Lucid dreaming 100% of the time. Need info.

Hello, I know that this may be for the newbie forum, but I'm pretty well educated in this matter and wanted more views than the other forum might present.

When I was very young, I learned about a tribe in Central/South America that put much focus on dreaming.

Shortly after, I always started to remember all of my dreams.

As time progressed, I was able to notice things like the fact I dreamed in color, felt physical pain or other sensations in dreams, etc. etc.

Then I started having lucid dreams. About 60 or 70% of the time, I was aware I was dreaming.

Within a year or so, it came close to 90%.

Now, I'm always aware I'm dreaming, I have full color, full emotional, full sensory dreams. I control them, I'm aware of them, which often makes me choose to wake up. I can wake up whenever I decide to and often do.

In many ways, I wish it wasn't like this. Because now, I'm always aware I'm dreaming, I know everything is in my mind, I know that when I start to think something, it becomes so in my dreams and it, quite frankly, makes dreaming far less fun.

I wake up all the time now because I realize what's going on every time and I eventually get bored with the dream knowing that it's fake and I choose to wake myself up.

I'm not sure what I'm asking or looking for but I know that this is beyond the typical person. I have lucid dreaming close to 100% of the time now. I have many tactics that work all the time that I created in my brain such as if I'm even wondering if I'm dreaming, than I surely am. I read a technique of trying to push your finger into a wall to see if you're dreaming and that worked. Then there is of course, the ever present feeling that things aren't right. I miss good old fashion dreaming. I hate the fact that I always, always know I'm dreaming. Nothings fun about having total control over your dreams contrary to what most would think. Pain, smells, tastes, all of it is so real except that fact that I'm always aware it's not.

Any opinions or whatever? Thanks for your input.

P.S. I'm going nuts. I don't sleep well anymore because in my dreams, I'm either fully aware and let things happen or I go over my daily life, think about issues, work out problems etc. I get no rest anymore. I hate this. At first, it was very interesting and I explored it greatly but now I wish I never had any dreams at all. I cannot remember ever going to sleep and waking in the morning. I wake 4-8 times per night as I choose to wake because of one issue or another. I want peace. Sorry but I'm frustrated and intrigued, but the magic or interesting effects are gone. Now I just want to sleep.

I had simmilar situation some time ago when i got in to LD for real. I got to a point that i was aware even in non-rem phases - it wasnt always plesant but i didnt complain...:) With time it passed away.
Its usually like this that having a great gift is sometimes hard for the gifted one. Like predicting the future or talking with ghosts - people that have this gift dont always want it - like in your case.
I think that You have to learn to use it.
I can recomend trying few things :

1. Easiest - Try to get some sleep in a dream
- i've tried this few times ( well i tried to relax and meditate ) and usually i finished loosing awareness.
Just find a place to lay down and try to sleep.

2. Harder - Find your Dream Guide and ask him to help you. DG can do wonders! Belive me they know what to do. Its not always easy to find your real DG.
My DG helped me once when i visited him - i felt that im starting to wake up - i asked him - Ben (thats his name) is there some thing i could do to stay here longer - i explainded that im starting to wake up.
After that he tooked out a very strange artefact (dont know how to call it) - this was a kind of horn or tube shaped tool he used - i will not try to describe it couse this kinds of tools dont exists in our real world. Any way he tooked this tool and placed it by my ear or the side of my head and he started to blow air on the other side. It was the stranges thing ive ever felt - i heard strange noises exacly in my head - just like he was pouring some astral energy in my head. Moments later i was stable in my dream again.
I have no idea how this works but it realy does :)
Im sure your DG can put you to a deep restfull nonaware sleep if you will manage to find him. (that shouldnt be a problem for some body skilled like you)

3. You coul try some herbs - for example Mug Wort in my case makes my sleep much more deeper - but still vivid. Hmm i shouldnt say this but - MJ woud probably be the best if you just want to kill your dreams, but for the love of God! dont do that!!!

Learn to use your gift.

BTW This tribe You are talking about is probably Xhosa - fantastic peacefull tribe - as from what ive read.

Well, I mean, I can understand your sitution, but isn't having 100% lucidity an outstanding ability, and not curse?
This is amazing! And something many of us strive for, but most likely will never achieve.
I think you should take advantage of it, The ability to do anything you want every night is excellent :)

How is it possible to lose interest in your dreams? There are endless possibilities to what you can do. What are your dreams like? You make them sound boring.

Do the lucid tasks. Try dream sharing. There is no limit to the amount of usefulness of lucid dreaming. I think you should spend awhile on the forum and read about what people try to do. Read through their dream journals. There's nothing ordinary or boring about lucid dreaming, but you do need to have a purpose. If you want to go to sleep and not remember your dreams try getting a script for a benzo like valium or sleep aid like ambien. But I think you'd be stupid to not want to lucid dream every night. The possibilities are endless. Use your gift for good.

So...I was just finishing 15 minutes of typing when IE shut me down. I'm about to have a full hissy fit. lol.

But to be brief, I'm 32. I've been working on this since I was 15. I'm not a troll. I have never been a troll on any website. My dreams are not all boring. It's more compicated than that. Last night, I was working on my spanish language abilities while dreaming I was in Tiajuana. I'm getting better at ordering food. ;)

I'm a writer and thinking about writing a book on this but see I've spent too much research on my own work, professional sites and not enough on personal experiences of others such as on this site.

I'll go into much more detail later tonight or tomorrow. Thank you for your replies.

Yes, very close to my point. I was just going to say that it sounds like you need something to make your dream time more meaningful. Practically, spiritually, anything; be creative.

I agree with some of the other posters that it sounds like you just need more purpose (or different purposes from you are used to) in your dreams. Finding the Dream World Academy, practicing abilities like shapeshifting (or whatever appeals to you), playing WakingNomads dream game, shared dreaming, or any of the myriad things that people on this forum do/attempt to do ... these are all new and different things for you to try. I can see how it could get boring if you can't think of anything new and exciting to do. Dream yoga perhaps?

Ok, so I have no real plan on how to talk about this so I’ll just randomly write about what I know. Feel free to ask questions, help me or anything. I made a small list of things to talk about.
First, I started to practice learning more about the dream state when I was 15 or 16. I’m 32 now. I’ve heard that being on opiates intensifies these things. I was t-boned by an elderly person about 5 years ago. She broke my back and ruptured 3 discs. I’ve been handicapped since only now getting back to normal. I was on methadone, Norco, Soma etc. I’ve been told that these drugs intensify dreams. However, I’ve been off these drugs now for over 6 months and my dreams have become more lucid, more real and more intense.
A few new things started happening. First, I’ll wake from a dream only to be in another dream only to wake in another dream.
When I first saw the movie ‘Inception’, it was almost like an account of my life in regards to dream reality without the drama and action. I saw the movie knowing they were making fiction but feeling like my dreams were more close to their story than most people could imagine.
As I became lucid close to 90% of the time, I learned techniques to indicate I was dreaming until I was able to realize it within minutes of dreaming on my own. At that point, I started molding them to whatever I wanted.
This was the first problem.
My father died of cancer when I was 17. I enjoyed dreaming of him. I felt like it was him visiting me. When I became entirely lucid, I noticed it was just a shell. There wasn’t much to the personality of the image of my father. It felt like a holodeck on star treck. This wrecked many enjoyments I had of remembering my father. Hence, the first issue where I started to not enjoy my gift.
Other things happened such as what I call “loops” where the same things happen over and over until I decide to wake myself. For example, the other night, I was trying to find the keys to my old car, and I’d lose them and then search and it would repeat over and over. I’d than choose to wake myself. Waking myself is quite easy. In the dream world, I shut my eyes and open my true eyes and I’m awake.
As a matter of fact, one of the oddest things that started happening a few months ago, was that I was able to feel how I was sleeping in reality. For example, I’m in a heavy dream state. I realize I’m dreaming within a few minutes. I think about my conscious or active self, whatever you want to call it and I worry about myself. I then can feel while still dreaming, what position I’m in and how I’m doing. I.e. I was able to feel that I was on my stomach with my arms under my pillow sleeping but it didn’t wake me without my choice. This was new to me.
Other things began about 4 years ago such as problem solving. I was able to work on school issues, mathematical problems, business issues and now most recently, practicing foreign languages that I study such as Japanese, Chinese, Spanish and French. I do have a high IQ, well, a very high IQ but it’s never done me any favors I should say.
While most of my dreams are NOT boring, many can be. I mean, think about it. Think of the movie inception or maybe, a billionaire that could buy anything. What fun is there in that? Sure, I can choose to fly, I can choose to have many beautiful women appear or whatever but when you know it’s a dream, it’s just not the same.
It’s not that I don’t wish for this. I’m proud of the work I’ve done. It’s just become a burden in some ways, that’s all. I thought I was very educated in this subject but I see I have much to learn now.
Feel free to ask anything. I don’t have anything to hide. I just want to learn more. I know I don’t know much. I know I have a gift but it wasn’t easy. I spent 17 years improving this. It just got to a point that was beyond what I wanted.
Oh, and most of the time, I am fully aware of the actual time in the real world. I can wake up knowing within 10 minutes of what the current time is. I’m aware of the time it takes in the dream world.
There’s many great things about this but at the same time, it can get old.

oh, and I've tried sleeping pills. I'm taking loads of ambien and was taking 5 tylenol pm just to get to sleep although it would last for just a few hours. So I've tried that. I don't want to stop what I know, I just want a good nigthts rest.

Hey there, sorry if this is off topic, Id quite like to know if you have been gifted from the start, I mean could you lucid dream first time you tried, and could you give any tips on how you do it, sounds brilliant and I understand a great thing can be a boring thing if you do it too much.

This is amazing. For how long is this going on that You cannot get an normal sleep? Did this happen after the drug treatment?

Clearly you have explored your dream world and tried a great many things, but they all seem to be things you could do in real life. Working on your problems, learning languages, etc. Have you tried getting really creative and doing *fun* stuff that you could never do in real life? And I don't mean just flying, but less obvious things like creating portals to other worlds, shapeshifting, fighting (matrix-style) with DCs, playing roles (like a superhero). One thing that might be right up your alley is passive dream control, where you basically play a role in your dreams- tricking your subconscious into creating objects and situations without actively forcing it to happen. You could play James Bond or whatever character you have read about/watched that leads an adventurous life.

You may have already experimented with all these things, as it is clear you have a ton of experience, but from your posts it doesn't sound like you have gotten as creative as you could. If I'm wrong, then feel free to ignore my advice.

Also, even if you have tried every superpower/passive control technique/role-playing trick in the book, you might try looking for more purpose in your dreams. You have discovered your dreams aren't real.. perhaps you should read up on shared dreaming and such things that might hint that your dreams are more real than you think. I can see how things can get boring if they have no impact on the real world.. but what if they DID have some type of impact? Check out the Beyond Dreaming forums and such on this site and see if anything piques your interest.

I've echoed alot of what others have already said, so forgive me if this is not helpful, but it seems like you earnestly want to find something new and exciting in dreams. And it may yet be out there for you :)

Try to enter another person's dream. Then things will get real interesting.

I'm confused. Can you help me understand something? You say you choose to wake yourself up often, but then you say you get no rest. Why then do you choose to wake yourself up? As far as I know, lucid dreams are just as restful as normal dreams. I could be wrong, but then again I have read my share of literature on the matter, and it's consistent with my own experiences. Physiologically, they're supposed to be the same. You say you're 32, so 80% of your sleep is composed of non-rem sleep in the first place (mostly non-dream-related rest). For this reason, it's hard for me to believe that your trouble stems from the fact that you have lucid dreams.

Well that explains a lot. Dude, you're just not sleeping well. Period. If anything, your lucid dreaming is a symptom of poor sleep hygiene (in your case, possibly because of your many WBTBs--in effect), not the other way around (as you're claiming). You would do well to educate yourself as much as possible about proper sleep hygiene and your circadian rhythm. There's plenty of info available online.

Very interesting. I know of lots of people here including myself who manage to learn how to get lucid 4 to 6 times a week, but thats not as good as always. :P

How do people not notice color or sensations? I've always been able to for as long as I can remember, I don't understand how you could not notice color or feelings and pain. :u

For the thing that you say it feels, as I like to say it: artificial. The way it feels, like you said like a billionair there would be no fun in it. I like to limit things like non god mode. If I were a billionaire I would experience things for fun instead of buy things for fun invent things experiment... I.e like iron man. Good example, you could explore the unknown, going so deep into it, experimenting with your dreamstate in the waking world. I made a post a while back about what if one could start to bring the brainpower from a dream into waking life. I think one could find new ways thinking. The rare gift you have, it could help pave the way for future lucid dreamers. Techniques that you may discover may benefit humanity!!!

If you truly can lucid dream that often and have the ability to take full control of your dreams... aren't you able to make your dreams a pleasant experience? If there's a smell you don't like or a sense you don't enjoy, can't you just wish it away? It's hard for me to believe that that would ever get boring; then again I've never lucid dreamed that often (yet) so maybe it can get frustrating if there's a night or two you just want to nothing and let your unconcious mind take control. As to how you would be able to stop lucid dreaming, idk, and I don't know if I'd have the heart to give out that information if I did. Lucid dreaming is an essential tool that I don't think many people take advantage of... when you think about it, lucid dreaming can be used in an endless amount of ways to enrich your daily like; and once you have that ability, I don't think it's worth giving up for anything.

Guys, I don't think the issue is that he (I'm assuming he because you mentioned beautiful women) doesn't enjoy lucid dreaming, its that he can't get a good nights sleep, which in my opinion would be terrible. Also, are you a fiction writer? I've found LDs can be a great source for ideas

This is ironic. I once had a similar issue in that I was becoming lucid all the time, and I found it sort of boring too. I stopped focusing on LDing, and now I am finding it tough to have LDs at all, and I would really like to be able to LD frequently again.

Interesting predicament, my friend. Definitely try to control it. The dream plane is fantastic.

anyways.. this is a very interesting thread, i hope everything works out okay for OP. I think it might be quite widespread. I found out a couple days ago that my flatmate has a similar problem, has always had lucids and she feels trapped in them for some reason.

Well, even having 4 lucid's a week at will leaves you kinda of tired of them after a while. Luckily, for people like me I can just stop since its not an entirely natural process. And I find a lot of people like to have normal dreams to balance things out. So I could picture how constant lucids could feel boring and even leave you feeling trapped. The process of dreaming becomes more clinical, less interesting, and less mysterious as you find out more.

I say just try and make the most out of your dreams. Alot of people struggle to even have 1 lucid dream, I know having them all the time can get tiring, but just try new things. You say you choose to wake up cause you know it's fake. Check out my shared dreaming project in my sig. Youd be a very valuable member to our team.

If you are telling the truth, your being an idiot waking yourself up because its "fake". The only difference in that reality from this waking reality is that dreams aren't boring. If dreams are all in your mind, then this waking life midas well be too. Does that mean you'd kill yourself?

I agree, it's hard to get bored in a dream. Watch movies, read books, play games, get inspiration for new dream ideas. Or join the iosdp. Anything is possible in a dream.

Didn't read most of the replies, read a few, and one guy said to try MJ, and i couldn't agree more. Go to bed under the effects of weed and you will not remember any dreams you had. Not only that, you feel really refreshed in the morning! :goodjob2:

I feel your pain. Well not really.....I have at least one LD a night. The other two or three are storyline usually. But some nights are all LD dreams. The thing is I don't get your problem....perhaps you like the mystery and not being in control part of it. I usually set up a scene and let it play out, its quite entertaining. You dont have to control every part of it, just set it up and let it go!

Busy week guys. I'll answer and get more in depth today or tomorrow. I do have pleasant dreams but it's difficult to articulate and I'm trying my best. I have written only scienctific and non fiction articles so far.

It's opnot just the sleep but when one is so aware, it can take fun out if the experiences. There are so many advantages but at the same time, things I stubble with. I've learned a lot from this forum but I'm looking forward to more time to read here.

If words don't come out right etc, it's from typing on my iPad 2 and the auto correct such as stubble instead of struggle. I prefer to write from my laptop and that is why I'm waiting for time do so.

Well if you're dreaming, your body is resting so it has to be your mind that isn't, one thing I've learned that may help is that you don't need to sleep to get mental rest, you can meditate if you know how (I learned from wikipedia, I do it everyday for about five minutes and it's great) or just dream yourself up a hammock and a beach with sunset or something and just stay there. As for dreams being fake, check out Hyu's dream journal or Waking Nomad's they're pretty cool, as for myself I decided a while ago that the only thing that distinguishes my dreams from reality for me is that others don't take part in it (and even that's debatable). I see my dreams as the other half of my life, and treat them as such because that's what they are, and they're for sure real. Sorry if I rambled.

I know how to meditate as I used to teach this being a former kung fu instructer and chi gong practitioner. I'll admit I haven't done it in a long time. I've gone through very serious medical situatious that prevented me from doing past things I enjoyed.

To those that mentioned marijuana etc, I'm actually allergic to it. It took me a while to realize why I never enjoyed it like my friends. My nasal cavities close up, I get a huge pressure in my brain, my eyes feel like crap and I can't breathe. I tried it for pain relief when I broke my back and it didn't do much good.

I'll say that I may have been wrong saying I have LD 100% of the time. I'd say honestly that it's closer to about 90%. This is not without practice. As I've said before, I've probably been working on this and studying and enjoying it since I was about 14 after my first sleep paralysis experience.

Over the past few years though, I started to question everything. For instance, why is everything so foggy in memory after a dream and if it's like that in the dream itself. Well, LD has shown me in my own experiences that some times, things are as clear as real life, yet other times, they can be less focused and seem blurry as we often remember our dream cycles.

I want to reitterate that I'm not trying to complane entirely. It's something I've worked on after all and it's quite a gift when I'm able to work on issues with my work and life while dreaming only to wake with the answers.

As I've said I think, now, even while dreaming, I'm able to feel how my body is sleeping and in what position. I know how deep of a sleep I'm in based on my ability to control things and sense the physical aspect of where I am. I still deal with basic issues.

What I would call dream loops. Again, I'm not well educated as I haven't read into this a ton beyond the scientific explanations. I often get into loops where the same thing occurs over and over and at which point I choose to wake myself.

When I am in a controlled dream state which is 90% of the time, I can alter things as I want as long as I don't have doubt. The moment I start worrying about something happenning in the dream, it occurs even though I realize it's my self mental projections causing it.

My brain has created different parts of my home town, and homes themselves the constantly re-occur and I'm aware of where everything is even though it never existed in reality. It's like a re-occuring dream, only just the structures and mapping are the same, everything else can be changed. I'm sorry if I can't explain this properly. This is the first time I've posted or written about this and I haven't yet had enough time to read other people's posts.

I guess, I'd be better off just answering questions and I'm an open book in that regard. Just don't think I take it for advantage. This is something I've worked and perfected most of my life. It just got to a point that I didn't want it to be at. That's all. I'm not trying to just come and complain. I like to explore just as much as anyone. It's great when you know you're dreaming and you check the taste of foods, you check the clarity of the images you're seeing and you observe the complexity of someone's personality etc. etc. This is what I've done for the past year.

I'm sorry but I guess I'm uneducated in many ways about this but very educated in other ways. I'll readily admit I'm no expert but seeing the movie Inception was like a description of my life outside of all of the movie and adventure aspects.

Most recently, that is, the past 6 months, I've started regularly waking from dreams, only to be in another dream, only to yet be in another dream. 3 times redundancy.

It's hard to articulate. I only want to share. I hope this explenation that I've tried to give helps somehow?

Hi...i created this account yesterday to ask some questions on the irc chat about instant lucid dreaming and if other people try to meditate while sleep or during sleep paralysis... those are questions i often make to people and no one else had a positive answer, now i open the forum and see your post... do you believe in coincidences? i dont... i thought i had every answer about dreaming ence my nickname, but now i found someone with a vast experience in that regard, im 90% of the times lucid also, sometimes i can feel my own body and heart beat; i found that interesting when you talked about recurring dreams and how things are always the same (places,houses) i dream alot with my old house and everything is exactly always in the same place. You say your dreams are boring, i would be using them for creative proposes, sometimes i try to make music or write songs often to wake up and forget most of the song i created; as other users stated, you could use it to create stories and other types of art; many people believe its possible to enter other people dreams, i often try to create portals but most of the time nothing happens or i just wake up, you should try it and tell us how it went :) anyway... try other stuff explore, i will be trying to change things with my mind while sleeping, transmit thoughts to other people or switch lights...wtv... with such potential you could at least try this kind of stuff as well.

They way I see it, there are two paths out of your predicament:


1. Learn to enjoy your lucid dreams again.

or 2. Stop having them.


Unfortunately, while there are techniques for becoming lucid, I've never heard of a technique to lose lucidity. My guess is that the logical centre of your brain is abnormally active during REM. Absolute worst comes to worst, you could see a doctor about sleeping in a sleep lab for a night so they can run some tests on the electromagnetic signals your brain produces while you're asleep. (Plus you'd be advancing SCIENCE! ;)) You could also look for vitamin supplements that suppress your logical functions, although this wouldn't be a very good idea, as I've heard logic is important in the real world.

If you want to find a way out without stopping the lucids, then I would recommend trying to sleep during your lucids, because you really just want rest, right? Creating a false peace might do the trick.


Or fly out into space and take a nap. Or climb into a sensory deprivation tank. Maybe if you've tried these and they haven't worked, you could tell us?

Sigh.. I hear you. I started lucid dreaming at the age of 4. I don't know how to describe it.. its kind of like living a second life, a life you know is born from your subconscious and not real. Oh well, try to enjoy it.

I dont know how he does it, but when I fall asleep I tend to get a lucid dream if thats the last thing on my mind.

Sorry, I've been busy and it's a bit difficult to answer these questions as much came without a lot of practice while other parts came after years of thinking about it. I'll do my best to articulate things this week, hopefully tomorrow.

I tried to answer earlier today but forgot my pw and login. lol. Way too many passwords these days in life. Especially with ex gf's trying to find them.

I haven't documented learning to do what I do so I’ll do my best. Did you follow that last sentence because I barely did. :D

As I mentioned before, I first learned about Lucid Dreaming watching a show about a tribe where it was one of their main focal points of their daily life. I was probably 13. First off, and I don’t say this in any means to brag but maybe it helped a bit only. I was in gifted kids programs throughout school and have an IQ of about 165 last time it was tested. Keep in mind that IQ can actually change depending upon how much you use your brain and challenge it so it’s not a true determining factor in my opinion. Plus, despite my ability to remember things beyond a lot of people, I’m not beyond successful so I don’t put a ton of stock into it. However, my ability for memory is pretty strong.

I started off by trying to remember all of my dreams as soon as I woke. This was a bit easier for me since I’ve always come out of sleep more than a few times every night.
I’ve also had sleep paralysis a few times a year. When you go through that, it can mess with you. As it is, you’re already somewhat aware or lucid when going through sleep paralysis but when you’re very lucid, it’s somewhat worse. I remember sitting there, feeling like I can’t breathe, knowing my brain has is still initiated the function of paralysis as it should while dreaming, but unable to scream, move etc. Yet, I still could tell exactly where I was in my bed and would panic even after several times knowing what was going on.
Over time, I kept remembering my dreams for many years, thinking about them, thinking about the clarity and if things are the same as you remember them compared to actually dreaming. For example, when I’d remember a dream, it always seemed fuzzy etc. etc. so I wanted to know it that’s what it was like while dreaming at the time. Eventually, I was able to just naturally make myself aware that I was in a dream state and at that point, I just began observations. I tested every sense that we as humans use and would look at everything from my hand to the background to how people in my dreams interacted and responded.

Over continuous observation and remembering as soon as I woke up, I got better at it.
At some point, it just started happening more and more. I never read a lot about it. Just a few little things so I’m at a disadvantage compared to many of you in that I’ve done this pretty much solo. I see now that many of you know a ton more than I do.
Dreams are often fun, I guess the reason they may come off so poorly for me is that I’m very depressed and that will result in less than fun dreams.

With awareness though, comes other issues. For instance, when I’m fully aware that I’m dreaming, sometimes I can make it as I want, other times, my worries or secondary thoughts as best I can articulate them will take over. I.e. if I’m in a dream I like and don’t want it to go bad, I focus too much on what I don’t want to happen and sure enough, that causes it to happen. That started about 6 months ago.

However, the last month or two, I’ve gotten better at controlling it and actually, my lucid dreams have become less frequent the past month. I’m down to about 60-70% of the time now although I remember almost all of my dreams in extreme detail after waking up. That doesn’t bug me though and it’s very interesting.
So, as far as advice? I can’t say. I just practiced my best on remembering and reviewing all of my dreams when I wake up and I worked on techniques to make myself aware that I was dreaming. For the most part, they were my own techniques and I was blown away when I saw Inception. I felt like someone understood aside from the obvious Hollywood side. Met DiCaprio a few times. I’m better looking damn it. ;)
Anyway, hope this helps somehow. Don’t exactly like giving out such personal stuff but what the hell.

Why are you depressed? You don't have to answer from the waking life perspective, but I mean I thought a dream was supposed to be the paradise on earth.
When you have full control of the dream you are a like a God. Have you done impossible things like flying and exploring other universes and something like that, because if you have then I need to know the reason to why you want to stop lucid dreaming. And now when you know that you can have lucid dreams whenever you want, why don't you plan right now what you want to do in your next lucid dream?
And by the way you shouldn't feel depressed you are awesome.

I was on my motorcycle when a 90 year old man pulled out of his driveway, hit me, then confused himself and hit the gas instead of the brake and then t-boned my friend on his bike behind me. We were both private personal trainers with great businesses so it wrecked out business as well as our personal life. I'm just now fixing myself.

The fun is getting there. Not being there. I've grown up in the single richest town in the country. The house my grandparents bought for 35k in 1950 is now on sale for 17 million. I don't have that money but I know what it's like to be around the wealthy. Imagine being a billionaire. What fun is there in that? What would you do? Most just become philanthropists which is not bad at all, but the rest I've known are drug addicts or messed up. It's the journey that makes life great, not being like a god. While I wouldn't mind having some play money, I'd never want to be a billionaire and I've dated some daughters of such. It's not as great as you think. Yes, I can fly in my dreams and its much like just willing yourself to do something, but the very fact that you know it's a dream, kind of makes it less fun. I do not want to stop Lucid Dreaming. I enjoy it. I just want to sleep without having to dream at all sometimes. People have focused on this about my post and it may be my fault but it shouldn't be so focused on because it's not entirely the case. I'd never give up what I can do, I just wish sometimes, I could go to sleep and then wake up and it's the morning. That's it.

One, LaBerge stated that lucid dreaming does not make you more tired and has the same affect as regular dreaming, so you should still be well rested. And two, your taking 5 Tylenol pm at night? Do you know that's 2,500 mg of Tylenol. You wont have to worry about lucid dreaming because your going to screw up your liver and end up dying earlier than you'd like to.

I'm very aware of my health and my liver enzymes are elevated but still safe and I'm getting better. You have to understand that I was in an amount of pain that gets you to the point that you just don't care about life. You just want to be out of pain. I was taking 9 methadone a day, 9 norco a day, 3 soma, anti-inflammatories etc. Over 1000 pills a month by the highest pain management specialists in the country. Of my own accord, I chose to stop all despite my pain. I stopped everything after 4 years. I don't take anything anymore. I suffer but it's not near as bad as when I was taking the pain management drugs. I'm working on fixing myself, but I doubt there are few non doctors that understand opiod receptors, pain managements and the brain chemistry regarding pain as well as I do. I'm off everything for 8 months now and taking advil as the strongest. Now, if you haven't had you body smashed in many places, 3 knee and thigh surgeries, 2 spine surgeries, 3 ruptured discs, a cracked vertebrae, a broken clavicle, 2 wrecked ankles, both thumbs ripped beyond their ability and 2 concussions, I don't think you can understand where I've come from.

You've actually caught on to something no one other has. I'll be honest, many times, I go to sleep just to live a life better than reality. Even if the dreams aren't what I want. Sleep and the lucid dreams are often far better than when I'm awakre. I have to say that you're the very first person I've ever contacted with that could figure that out. I told my mother but she just didn't understand it. It's nice to know someone can figure it out. I just started seeing a shrink thank God that I know is good and is covered under the huge cash I pay to have my own insurance. Nice to know someone can kind of figure it out.

I might have "gift" as many call it and I don't deny it but with everything has a downside. It's nice to just be able to express my feelings even if they aren't as well explained as I'd like them to be and sometimes misconstrued. I've not discussed this with anyone really so that's why I'm here and there. I'm no.t as educated on this stuff as many of you even if I have a natural ability. I'll admit that readily

Oh and just as a indicator of my injuries... My medical bills were over half a million and I have nothing left. I'm 32. It sucks. but I'm over it and trying to get healthy again.

I've responded to several private messages about my techinques, how I got to where I am etc. However, I've also had, only on the posts, negative responses and many may be due to misinterpreations of my posts. If people would like me to post how I did what I did and how I got to where I am, I'll write it. I just don't want to be criticized. I mean, you can say whatever you feel like. It's a random forum and I honestly don't care. I just came hear hoping to find other people dealing with what I have. They've tended to focus on how much I don't want to lucid dream and that may be my fault in my posts but it's not the case.

I can't promise anything but I'd be happy to post up how I came to where I am if anyone wants to hear it. Obviously, this is an anonymous site so I'm not seeking fame or whatever. No. I've always woken often. Perhaps sleep apnea. I've had sleep Paralysis as my mother has had but only a few times a year. My Lucid Dreaming developed after years of remembering dreams and trying. I started around 12 or 14 and got quite good at it round 18. It became nonstop when I was around 28.

I have been told that opiates can inhance dreams states like we discuss but I didn't see any enhancements. I've had abnormal sleep since I was about 18. I've constantly woken up about every hour. I remember, yet vaguely of the beauty of falling asleep and waking up in the morning with no interruptions. I don't think it's magical. I just think I have sleep apnea or some other disorder. Also, you don't have to keep clarifying your intentions. I think you're making some assumptions about people; we don't think you're being cocky at all. Just keep everything to the point and this discussion can be interesting and profitable for everyone.

As far as your situation, I think you need to create clear goals. The accident seems to have greatly disrupted your life; if you want to get out of your depression, you need to figure out where you want to take yourself now and work towards your goal. Putting aside sleep issues, it seems like you're not enjoying your lucid dreams because you are overwhelmed by your waking life. It's not that it is boring when most of your dreams are lucid; it's that you aren't seeing the potential because your conscious mind is distracted by your waking problems. Having omnipotent powers is like having cheat codes to a video game; you don't have to use them if you don't want to. I had a GameShark for GameBoy Color growing up, and I knew the code for unlimited Rare Candies in Pokemon Blue, and yet I refrained from using it and had just as much fun as I would have had even if I didn't have a GameShark at all.

Im just looking out for a fellow dreamviews member cuz I know tylenol isn't great for your liver. I understand what your going through man. I have chronic lower back pain and I was taking 16mg of dilaudid three times a day. I started out taking norcos and my tolerance built up over time and then I was taking oxycodone. Im trying to kick my opiate now and try and find better ways to deal with my pain. Actually I didnt read your whole post so I dont know what your going through because of all your problems. But when it comes to opiate addiction, anyone can come to me and I can help them out. But I know how chronic pain feels and how terrible it is on people and it just sucks. Everything I Love to do, i can't do anymore, which totally sucks. I've tried way too many opiates and the addiction is terrible.

In a way I'm pretty jealous, but in another kind of way I can understand your need of getting "normal" dreams sometimes (kind off). Have you tried to just work against your LDing? Like, when we try to get LD's some of us say to ourselves " tonight I WILL get a lucid dream", but instead you could say " tonight, I WILL have a normal, non-lucid dream" Don't know if you have tried it yet, but its worth a try! :)

This is the first I've seen of this thread, and there is far too much for me to get caught up on. I've only read the first page, but I particularly wanted to comment on this, because it seems to be the main problem that people with your 'condition' seem to have. (And yes, there are a few people who have come here saying that they have the same problem.)

My issue with this is that it implies that the problem is not with the dreaming. The problem is with the fundamental refusal to allow yourself to enjoy something, simply because it is a dream. You have talked about working out problems, learning languages, etc. What about, pure, whimsical fantasy? Even when you threw out an example of such, it was pretty generic (being able to buy anything; summoning all the women you want; etc.). Are you into fiction at all? Go slay dragons. Lead an armada into an intergalactic war. Crawl into a storm drain and journey to the center of the Earth. Snowboard down a floating mountain. Something. Just because you know that it's all a dream, doesn't mean you have to try to assume control over everything. Let your subconscious present its own surprises to you. Just be 'you,' and explore all of the corners of your mind. If you feel that you have explored every scene, situation and aspect of dreaming, I would say that you are thinking too small. Read some adventure books. Watch some sci-fi. Expand your adventurous horizons. The more you do this, the more you realize that the only thing keeping you 'bored' with lucid dreaming is your lack of ideas.

Going back to 'knowing it's all a dream.' Do you enjoy a story less, because you know you're reading a fictional tale? Do you enjoy an action movie less, because you know they are just characters played by normal people? Does the lack of hyper-realism in a video game (or, simply the knowledge that it is just a game) inhibit your enjoyment of the game? It seems to me that this is the same type of problems. When I'm lucid, I am fully aware that none of it is real, but I allow myself to 'go with' the experience. I let my DC's act the way my subconscious directs them. I let my surroundings play out as my subconscious would conduct it. I typically 'change' very little, outside of 'my own' abilities and actions. In every task, in every encounter or battle scenario, I am met with mysteries and surprises, because my subconscious just has so much input (books, movies, games, etc.) with which to keep me guessing.

Now, if I wasn't an imaginative, whimsical, head-in-the-clouds, adventure loving head case, my dreams would be pretty boring, too. It would be so much harder to think of something to do, consciously. Instead, my subconscious tends to just present these amazing scenarios to me, and I dive right into them to see where the lead. In so many other cases, though, a little dream incubation helps me present myself with newer and fresher scenarios. You should really try to branch out a bit and give yourself more ideas to try.

Someone who gets bored in the playground of their own mind, is probably just sitting in the corner of the sandbox.

Also, the reason you are waking up tired probably has more to do with the fact that you're waking up multiple times per night, than it does with the fact that you're lucid dreaming. It's most likely that your having trouble sleeping is the reason you are lucid so often, not the other way around.

Here we have it, people. The secret to being a 'natural' is practice, plain and simple. Every natural lucid dreamer I've seen the accounts of on this site or met in real life learnt to lucid dream through hard work, usually in response to nightmares.
