Poll? :-?
Personally I'm all for them. Crimes make lucid dreams fun. Illegal is cool, immoral not so much.
And - poll?
Agreed. It completely depends on the crime. I will steal cars and rob banks all day, while dreaming, just for kicks. But when it comes to more heinous crimes like rape and torture and punting babies in the face, just to see what kind of hang time they can get in a dream, I'll pass...
Completely Agree.
I voted "Its your dream do whatever you want." though, but I didn't consider really heinous crimes like that. :| Like, I mean if that's what you want to do in a lucid dream I think you might need to get some serious professional help because I'm sure healthy people don't even remotely think about doing that.
But yeah if I could take my vote back now: "Depends on the crime".
I have the same opinion on the matter.
I have fun watching things blow up because it's pretty exciting, but directly being involved in the injury/death of a DC, or seeing someone in pain, bleeding, or dying just doesn't sit right with me.
I chose the first option because most of the "crimes" in my dreams aren't so much hijacking a car as just randomly choosing one to drive around the street (among other things). Either that, or the crimes are part of a plot device, but even then I won't venture and take part in morbid crimes.
Agreed as well, I'm cool with violence if they're fighting me, stealing, and such, but rape and torture like others have mentioned, is just wrong.
I'd have to agree with Darkmatters, O, and Puffin. some illegal stuff is fine in dreams, like stealing cars and robbing banks. I do get into fights with DCs, but I never pick on DCs who are not threatening me or way weaker than me. Typically, I fight in self-defense. Sometimes I have to beat up some bad guys to rescue another DC. But I have really no desire to inflict pain or suffering on an innocent DC.
For me it also comes from seeing dreams from a metaphysical angle. I feel that, regardless of whether DCs are part of my psyche or sentient beings met in another dimension, It's wrong to inflict harm on them for no reason. If it's the former case, I'm inflicting harm on myself and destroying an expression of my psyche. If the latter is the case, it's even worse, as I would be harming another sentient being. So to me it's a lose-lose situation.
I attempted to kill my teacher in my lucid dream? does make me sick in the head? :panic:
This is something I've struggled with quite a bit...at first I didn't care. I don't think anyone really should care. It's really a way to vent some of your more devious desires. But, I have stopped doing crimes in my own lucid dreams for my own personal reasons. I think it really comes down to each person. (I mean...if you're doing crimes in your dream and it makes you want to actually do them in real life...then that's a problem. Not that that's the reason I stopped, but I'm just saying...)
Are you serious? "Don't do that in real life"
As if he's going to go stab his teacher..
Crimes, yeah but I don't really have a reason to do any in my dreams. But I'm fine with doing pretty much everything in my dreams, and if I kill thousonds of people just as long as not a single one of them has to suffer pain. I value my own morality pretty high and one of the most important points is no torture of any kind, neither against animals nor humans nor any other lifeforms.
I'd have to say I can be quite evil in my dreams. Abusing powers and killing DC that I haven't talked to or know is not a problem for me. I have no desire to inflict pain, it's just that I'm power hungry and love the feeling of being powerful. I would never do things like torture or rape though.
Displaying my powers and not caring too much whether anyone gets hurt. That's about how I look at it. After all, it's just a dream. I do have a goal to "become good," but that goal will have to wait.
:-? i Think that depends on the teacher...
No , just kidding. I don't think your mad unless you can think back at it and be like "ah, good times, good times"
I think it depends on the crime. I think it's a part of the freedom in the lucid dreams to do something that is normally restricted by rules. But not things that involves hurting or killing DCs...
Yeah, I now most of this has already been said...:(
To those of you who voted "It depends on the crime": Do you play video games in which you kill people in violent ways? I know you have played a GTA game where you went on a killing spree trying to get six stars.
And it is my opinion that you should do whatever you want in your own dreams. Morals limit you, why impose them on yourself? I do very despicable things in my dreams, because it is fun.
I might only be able to talk for myself but to me the answer is fairly easy. Because things that don't fall into my morality frame aren't fun for my. That applies as much for my dreams as it does for the games I play. Going on a killing spree in a dream might be fun, even more if I'd have some decently good reasons for doing so. Torture and the like not, neither in games nor in dreams and even less in real life.
Is thinking a crime?
As long as you dont get desensitized to it and start to blur your line between dream reality and actual reality, it doesnt really matter.
I agree that i wont do anything brutal or anything.
Oh dear, even the thought of committing such heinous thoughtcrime shatters the soul!
Of course I have done things I am not proud of in my dreams, that's what they're for in the first place.
