Basically what tkdyo said.
I wasn't saying you did the wrong thing. Just pointing out what is possible in a situation like that.

If a person is always offended/____ when a random person asks them to participate in random activities... how do you ever meet anyone? Attraction is more than just "WOW s/he's HOT!"
There's a homeless man in my town. I would love to ask him for coffee some time. Not because he's hot (he's not) but because he caught my attention and I'd love to hear some of his story.
I don't ask people to do stuff because I'm afraid they (like so many freagin other people) will get the wrong impression and think I want to date or screw. Sometimes coffee is just coffee. But there is a time and a place for asking someone. 4AM in an elevator is NOT one of them.
Males have no idea, based on looking a a girl, whether they're open to conversation or not. They have to start the conversation. Likewise guys are typically not very good at telling if a girl likes them. Guys simply have to try everyone or nearly everyone that might, possibly like them. This is something girls must accept. But there is no reason to feel ashamed if a guy made you uncomfortable. That's his fault for being too pushy. So I agree with this girl, it's perfectly acceptable to feel uncomfortable with a pushy guy. But she would not have made that rant if the guy that walked into the elevator were a smoother talker.
