Actually my family is interested in it, but they're not going to try.
Actually my family is interested in it, but they're not going to try.
My best friend friend is my best friend for a reason. We're both extremely open-minded and nerds at heart. We occasionally go to Barnes & Noble and just read the craziest things we're into. She likes ghosts and psychic awareness kind of things and I like the extra-terrestrial/universe/dreams stuff. But we sit at a table and when we read something we find extremely interesting, we'll stop the other person from reading and explain it. She's down for trying to Lucid Dream and Astral Project, but usually if I'm not there reminding her about it, she'll go onto different things.
My best guy friend that passed away a year and a half ago is the one who mentioned Lucid Dreaming to me. His step dad could do it. If he were still around, he'd definitely be my go to guy on these subjects. He was just as interested in this kind of thing as I was.
I can talk to my boyfriend... I got him into it, actually, which wasn't hard. We're dating because we're on the same wavelength, so of course he's be into it. But for a while, that was all. Some of my friends would show a polite interest, but that just made me less likely to talk about it with them. How about you supposed to know what 'polite' people are thinking? I always felt like they were judging me and just too 'nice' to say anything.
After Inception came out, it got a lot easier. I could talk to my best friend about it, and he was pretty accepting. If he was more disciplined, he might have even tried it himself. But when he moved out, I was left with only the boyfriend again. Still, I could mention it casually more often, and usually I wouldn't get the weird looks I had originally. And NOW I mentioned it with a friend of mine who has gotten sooo deep into it. I'm really excited to talk techniques and dream signs with someone I haven't. Boyfriend's fine, we've just been into LDing for almost two years now, so we've had all the conversations. It's good, because I needed a kick in the pants to get started again. XD
I talk to my friends about it. Most of them has tried LDing at some point.
I was contemplating for a week whether or not I should tell this girl I hang out with in school. I can only talk to her for a decent amount of time at lunch which is 30 minutes. (you can't really fully explain lucid dreaming in any less time than that, if you want to get all the info down).
So I finally decided to tell her, so at break I asked her if she dreams
"Not really, only when I have nightmares"
"Did you know that with practice you can control dreams" (I was really trying to make this stuff sound awesome, easy enough to do lol)
"Oh yeah, lucid dreaming right?"
A WEEK. WAITING FOR THE RIGHT AMOUNT OF TIME TO EXPLAIN IT.
SHE ALREADY KNEW ABOUT IT.
Oddly enough though, she knew about it for years, but stopped practicing after only looking up one info picture on it.
Every single one of my group of friends will sit down, talk about dreaming and LD'ing with me. Mostly they ask questions about it and tell me about their dreams, which is fine with me cause at least i get to talk about it with someone outside of the forums. A few of my friends have said they want to get into it but i know they're all too lazy, still, would be nice.
I think the biggest debate related to lucid dreaming is why people who know about it often don't bother themselves with it?
What you might want to watch out for, is to talk about this at work. I love attention and make people laugh. I told them about me setting a girl's hair on fire in a LD and then putting it out. Last time I even talked about dreams I've had... People will think you're crazy if you don't do it a little more subtle :P
Today my group of friends and me were all chatting away when dreams came up. I literally had to bite my tongue to not blurt out that what they were saying (that dreams mean things and can't be controlled) is booshit.
I didn't tell them because of past experience of people not giving a shoot and because it would have taken more explaining and I didn't have the time.
None , Talked to lot of friends about it, they label it weird or impossible . I guess I need a better way to represent the idea .
Tell them it's not weird as it's a natural thing the body can do, like swimming. And it's not impossible because there are thousands of people who are able to do it and can do it, and if they don't believe you, show em this site.
That is a plan . but most of them loose interest , and will be like "Okay, Okay whatever you say ". Hopefully I am gonna convert at least one of my friend ;-)
I'm the local expert in my circle lol. I've had a few friends express interest in LDing but only about two have actually gone anywhere with it. Sometimes I can't fathom why no one is interested around where I live.
I've told my parents but they don't seem to care much. Twice a year or so my mom will ask me about it, but that's only to get me to talk, not because she's actually interested.
I'll talk about my dreams to my boyfriend and give them to him to read, if they're interesting enough or involve him. He'll talk about it with me because he knows I like the topic, but he isn't very enthusiastic about it himself. Like most people with this subject, he just doesn't seem the point of trying so hard to be conscious in your dreams, when they aren't real.
Probably just less than a dozen. My best friend is a lucid dreamer and introduced me to this site a few years ago.. but at the time, i was too young to join up and i don't think i fully understood the concept of 'lucidity' at the time. He is the one and only Dark_Muffin!
Can count them on one hand
I envy you people with even atleast one person you can talk too. :P It feels as if i had someone to talk to, then it would motivate me to try even harder. Especially two new people can have a competition. "I had more dreams than you!" or "I was lucid first!!!". For those who mention it, it seems like you stop talking to that person. Maybe i'm misinterpreting these posts, but it seems that way. Well, i just dropped the subject. I'm going to convert one of my close friends though. I believe he would be interested. He plays a lot of video games, so i'll be like "It's like your own sandbox in your head!!!"
Well this site will help since you don't have real life peeps
The few I can talk to seen't really all ears
But if u need an ear u got em
