How many of you have friends in real life you can discuss LD'ing with?

How many of you have friends in real life that you can discuss lucid dreaming too? It doesn't have to be lucid dreaming. It could be anything that is out of the ordinary (conspiracies, astral projection, etc). Basically, how many of you have friends that are open-minded and talk about anything than what everyone in your age group talk about?

Well i have friends who know about lucid dreaming, but they aren't one bit interested in it. I don't know what's wrong with them . I couldn't really discuss other topics with them because they aren't to open minded. My only friend that is open minded won't give you a chance to talk... I sort of wish i did have someone to talk to this stuff about, and that are actually interested in it.

Changed the topic for you as it was sucking people in like a black hole! To answer your question, I talk about them with my girlfriend and my friends and sometimes my family. No one is really interested for real though and I haven't gotten a single person to start practicing Lucid Dreaming. The people I know are around 20-30 years of age.

Thanks for the title change. Usually vague topics work really well in other forums.

Well when you talk to them about the topic, what are the reactions? Is it like you keep talking, and they listen. Or do they participate in the conversation?

Well my two best friends know I like lucid dreaming but aren't into it that much. Basically I just ramble on to them about it sometimes and they just have to take it.

In 7th grade I was telling two of my regular friends about it during class, and they both seemed really interested. I let them borrow my Exploring the World of Lucid Dreaming book by Stephen LaBerge and one of them ended up reading all of it. After the year was over I never really talked to them much, but it was fun having someone to talk about it with at the time.

Nope. I do talk to my family about it even though they don't really care (but because they're family I make them listen, lol). Funnily enough, it was from my sister that I actually first found out about LDing, many years ago. Sadly, she has truly "moved on" to "real" things. Ok, not her words but she might as well say it. They are all actually pretty polite at listening but that's it. Worst bit is that if I tell my mum about a cool LD I had, she then gives me a lengthy story about her mundane dreams (not to sound all superior, but truly, it does take work to have awsome lucids and I don't bore people with crap dreams).

Well, I do have one friend who is into dreams but not LDs. She doesn't understand them. She thinks SP has to do with aliens.

This, exactly. Whenever I want to talk about dreams to people they always start talking about a really boring dream they had the night before about them shopping in the grocery store or something.

My mom does, I teach her how to LD and tell her mine and such
I've told my aunt and sister a few things as well.
I told my dad when i first started getting into it but he was uninterested so i haven't said anything.

Pretty much anyone. If you know how to word it correctly you can make it sound pretty cool. Usually I don't really talk specifics, if I do it will probably be with my brother.

This is why I don't tell my mom.

I avoid talking about LDing with my family because I think they think I only do this to have lucid sex. But that's not true. :S

I have 1 REALLY good friend that I can say anything about lucid dreaming and he would be completely interested, I even got him to start, and I've been kind of giving him tips and telling him why works and what doesn't, I know he is really interested but I don't think he truly knows what to do

I've only mentioned it to three of my best friends and to two people in my residence (who went into my room and found my dream journal lol) as well as to my parents. None of them have said anything negative about lucid dreaming. Other than that I have not mentioned it to anyone else (except for on DV).

Outside of my family, no one. I've only heard of one person mentioning lucid dreaming ever (other than me) but I find them really annoying so I just pretended I haven't heard of it.

Oh man, I know what you mean. Ok, I've never actually heard anyone talk about lucid dreaming (outside of my family) IRL but there have been a few cases where I've known someone who is interested in plain old dreams, this one guy in particular, and he was SO annoying. No one has ever annoyed me that much in my life! I just pretended I wasn't interested in dreaming.

Well, I try to preach the word to everyone I know and that I can stand. But most of my friends don't believe me, and the minority of them doesn't want to try/talk about it because I guess they don't realize how amazing it is. I had a friend that said me "Oh I better not do that, I already have nightmares" which left me
Have two friends though which I can spoke to, one of them is too lazy to try and keeps saying "it would be great if I had the patience" and the other tried before telling me, I have hopes he will start doing serious practice.

Can you imagine how lucky people must be if they have friends in school/work that are oneironauts aswell? Reality check fest and lucidity talks must really pump you to awake in your dreams!

I occasionally speak to my classmates about it, but none of them are interested in the subject, or are just too immature to understand/appreciate the concept of it.

So to answer that: Only me and Girlfriend do it and understand it, but seldom do we speak about it.

I told two close friends, they are 19 and 17, and both.... were meh to it. Well one I got to actually write down a weeks worth of dreams, but it didn't go anywhere fast enough for him so I think he quit.
The other guy was really interested for a short while at the start, but later admitted to never actually writing down his dreams and we haven't spoken of it since.

Damn waste of time explaining it all to them, I feel kinda sad for them, but mostly annoyed that they can't be bothered.

For me its like 3 people. I live in a pretty ignorant area so meeting someone that doesn't take about new Nike shoes, Lil Wayne, or going to the mall is really hard to find.

No one that really takes an interest in it like I do. Like, my best friend would be willing to try it, but only on days when he doesn't have anything to do the next day, and he's only mildly interested because I'm interested in it.
I really don't get it. Like, REALLY don't get it. Who could not be interested in something like this??
I actually do have moments where I'm like, "what's the point?" But I haven't reached my full LD potential yet.
I will get there yet! And hopefully meet someone IRL that shares my interest!

I have no one to talk to about it. I don't even bring it up because I know no one would understand anyway.

I have. My girlfriend is quite open-minded. She hadn't known much about LD until I told her, but then she became interested and even had 2 LDs. :)) Today she's trying WBTB+MILD and I can't wait for results. :))

Actually I can discuss LD with a few people, some of my friends had LD and can talk about the subject. One of them is a natural lucid dreamer and nearly all her dreams are lucid. O.o

I have brought up lucid dreaming to two of my friends on many different occasions.
At first one of them seemed as if they were genuinely interested so I showed him Dream Views but he sadly never signed up.
He told me that he read all of the material on the front page of the old forum set up though, and he talked a bit about that.
Just about a week after he read all of the information on the front page of Dream Views he told me that he had a lucid dream, and I seriously couldn't have been more happy to hear that.
After he told me about his first experience I guess he just got bored of the reality checks and such so we really haven't spoken about lucid dreaming since.
I plan on bringing the topic back up to him soon though, that would be awesome if I ended up getting him into it. People just don't know what they are missing!

Same with my friend, he had a lucid where he decked one of his friends!
But he just doesn't do R.C.s anymore and so that's it really.

There's this friend who I introduced to lucid dreaming. He was really interested as first but I don't know if he is still trying. We sometimes talk about dreams, something interesting that happened in a dream or what we did on lucid dreams. There's also another friend who I introduced to lucid dreaming. She had one lucid, but we haven't talked much about lucid dreaming. I think she has stopped lucid dreaming by now... It's a shame really. Apparently she can easily enter dreams when she wants. She would've been able to easily have LDs. I also told my brother about lucid dreaming, he even started a DJ and had some lucids, but I'm not sure if he's still writing in his DJ.
The other people I try to talk to about lucid dreaming usually go "Oh, that's cool" and then completely forget it, some just ignore it. I haven't talked to many people about it tough... when I first tould my mother about writing a DJ she tought I was dedicating myself too much to it, but my stepfather and grandmother tought it was allright. One of my uncles already knew about it and we talked about it once... one of my friends thinks it's stupid and gay (but I disregard his opinion on anything because he is narrow-minded and ignorant) and that's about it... I really wish people were more open-minded when it comes to dreaming. Good thing everyone here on dreamviews is pretty open minded!
