wanted Loki to win the whole time though.
Also Scarlett Johansen, total waste of space, would have been so much better without her.
I just finished watching all 7 Saw movies. I never thought that I'd watch them, since my impression before was that the movies involved tasteless torture that some humans enjoy watching because we're fucking sick. The type of thing that gives me nightmares and which I'd never willingly subject myself to.
But it was amazing! As of now they are my favorite movies, 10/10. Most of the deaths themselves happen relatively quickly, and the 'torture' is mostly psychological. It has more plot than most movies these days, it draws you in and provokes you to think about human nature, what we're willing to do to survive, forgiveness, trust, vengeance, how much we value our lives.
The main killer doesn't even consider himself to be a murderer, since he always gives his victims the opportunity to survive, and he believes he's helping the people by giving them new outlooks on life. He sometimes forces people to confront and have the opportunity to murder those who have wronged them somehow, and most end up killing the person and eventually themselves, even when everyone could have survived. The plot is complex, and near the end of the 7th movie you're still figuring out truths about the first. A lot of it, the situations, are just carried out really well and are extremely interesting. Like this one part in which a doctor had an explosive device around her neck which is hooked up to a heartrate monitor attached to the killer who is dying of cancer. She has to keep him alive or she dies too. And it gets more complicated than that. And there's another part in which a life insurance guy is forced to choose between two people to kill.
Anyway, I'm just really happy with these movies. I did not imagine that there would be as much plot as there was - just torture scene after torture scene. But it really wasn't like that. Most of the scenes involve no torture whatsoever. I liked the first three movies better than the last four though.
Sherlock Holmes 2 - 5/10
As much as i liked the first one.... this one bored me a lot... It's okay to watch once, but it just missed something special that the first one had...
The Avengers
Good movie, I really wasn't prepared for how much of an emotional journey it was. I expected it to be a bunch of witty jokes and action sequences, but underneath that it was a nice character study with an ambitious narrative structure that allowed for each superhero to fully develop his/her own story line driven by distinctly different motivations. When they all came together to fight Loki, at first there was a lot of conflict due to their giant egos. It was an interesting and provocative meditation on manhood, and who had the greatest abundance of machismo. It's interesting to note that the only female superhero, Black Widow, was dressed in a revealing costume and generally presented as simply eye candy for the male viewers. While it may seem like an ostentatious decision by the filmmakers to present her this way, it reinforces the warped view of women in our society. I would have liked to see more time spent on this, as there was a good opportunity for social commentary, but I digress. Also Captain America was fucking badass dude!!!!!1111
Last week I watched Hesher. I meant to post here about it.
In the movie an anarchist moves in uninvited with a boy and his father who are dealing with the loss of the mother/wife.
It's the only movie I've ever seen where people push a coffin down the street.
Yesterday I watched The Source Code.
It was a decent watch for at least one time. It's not something you would rush out to buy on Blu Ray but still worth a watch. It had some interesting concepts, and seeing the guy die every 8 minutes worked out well.
I re-watched Avatar last night on blu-ray. Such an epic film.
And, yep, the avengers is such a great flick, though I'm far from in agreement with everyones opinion of Black Widow. She's a kickass super-spy that happens to be sexy. I'm not sure how having a strong female lead is somehow demeaning women. Did anyone give out over the Hulk's,er, hulking torso? Or is green not in this season? Black Widow's clothing was skin tight, yet the same can be said for Captain America. Spandex will do that to you. There were no liberties taken with her character's look. So lay off, eh? Enjoy the man-candy, woman-candy, superhero-candy and witty-candy on offer.
Chronicle - 6/10
This was a fun movie, very inspiring for people that want motivation for their LDs :) I really liked the parts where the guys were just playing around with their powers.. it was really fun to watch and i already planned to do some of those in my LDs as well.
Then everything changed:Spoiler for Spoiler about the movie:
I would've given it a 8/10, for the fun factor if not for that...
Battleship | Grade: B
Good for some laughs and some cool special effects. Worth the $5 price of the admission.
I just watched Human Centipede Part 2 last night and I have to say... it was way better than the original. In fact I've seen a lot of shock movies, and this one is by far the best I've ever seen. All Indie Splatter Gore will be compared to this movie.
Oh god - it really got made??!! Lol, now Ill have to see it, driven by the same sick compulsion that forced me to watch the original. Damn you for bringing it to my attention Omnis!!!
I'm still laughing whenever I think about certain scenes
Does it leave you feeling as empty and hopeless as the first?
.. Or is it a feelgood summer blockbuster filled with frivolity and fun for all?
It's sort of like My Little Pony in that it's the exact opposite of My Little Pony.
My only advice is watch the full sequence as two of the best scenes were removed to get it released originally, and also don't read any reviews on it because they may reveal the contents of those scenes or others. And the shock effect of not knowing what's about to happen is the best part of it.
But it doesn't leave you feeling empty and hopeless. The ending isn't quite as emotionally repulsive. The film's best quality is it's capability of shocking you and defying your expectations.
I spent quite a few weeks watching as many crazed, demented films as I possibly could endure (Salo, Cat III films, Philosophy of a Knife, the lot) , and Full Sequence was one film I couldn't get my hands on at the time. From what I've read tho, it makes the first one look like a Disney film.
The Odyssey <3
MIB 3, i'd give it 7/10
