While you are welcome to joke about what is to come, when all signs point to yes, it's pretty hard to just ignore.

Whether it's at the hands of Nibiru, the Annunaki, the New World Order, or Solar max...somethings going to push us into change. I never once thought we are all doomed. It's just a transition, some choose to deny or fight it...while others choose to openly accept it...it all depends on what your priorities are.

Many have thought the world would come to an end at year 1000 and 2000 and it didn't, so why would this be any different?

That was just because it was a nice rounded number, so if they were to predict any date, that would seem the more likely. Our calender is a bit wrong though so it wouldn't have been exactly the year 2000.

Because those were unfounded in reality, and just prognosticated just for the sake of attention.

Attempting to use flawed logic to discount something because you don't want it to be true, is hardly logical- the little boy who cried wolf syndrome only works if it were the same person claiming it each time. When 100's of people from 100's of cultures spanning 100's of years all say the same time. I think that's something worh raising an eyebrow and listening to, wouldn't you say?

Not when there are 6 and a half billion people on the Earth.

I honestly cannot fathom the world ending in 2012. We have had countless end of the world prophecies yet not a single one has occurred. I don't know why the Mayan calender ends at that date, but it honestly could have been just coincidence. Then again, you really just never know do you? I guess the only way to truly know what will happen on that date is to wait and see. ;)

All this 2012 stuff really is silly. If something happens on 2012, fair enough, i will admit i'm wrong. But like Merlock said, many people have predicted the end of the world and they have always been wrong.

I can't wait until 2012, so i can say "hate to say i told you so" to those who said it was the end of the world. Its all blown out of proportion by people who worry, to be honest, someones more likely to do something stupid as a result of this prediction rather than something happening for real.

Yes, like some powerful leader launching nukes just to start a nuclear war and make it correct.

What I don't get is, why everyone is SO sure that the 2012 predictions are nothing? Where did you get validation of future events, either way? That belief in tomorrow takes the same amount of leap of faith as the prognosticator themselves.

I try and keep an open mind about these type of things and don't close them out as absurd. Especially, when highly advanced civilizations with accurate understanding of the universe, lunar, and solar events all said the same thing.

Just because they were a highly advaned civilisation doesn't mean that they get everything right. We are all wrong at times. Anyways, i seem to remember reading somewhere that these predictions could be wrong anyways because of the translation from the mayan calander to our years. Which raises my next question,

How can you be SO sure that something WILL happen in 2012?

But seriously, okay maybe something will happen but everyone seems to think its something really big when in reality it will probably some small change. Lots of people seem to see it as the end of the world.

But even if the Mayan's were right before, why should it mean that this prediction is going to happen? Nobody is perfect and gets everything right :wink:

SolSkye - Why should people open up to the possibility if they don't want to, its not because people are afraid, its simply because they don't choose to. Its like saying that every atheist should open up their minds to christianity when in an atheists mind he/she wants nothing to do with religion. Its not because they are afraid of religion.

I'm pretty sure that the mayans never predicted the end of the world in 2012. I think it was the end of some sort of cycle, never meant as the end of the world.

I will give you that it lies in the future, beyond my knowledge. So I can't say for certain that it is not going to happen. But I simply don't think it will happen. I can't give a rational explaination as to why because none is available for me - just as there's no proof available that the end of the world as we know it will happen in 2012.

I do not fear death, technically i was dead for billions of years before i was born into existence and it never bothered me then.

I am not trying to bash your beliefs of anything but if you knew for sure that there was nothing after death i am sure that you would maybe fear death a bit more. I believe there is nothing after death, we rot in the ground, simple as. I also believe that people beliece in things like reincarnation and life after death because they cannot accept that when we die, we die. So they find something that almost blinds them from that reality, comforts them.

Just my take on the whole afterlife thing.

Don't act if it is a fact, for you have no idea what will happen at death - or before you were born for that matter. I too think I will be incapable of thought and emotion like you, but neither I or you know whether this is the case. And if such is the case, we will ironically never be able to know it.

I never interpreted it as fact, i clearly stated that its what I think will happen when i die. I don't know whats after death, there are so many things that could happen. It would be ironic, but the truth is that you would only be able to verify which was true if there was life after death.

Anyways this is about 2012, i'm going a bit off topic.
