Mr. Gore took way too much credit for what he did. Just like his internet rant.
Find the quote where i said ALL people take no action. Sure, there are many people who research this stuff every day trying to find a \"cure\", but the majority of people who \"care\" dont do a damn thing. Thats all i was saying. It would not be a world issue if NOBODY cared.
But we are way off track. This isnt about global warming at all, as i was just using Al Gore as an example.
Please quote him where he takes the credit for the discovery of global warming. He never once in his movie even hinted that he was the only one who came up with this information. He did not claim to discover it, nor claim to be presenting information that he discovered. He collected and presented the information, so his collection of data is his own, but not the data itself. The sole purpose of the movie was to present previously known information into an eye-opening, informative, and concise documentary that people can understand, empathize with, and realize the enormous effects of it.Quote:

Did you even read my post? I told you, people cannot do anything at this point until technology allows them too. They cannot give up their cars or buy a new electric one, because electric ones are too expensive and not "finalized" yet, and mostly its the fact that they just don't have the money to buy an electric car. However, as people buy cars because they need them, and not just because they want to be more efficient, if electric cars are cheaper, people will be more likely to buy them. Do you expect everyone to give up their cars and run to work? Most people bought their gas-guzzlers before this was as big of an issue. For example, my family has a low MPG car. We bought it before this was as much of an issue (or as much of an advertised issue, I should say). We live in Vermont, and we can't just not use our car, as everything is many many miles away from eachother in freezing weather. We can't buy an electric car, because we don't have the money and it just wouldn't be worth it at this point. However, when I grow up I am going to buy an efficient, most likely electric car. My family would definitly buy a much much more efficient car if our car, say, crashed. But yes, people are doing things about it on a smaller scale, as I said. They are stopping leaving lights on as much, replacing things with more safe alternatives (with more efficient light bulbs, for example).Quote:

Another thing, the amount people care has no effect on whether or not its a world issue. The amount of interest or action toward something is not proportional to its magnitude of an issue. Global warming would still be an issue if no one cared about it. In fact, many old people who it won't effect don't care about it, yet it is still an issue.
Don't these lovely biofuels that people are using from, say, sugar cane in places like Brazil burn the fuels? Hence, basically, carbon dioxide and global warming?
Yes. The advantage is you don't have to depend on middle eastern psychopaths to supply it to you. But there needs to be a whole different method than internal combustion to really change things.Quote:

I don't know what the exact situation is with the world's environmental problems. Different scientists say different things. Something to think about is that in the 70's, which is recent enough to have been in my lifetime, we had a "global cooling" crisis. People were freaking out about how the next ice age was approaching too quickly because America sucks. I wonder what the next world temperature freak out will be.

Also, I know that America was actually talking to Russia about doing something about the ice-age together. I know, silly.
But even then, why do all republican pre-war 'patriots' have to be against 'preventing global warming'? Even if it is bullshit, isn't it nice to get a bit less smog in the air? What do you have got to lose? Expect for losing the beauty of your children playing in pools of old motor-oil?
I know some Republicans, and none of them want to live in dirty air or under water.
WEll if/when global warming occurs, it may change the gulfstream, causing an ice age in Europe. So they are sort of related. The pentagon has a plan for when Europe freezes over.
