Completely lucid, looking at the mirror.

I just woke up from a nap, the time i can best become lucid. Been doing it for 10 years now, at 27 years old. Recently i have not been able to gain control of my lucid dreams and they almost always turn into an uncontrollable nightmare.

I had two lucid dreams while i took my nap today, both ended in nightmares after i looked at myself in the mirror.

The first dream when i looked at myself i saw me, as i am now, but i looked evil and i was smiling at myself. No distortion, just an evil smile. I did my best to change it to look like something good, and as i did a force grabbed me by my pants line and started lifting me up. When it did i closed my eyes and meditated, trying my best not to think about anything and it slowly let me down. I woke up into another dream, not realizing it i ran downstairs to tell my friends about the dream when i touched behind my ear and felt a pimple, so i walked into the bathroom to pop it.

A lot came out, it was gross, not normal, when i started to suspect i was in a dream i noticed i was looking at my eyes in the mirror but they weren't looking at me. When i realized completely i was in a dream they snapped back to me. When they did i felt this evil feeling, i can't quite describe it, but it wouldn't go away.

I closed my eyes and got into the lotus position and tried to meditate, but i kept rocking back in forth, like gravity kept switching up on me. This disturbing song started to play in my head and i started to spin. I slowly woke up as i opened my eyes...



Every time i look into the mirror in a lucid dream, something bad happens. Does anyone have any experience with this happening to them too? And if so, what is your idea on why this is happening and how to stop it.

That's a good question, as this happened to me once and i don't know what this is. I had some "looking at the mirror" dream. All of them were quite nice, curious and enlightening (i posted some of them here). In my reflections i was myself as i am, i was myself 15 years older, i was a medieval joker...
But in one of them, happened as your dream. IMy reflection was me but with an evil smile. I had red reptile eyes and an expression that startled me. Then i went to another mirror and there i was. A different expression but still evil and malicious.

I had a dream about a mirror once where I saw myself as I was back then, but I had hair. At some point all my hair fell out in my life, so it's probaly got something to do about longing back to it perhaps. Mind you this was 2 years ago, I rarely think about it now. Haven't remembered dreams a lot lately, I've been too busy with other stuff that I forget LD and I really want to get back to it.

However sometimes when I dream and look in the mirror I can get extremely happy.

Another dream when I looked in the mirror gravity pulled me down and I can barely move.

Whatever your dream means to you, is up to you. Only you can interpetrate your own feelings, and you get good at that by getting to know yourself better.

I don't know why mirrors would be forcing you into strange situations but if I were you I think I'd stay away from dream mirrors for the time being. Maybe if you come to the mirror with the expectation that you are going to look into an accurate reflection of yourself it could help. I think problems with mirrors are pretty common though so maybe it's just something you have to keep trying and work through, or at least learn how to counteract whatever happens after you do it and that can help you with your overall dream control.

I have problems in my lucid dreams of DCs wanting to fight me for no reason (which was cool at first, but completely screws up whatever I was trying to do) and I have had to figure out ways to avoid that like mind control attempts. Kind of the same thing really: learning to deal with a recurring negative consequence so you can continue your dream in peace. One of the things that helped me with countering negative aspects of lucid dreams was adopting this attitude that "this is my dream and what I say goes". You are a supreme being in your lucid dream, nothing can hurt you and nothing can happen that you don't allow. That's the mindset at least, dreams have a funny way of turning things around on you.
