Oh yeah, he's talking about it. Sounds like a politician.

If I recall correctly, they are NOT AFRAID TO DIE, what makes you think the threat of torture would scare them, if they aren't afraid to die?
Sorry UM but this time, your logic is quite flawed and narrow minded in terms of this subject.
They are happy to jump into a football stadium with a suitcase nuke and go up in flames, what makes you think a black bag and some water being dumped over his head is going to make him give up information?
in alot of cases, people who are being tortured give up FALSE information just to make the torture stop, so ask yourself, do we want real credible claims, or claims made just to stop the torture?
Ask yourself that, and ask yourself UM...if you were being tortured and were not guilty, wouldn't you just confess to make the pain stop?
I know thats a different situation but it does have similarities, like lying under torture to just end the pain.
I made an edit plz read, about how many torture victims give out false info just to end the pain and humiliation.
Also, torture gives the enemy more of a cause to fight against, if we treated them humanely and less like insects, maybe some of their own will be like, wait a second, were the one doing all the torturing and killing, and they are just defending themselves...then they would realise they are on the wrong side, I think torturing hurts our cause of peace.
I highly doubt that is plausible. They dont get to see that we are only defending themselves over there.
please reword that, it makes no sense:
They dont get to see that we are only defending themselves?
What does that even mean?
is it that hard to figure out? If we werent torturing them how would they know? Within the organization we are painted how they want us to look. Even if we didnt torture them the higher ups would obviously still say we do to light a fire under their butts. These kind of lies have happened over here too, so what makes anyone think they would be different?
Well for one, they watch our tv networks, and follow our politics, im damn sure they know about our gitmo closing soon, they are very aware of our polices, don't be so naive.
if we stop torturing them, and treating them humanely, I'm sure word will get out, and if not, cnn will report on it, and tons of them watch our networks.
btw the problem with your sentence is grammar, "we are only defending themselves"
we defend themselves? doesn't make sense
That's why you have to throw in, "We will check on what you tell us. If you are lying, we will do this for ten days straight."
I am not saying torture is the way to go. Again, it should be illegal. I just think that, under the radar, it might be sometimes necessary. If I have to torture a terrorist to stop a city from being blown up (Nothing else was working.), then a man's gotta do what a man's gotta do. In other words, if I have to choose between a terrorists wittle feewings and millions of innocent lives, I will side with the millions of innocent lives. What about you?
Do you consider waterboarding torture? It got Khallid Sheik Muhammad to give up valuable information. Please address that.
I think its wrong, and I think waterboarding is torture.
I would never have to make that decision, I would never join the military or police, so my chances of detaining someone are very low, i'll just leave it up to the real interogators to do what they do, in the end my opinion doesn't change their policy so I've lost the will to even talk about issues anymore.
lol, oh my bad. Like you've never seen a pronoun mistake on a forum before. Im pretty sure you have been on here long enough to know what people mean.
aaaanyways, I know full well the higher ups know everything and anything. But I have 0 confidence all of them do. If they did they wouldnt be so blind to think "omg their citizens must be as bad as the corporations lets kill them!" May be an over simplification but it seems to be the popular trend these days.
Honestly, do you think just because Gitmo is closing torture is done? There will be another secret torture prison soon enough and to think otherwise is also being "naive".
I never understood why the US had a base in Cuba, anyway. But yes, closing Gitmo will just allow the government to build a new, secret torture facility.
there are others in egypt and north african nations
